I'm glad I have a CPAP, but dealing with this company has replaced the stress of poor sleep with the stress of daily harassment. Call, text, email DAILY for reorders. Call, text, email DAILY for bills. They sent me to collections for about $50, and then the collection agency was also calling, texting, emailing DAILY. I've given them their money, and collections is still calling, texting, emailing DAILY for some mystery $6. This is not a company that cares about your health, it's a sales company trying to make sleep a subscription service; and they're irritated they have to go through you to get your money. read more

Home Medical Express kept charging for rental of my equipment into the 13th month (both the insurance company and me). I called and got different answers... and they will keep moving the ball of how long the rental period is. It is clear that Durable Medical Equipment is owned after the 10th month, but here we are into the 13th month. They refuse to refund me and I didn't need the headache of it being on my credit report. So I paid it, but I get to write reviews to save you! RUN!!! They did not even send me all my medical equipment every month. My Dr ordered a nebulizer for me many weeks ago. It is impossible to get this item shipped even though it contains no drugs. They insist on a technician delivering it in person. At 11th hour, I learned that my equipment is a 13 month rental that will be paid on a monthly basis by medicare. I supposedly own the nebulizer after the 13 months ...but we will see. Trying to deal with these people is very difficult. You can't call the shipping part of the operation directly. Must deal with other people who must then contact shipping people. All I can say is watch everything they do. You have to be on top of your bills and what your insurance allows because they will bill you forever if you don't stop them. My situation is in Illinois you need to rent your cpap machine for 3 months and be compliant in order to be able to have the company bill your insurance outright so you own it and don't pay rent. They will continue to charge your insurance 145 per month for 10 months before billing insurance. That is 1740 dollars. which is way more than a new machine costs. Well I've needed to have oxygen put on to my cpap machine because I have COPD and my oxygen level drops to 84% when I sleep at night which is why I don't sleep at night which is why I also have sleep apnea apparently my doctor had ordered an oxygen supplier to my pap machine and that was about 3 weeks ago and this company wow it's just an incredible how unorganized how unupted their computer systems are very bad for me I mean I could have been breathing oxygen 3 weeks ago and having a better time of living instead this company has caused me nothing but stress because they tell me their orders the orders aren't there when my doctors explicitly and sent them twice they tell me I haven't taken a test that they sent me that I did take an overnight oxy test we got the results but apparently they don't so my doctor sent them those results and everything else she needed to send them so again 3 weeks ago I could have been breathing a whole lot better today I'm aggravated as hell and if I could figure out how to go to a different company for my supplies I would be on that and I'm going to start looking this company sucks you know who making this complaint too my rating for this company is zero Stars -10 more read more

If you can avoid it, don't deal with this company. We made an appointment with them to pick up their equipment after my mother passed away, and we agreed on a Tuesday. We waited half the day, and when we called to inquire about when they'd arrive, "Oh, we aren't coming until tomorrow." Supervisors are non-existent or are in "meetings". They never call back. Every time i try to order new supplies it is a complete nightmare. Calling over and over again only to be told that my doctor has yet to send referral. Except, THEY HAVE SENT IT NUMEROUS TIMES. I have been using home medical express to re-order my CPAP supplies for years. Never had one issue. Now that I've switched over from an HMO to a PPO and I have a co-pay, the billing department, that is done through adept health is possibly the worst customer service I've ever dealt with with any company in my entire life. The charges seem to change from bill to bill they send you multiple statements and then multiple calls. Receive no callback from supervisorwhen requested. For CPAP customers, you can buy these items for way cheaper on amazon. I traditionally had a bill for maybe $50-60 for my supplies. The most was $170. I just received a bill for $316 for the same amount of supplies. When I called the finance line (which is an offshore agent reading a script), they just kept saying insurance isn't covering it and I have to pay the "contracted price". They're charging are charging me $170 for the mask. The same mask that's $50 on amazon. They charged me $32 for a $5 tube. This place is ridiculous and I'm not even sure if they're a legit business. The URL on the website goes to some Len Kazmer guy on squarespace. The site does not have clear invoicing. I urge everyone, literally everyone, to ignore reorders once you get your supplies and get everything off amazon. This place is unethical and horrible. read more

