Nick Castro from Home safety services came out to our house, and did a fabulous job of inserting some safety grab bars in the bathrooms. I didn't realize how much of a problem it was getting to be for me....stepping in and out of a tub/shower that we have in the guest bathroom. I was amazed today when I took a shower there and the grab bars were in the perfect position to help me get in and get out without a worry of slipping. I even utilized the bar to stabilize myself while toweling off. They are very sturdy and he managed to get them well-anchored into studs. The charge of $500 to install two simple grab bars, is an excessive and unfair amount for our seniors. Home Safety Services should definitely offer an free consultant . Carlos installed 2 safety grab bars in my mother's bathroom. He explained where we should place the bars based on her height and mobility, how long the bars should be, and made sure to drill into the wooden beams (studs) behind the drywall. The bars have a non-slip material, not just shiny, slippery metal, which is an additional benefit I wasn't aware of initially. Well, it is almost a year later, and I found I REALLY needed a stair lift ASAP. The company provided me with good and bad results. The good was a custom hand rail that I paid dearly for - almost 3K The original steps were 6 inches from kitchen threshold to first step, and then a plastic step below that step. The company built steps from plywood and painted them with house paint. They were supposed to be 4 inches each which is what a disabled person needs. Now, I am 4.5 inches from the kitchen threshold, then 5.5 inches to the next step. The final step is 4.75 inches. When I complained, they sent Michael to check the measurements. Which he did. He said they could rebuild the steps at a cost of 1K with "no charge" for painting. I said I'm disabled, not stupid. I emailed with the owner Martin who said the same thing. Again I said, I'm disabled not stupid. The inability to guarantee their promise is the reason I am posting this negative review. read more

The technician wore his mask below his nose, he placed the grab bar where I asked him not to place it and he didn't clean up after himself. The technician created a hole where my towel bar was inside the shower and patched it up very poorly. Very expensive too. Martin, yes I am a real person and I will contact you next week after the new year. So I spoke with Martin and he had someone call me yesterday. This person stated that the technician that came to my house did not create the hole in the wall. This person told me that the technician just patched up a hole that was already there and that I just didn't see the hole before. I asked him why the technician would do a terribly poor patch job on a patch they claim was already there? What?!? read more

That's exactly the experience we had with Home Safety Services! This company operates in a professional, helpful, and responsible manner. We filled out their online form for an assessment request, they called us back a day later, and we scheduled an appointment for them to come and install the grab bars in our showers. The technician arrived exactly on-time (he touched base with us earlier in the day), assessed our needs in person, took measurements with my feedback, and then installed the grab bars over the next hour or so. We now have three in each shower (they normally recommend two, but we specifically requested three), and I couldn't be happier! The technician was clearly knowledgeable about physical disabilities, aware of the best and safest ways for someone to use a grab bar to stand up from a sitting or lying position in the tub or on a shower bench, and discussed it with us in a respectful, professional manner. The total price for their time/labor, expertise, 6 high quality grab bars, and any taxes was $915. It would be considerably less for someone who went with the usual recommended 2 grab bars per tub/shower, as they estimate $150/grab bar installed. We had Home Safety Services come out and babyproof our home. They were excellent! I'm pretty good about identifying unsafe zones, and our guy pointed out several things I hadn't considered--towels on the oven door, runners on the table, etc. He even discovered a few plastic dry cleaning bags I had in my baby's closet--yikes! We had attempted to do some babyproofing on our own thinking we could manage it . We had some serious fails--namely, the tension mount babygate we got that our toddler started using as a climbing wall. It was unstable and unsafe, and a few more attempts at climbing it would have resulted in it tipping over onto our hard floor. Jack came in and did an excellent job. No pressure from him--he simply laid out the different options in the areas he identified, and we picked what we wanted to concentrate on. He was prompt, courteous, and I felt very comfortable having him in my home with me. I have no qualms about giving them a 5 star review. If you use them, you won't be disappointed. Hi My 95 year old mother had a fall and needed new grab bars in the shower. Her occupational therapist recommended HSS. I called and got an appointment very quickly. let me know the cost for the bars, gave me the time the tech would arrive, and confirmed the tech would be outfitted in COVID protective gear. The technician, Carlos, was punctual, helpful, polite. He was especially patient with my Mom. He took time to discuss the best placement and came up with a way to lower the shower head for accessibility.
