I've tried this place twice and both times the coffee fell flat. Recently ordered a mocha and it just was flat all around - not chocolatey, creamy, and the espresso wasn't tasty/robust. Kind of like a watered down mocha. Service was alright - just a straight forward interaction which I like. It's a very small coffee shop and can probably fit 3-4 people only as a tight fit. I also got the pistachio croissant here and that was really delicious - just too bad the coffee wasn't great. read more

I stumbled upon this "Coffee shop" as I was caffeine deficit and was headed for a long drive. Frankly, the name was a bit confusing and the shop itself was a bit hard to spot as there aren't much store fronts next to it but for some warehouses. Well, the coffee was amazing! I had a macchiato and it was done traditionally and tasted really good, but slightly on the higher end of the bitterness I can take in :haha. When you step in you might be taken aback by the cool mural on the top of the wall touching the ceiling, but it is still a coffee shop haha. Not sure what is more confusing/charming about this hole in the wall: the fact that it is a coffee shop with a disarmingly nondescript name, or the fact that the storefront bears the name of a weed dispensary (note: Dr. Green Thumb's is not a juicery). Coffeeshop is basically a shoebox inside, but there are two tables outside. Ordered a flat white with oat milk, which delivered on all fronts -- silky finish and slightly sweet, with a distinct espresso taste. Baristas are super chill, but service is a bit slow. I've always loved this coffee shop, which is why I was mortified when I backhanded my double latte over the counter, knocking it on the floor and sending myself into something of a panic. Luckily, Travis was working. When I asked if I could help clean up he kindly accepted (I would've felt worse if he didn't). We had a friendly chat as we cleaned up all that milk, and I walked out feeling like I made a friend instead of earning myself a lifetime ban from the place. Honestly I admit I am a snob about a lot of food because I cook a ton and most of the time if I can make the thing I'm ordering, mine tastes better. Then I'm like "why am I paying for a cookie when my cookies are mostly organic, made with love and overall just so much better?!?" This is the case USUALLY, but for this place, I was blown away by how wrong I was. We stopped in here on one of our trips to the city and needing some caffeine for what was threatening to be a very long day. Hubby found it for us, but we drove by a couple times because we could only see the sign above it and next to it. Eventually we found it, parked across the street next to the Harleys, and walked over. The Dr Green store next door had a huge bouncer guarding the door so I sorta felt like I was getting ready to go into an exclusive daytime club or speakeasy. Once inside, it was just the two of us and the lady behind the counter in the diminutive storefront- I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk, he ordered a coffee, and on a whim, I ordered the chocolate hazelnut cookie. I breezed a judgement through my mind that I make the BEST chocolate hazelnut cookies and how could these possibly compare, but I stuffed the cookie into my bag and we took our drinks outside. Both of us thought our drinks were good, and we walked to the car. I then broke open the cookie. FULL STOP. WOAH. This cookie was amazing! Life Changing! Better...than...mine??? How does something like this happen to a person?!? I kid you not, we have made now, three separate trips to one of the two CoffeeShop stores to get these cookies because I cannot stop thinking about them!!! Is it possible that I've not reviewed my fave SF coffee spot?! What makes it my fave? Their coffee and I'm a large black please girl- iso I'm talking coffee coffee is stand out. I'm guessing everything else is too. And their pastries are IT! The everything croissant ( and yes it's got cream cheese in it) is not to be missed. No. It's not a bagel, and I love a good bagel, but this is something entirely different. That being said they don't always have it in the menu and all the others are good. I love this place! Wonderful all around! A true neighborhood gem. Everything is handmade by Olga, Wilson, and the super employees, many of whom have been there for years! (The mark of a top business.) Coffeeshop has great quality beans and lovely pastries. My favorites are the ham and cheese croissants and the unique varieties of sweet pasteries Olga comes up with, like pistachio filling and passion fruit fillings. The coffee is great! I got an iced latte with a touch of honey and it was delicious. I also got myself a monkey break, it was okay. A bit dry on the outside. However, the other pastries looked delicious. I should have gone with my gut but I wanted to try something new. Service was fine, they were not rude but also not welcoming. I like going into my coffee shops with a welcoming environment as I try to have a smile on even on my worst days - but I totally get it! It is a small place with little seating but it was SO clean and that I loved. They also had a doggy treats that my dogs enjoyed. Always a bounce when the cafe is dog friendly. On Sunday mornings, I try to go out in the mornings and support local coffee shops. I use my Nespresso machine on most days now! I usually order just a espresso, a coffee when I'm outside. I ordered the hot chocolate, Latte, and a espresso! It was too early for iced coffee w/coffee ice cubes! Bulletproof coffee or Sherpa sounds too rich in fat for me! Not bad espresso and a good latte. The only imperfection is that two of the last three times I've gone during business hours it's closed. A sign like "Back in 2!" is on the door and it seems more like 20. I gave up after 10 this time. A little hidden coffee shop. I ordered a single latte with oat milk and it was just the right pick me up for the morning. I could taste the coffee but it was not overwhelming. The oat milk was light and went well with the espresso. I also ordered a croissant and it was very good slightly toasted on the outside and very soft inside made well. This is an amazing little walk-up spot a pleasant stroll from CPMC Mission Bernal. I got a flat white and a devil inside pastry, which is similar to Craftsman and Wolves' rebel within at a fraction of the price. The pastry was delicious and the flat white was perfectly made. CoffeeShop's espresso is a bit bright for my taste but that's a matter of preference; the drink was excellent. The barista was charming, knowledgeable, and committed to excellence in his trade. This was a cute little spot. I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the coffees were just ok. That's fine. I wouldn't seek them out, but would go again in a pinch for coffee. My wife we asked the barista if they had any light roast coffee. The girl looked kind if confused and she literally had to look at the coffee bag to see. She said it was. Definitely more of a medium roast as it turned out. Whatever. Not a big deal. She just obviously wasn't super knowledgeable about their coffee. She might have been new. Just set your expectations correctly and you'll have a better cup of coffee than you would at Starbucks. The problem was with the baked items. I ordered their version of a morning bun. We waited about 10 min and then I went back to check. She had no idea what I was talking about. She asked what I had ordered and said she would get it for me. When I got it, It had raw dough in the middle of it. I asked if they could switch it for something else. They said ok but didn't apologize and seemed kind of annoyed. I asked for the cinnamon roll. They gave me one. The top was very tasty. The bottom, however was burnt to a crisp. I picked at the top and then threw it away. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. read more