Update: billing rep. Lanie? Contacted me within a day and took the time to review everything with me. She updated my account, was very informative and pledged to call the local billing service (she is corporate in another state) to investigate the phone systems lack of access for my local supply location. She was very pleasant, patient and quick to action. A day later, Michelle, also from corporate, called me to do a followup. She was first interested if my prior contact with corporate (Lanie) provided appropriate answers and was informative and pleasant. I answered yes to all. She also took the time to apologize for the issues and stated that Lanie also had difficulty contacting my local provider via their automated phone system. She (Michelle) is following up on that specific issue in order to rectify the situation. Both reps were fantastic! Gives me confidence in the company moving forward and I will stay with them for now, anticipating the entire issue has been cleared and the phone system will be fixed, not just for me, but other clients using their services. Well done ladies! The corporate company should be thankful for your professionalism and positive representation of them. Changed to four stars for now. Wish I had read these reviews before using Home Medical Express (an Adapt Company) in Elmhurst. My doctor set me up for CPAP with this company. First, you go for in person training to receive machine and there is no privacy as you in a room with someone else getting their machine. I was recommended nasal canula model even though I told them I am a mouth breather, so I tried it. I was getting notifications from machine app stating I had air leak and might be related to air escaping from my mouth. I would wake up with a dry mouth and sore throat. Told I could change to face mask within 90 days, but received no solution from technician (who is not a respiratory therapist). Never received follow-up when asked to switch. Manager never called me back. Talking to other CPAP users with same machine, this was not their experience with a different company. read more

Pathetic. My first experience with this company was in 2020 and they were pretty easy to work with then but things have changed. My insurance company rented me a hospital bed in 2020. When my insurance ended, I took over payments for a couple months and finally purchased the bed. The motor on the bed failed while it was rented and they promptly replaced it. After purchase, the motor failed again -- it was still under warranty and they promptly replaced it. It is out of warranty now and it has failed again. They won't even let me pay them to replace it -- they insist that I must order a new bed. And even if I wanted to order a new bed (with me paying -- not insurance) they won't rent or sell me one without a new prescription! (Why do I need a prescription to buy a bed?). Totally inflexible and unreasonable. Now I have nowhere to sleep tonight. Stay away. read more

They will not provide a receipt that matches what the debit from your FSA card, and you can never get ahold of anyone that can rectify your account. My ResMed CPAP machine started reporting that i had on/off my mask 10 times every night. It did this a few times in July, more times in Aug and Sept. Then in Oct., it was every night. I am only doing on/off 2 to 4 times a night. I reported this to Home Medical Express and their response was it was the app or to contact ResMed, which I had already done and been told to contact my supplier Home Medical Express. They were right on time to deliver my oxygen supplies when I got home from the hospital. I was recovering from very bad complications from Covid. I never had any problems getting refills on the tanks, I also had a concentrator for my second floor. One afternoon I was having difficulty changing tanks. It turned out that a small washer/gasket type piece. I had my delivery man's direct cell number, called him and he came out after a long day. He didn't arrive until after 8pm, but cheerful took care of my oxygen needs. read more

My personal experience with Home Medical had been great until a recent policy change occurred. They now require a doctors prescriptive order be faxed to order humidifier bottles for oxygen machines. Why? As it was my pulmonary doctors prescriptive order to use an oxygen machine, it is absurd to require an additional prescriptive order to get the humidifiers. Per Home Medical's instructions, my doctors office faxed these orders twice, each time receiving a confirmation of receipt the faxes had gone through. Yet each time I followed up with Home Medical, they insisted they never received the faxes. This has become a great inconvenience to both my doctors office and myself as I have become caught between two parties who blame each other, without ever receiving the parts needed to use the oxygen machine as prescribed. Kindly get your practices and protocols in order Home Medical, so that this doesn't become an ongoing problem for customers getting their supplies on a timely basis. read more

