I started using Home Instead shortly after my father was discharged from a SNF to my house. We've had three caregivers so far and we've been mostly satisfied with the service. The very first caregiver wasn't a match after the 2nd day and they quickly replace the person with someone great. Unfortunately, that caregiver moved on to other things (as it can happen) but the replacement has been equally great to work with. Both of the good caregivers were attentive and easy to work with. I decided to go with an agency so we wouldn't have to worry about payroll taxes/insurance/call out's etc. and so far I can recommend this service. You get a discount if you sign up for direct debit for payment. The staff at the branch is very communicative, they call when the caregiver is running late and find a replacement quickly if there is a call out. Important thing to remember, this isn't a medical service so there are certain tasks that their caregivers can't perform, but if you are looking for someone to help out and give you a break from caregiving, try them out! read more

I was a great caretaker fired for requesting a week off due to rape. When they fired me, I posted about it on social media. They say this is why I was "fired." THEN, they have refused to tell future employers that I actually even worked there. No one in management has any kind of healthcare license or degree. This company routinely violates HIPPA. Not good, yet Home Instead "talks a good game" and don't let this one star rating impinge upon your use of this company, but in my experience caregiver agencies like "Home Instead" are extremely coarse with their clients--because that's what we are, collectively, clients--and the office staff are curt and short. My family recently hired Home Instead caregivers when my grandmother needed total care. The reasons for the 2 star rating instead of 5 was that we found multiple water bottles, fast food drinks, and empty food containers that were left all over the house from some of the caregivers and they backed up our toilet! Food containers and drinks were found in rooms that the caregivers should not have even been in, which was a little alarming. We know my grandmother didn't leave them around because she was bed bound. About 1 week after we stopped using Home Instead caregiving services, the toilet backed up. Had to use a plumbing snake to clear the line and out came multiple tampons!!!!!!!! OMG are you serious?! The caregivers had been flushing tampons down our toilet. We know it was the caregivers because nobody in this house was menstruating! This caused more headache and unnecessary stress on top of a very pricey bill from Home Instead. We did not pay Home Instead only to have to turn around and pay more money to get our toilet unclogged! read more

My family recently had to hire home care during COVID. While stressful and anxious were the two most prevalent emotions in the house, that soon ended with Home Instead. Meg made the experience as easy as possible for my dad to hire care for himself and my mother. Working primarily with 2 employees, my parents have found their transitions from hospital to home quite pleasant. Home Instead gave our family 2 hours notice that they weren't going to show up for the pre-scheduled appointment. We had to scramble to make other arrangements. Don't use these people. You will find that other competing services are better, and less expensive also. read more

Caregiving agencies are supposed to bring families together. In the beginning this company did just that. After a change in ownership recently, we have found the agency's caregivers crossing the line of professionalism on many occasions. And, when the behavior is brought to the agency's attention, they turn a blind eye to their caregivers breaking rules, caregivers come to the house during non-work hours, turning families against each other, and that is just the beginning. With other great agencies out there, I highly suggest looking elsewhere. Why take the chance? read more

Interviewed for a Caregiver position with Julie. She cant help but show how she really feels so you'll know while you're in the interview if you'll get the position or not. She'll have a condescending tone throughout the interview! She'll end the interview by just opening the door and waiting for you to get up. Definitely nice and sweet over the phone but the complete OPPOSITE in person.. disinterested, cold and nonchalant!! Thankful I didn't get an offer, I would've declined it if I did!! We began our contract with Home Instead Senior Care a couple of weeks ago and so far, this has been an excellent move for our 97 year old dad who resides in his own home. There is now consistency of care between his 2 live-in caregivers, and we have observed definite improvement in his physical abilities as well as his overall well-being. The caregivers provide companionship, prepare meals, and keep his home pristine. Our family has new peace of mind with Home Instead. Meg has been very good at checking in with us from time to time to ensure all is going as expected. read more

Simply put, they do harm, they ate unprofessional, and being that they are there to care for loved ones, their lack of concern, heart should result in their losing their license. I am deeply saddened that my families trust was taken advantage of. It is not even about the few wonderful caregivers, it is the heartless administration who pulls the strings of those few compassionate caregivers who have no say in their loyalty. It is pure pain that has led to this review, it was always my wish to see the best, but Home Instead might as well be the worst inpatient senior care, an irony in their title. I hope all the caring employees find employment where their value is valued, along with the main mission, to care for those in need, lastly simply put Home Instead's main focus is profit at all costs. read more

When my husband became ill, Home Instead really came through for us. From the beginning, they provided a high level of service and excellent communication. They understood my husband's needs and my expectations. They were flexible with our changing needs and schedule and were available for questions at any time. We liked that someone from the office came out to visit and checked on us after we started. The quality and consistency of the care givers was superior to any other service we had used in the past. Irresponsible, home health aid was the cause of my father falling because she failed to do her job! She did a good job at the beginning then apparently she got too comfortable... she displayed slackness, started half cleaning (not complete ) his environment and his body. Communication with the office staff supervisor was horrible (Ashley). She never called backed after I requested her to by 3pm to seek out other assistance for my father in case they couldn't find a replacement for the irresponsible aide that I terminated (NO MORE FALLS!!!). When I called back I was told she was gone for the day (12 noon) & she knew this when she stated she would return my call with the results at that point. This is a job to this company without true care for the patient, my dad. All services have been terminated. This was the 2nd aid from this same company and it ended with the same results YOU'RE FIRED!!! You only have 1 dad and if I don't advocate the best service for him and his health who will..people like this? NOT!!! Be smart and choose wisely. Oh, did I mention after the negligence/fall they wanted my dad to pay for the aid (that allowed my father to fall) overtime hours (time spent after as a result of her neglect). My father is 92 and needed someone there for a few weeks to assist him in his daily routine. We both were very happy with Home Instead. Before services began, the supervisor came to the home to talk with us and assess our needs. My father does not like anyone coming into the home to help him, especially if he does not know them. Both he and I were happy and my father was put at ease. Every time we called for something, the representatives were friendly, warm, and attentive. The caregivers were attentive to my dad, provided great care, transportation, and some light housekeeping. Also, Home Instead was one of three referrals that I had. I called all three and HI was a few dollars cheaper per hour. Doesn't sound like much, but it adds up. Dad had services for a few weeks and then we decided that he is okay by himself. We both agree -- our experience with HI was a good one and I will recommend it to others just like it was recommended to me. read more