I received an email saying I have an invoice and owe money. I am not certain for what service; so, I called the number in email (selected billing), and, even though they have my information in their system, they say they cannot send, either via regular mail (USPS) or to my email (which they have), a copy of the invoice. I am want to pay if I can understand what I am paying for and can receive an invoice (other than creating, yet another, junk portal). Their billing personnel seem to be scripted for poor service. Also, be aware I have been receiving a number of junk phone calls that seem to becoming from Adaptive Health (which may be associated with Home Medical) trying to sell me other medical stuff. After working in the DME industry for 30 years and now having a need for an oxygen company for my wife, I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy! My wife was hospitalized for two weeks with Covid and needed to be discharged with oxygen. Someone from the hospital called this company without our consent, which is a violation of patient rights. We were told they would deliver a concentrator to our home the evening of my wife's discharge. They showed up at 8:30am the next day without even calling us to inform us. Thank god the hospital sent her home with two large tanks! Yesterday morning the concentrator malfunctioned and stopped working. My wife contacted the company shortly after 10:00am and was told she would get a call back from the technician who would be bringing a replacement concentrator to her. After an hour of not receiving a call, my wife called again and was given the same response that the service technician would call her back with a delivery time. My wife called 3 more times with no return call. I finally called them at 3:30 and got a call back from the technician after 5:30 saying he would arrive between 6:00 and 7:00. He showed up at 7:30, refused to enter our home and made my wife put the broken concentrator outside on our porch as I was not available. It was a different model than the one being picked up and the technician gave her the wrong instructions on how to operate it. THEN, 5 hours later, the replacement concentrator quits working! I called the company shortly after midnight and while on the phone with their on call technician the machine begins working again. I told them I didn't want to have to make them come out in the middle of the night but wanted the machine replaced ASAP this morning. Then the machine stopped working again around 3:00AM and we had to use small oxygen bottles which only last a little over 2 hours. My wife woke this morning with bad chest pains and saw that the bottle had run out sometime during the night. I got a call this morning informing me that they had a busy schedule and didn't know when they would be able to come replace the unit. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor, Andy, because I wanted a new unit delivered right away. He argued with me saying that wasn't going happen and I needed to give him more options. I said the only option I would give him was if a new concentrator wasn't delivered by 11:00AM I would call the hospital and report this to them. He said he would have to look at the schedule and would call me back with a delivery time. He never called me back! A supervisor, who is supposed to represent the best about their company and he didn't call me back after saying he would! I guess my threat to call the hospital scared him because a technician was here with a replacement machine at 10:30. After thinking about all we went through with this company and the physical discomfort my wife had to endure because of their lack of patient care, I went ahead and did report them to the hospital administration who assured me they take complaints like this very seriously and would look into this situation. I also filed a complaint with ACHC, the organization who accreditation them saying they are a quality company. Additionally, this company isn't accredited by the Better Business Bureau. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! As for us, we have contacted my wife's pulmonologist for a referral to a different company. read more

I cannot overestimate how incredibly incompetent this company is. DO NOT set up Autopay services and be prepared to argue over every invoice, which they will send at random times and with no explanation, even if you are able to log into their online system. They will continue to try to charge you long after your CPAP machine is paid off and have to be constantly reminded to bill correctly to insurance. They will constantly call and harass you with robocalls about updating insurance (that hasn't changed) and ordering supplies (that you don't need as often as they want you to buy them and that you can find cheaper elsewhere). The only good thing I can say -- the technician who initially set up things for me was nice and informative about how to use the machine. read more

I have just filed a complaint against HOME MEDICAL EXPRESS with the better business bureau. And it states right on the BBB's site that HOME MEDICAL EXPRESS IS NOT AN BBB ACCREDITED BUSINESS. Long story short: Home Medical express gives out portable oxygen machines that they know do not work. They have given us at least three SEQUAL ECLIPSE 5's that have failed while we were out of the house. So my dad had to sit very still while I sped home to get back to his usual oxygen concentrater. Additionally, they will give you the run around that they have ordered a new machine or battery and then you never get a call back.
