My 88 year old Mom has osteoporosis arthritis among many other health issues. She is immobile, bound to a hospital bed and her dental discomfort had become unbearable. :( When I initially called and spoke with Elaine, I knew right then and there everything was going to work out and my Mom was going to receive the best care anyone could get. She understood the urgency of our situation and was able to schedule the appointment within a day. Elaine was professional, compassionate, efficient and so darn NICE! :) ALL GENUINE! Dr. Caputo and her assistant Wendy rescued my Mom, not to mention my Brother and myself having to transport Mom first to Urgent Care then another trip to a Dentist. That alone was a saving Grace! After the examination and X-Rays, Four teeth were pulled that day, pain free and Oh what a relief it was for my Mom. All done in my Mom's bedroom, unbelievable! My mother is in hospice care and recently lost two teeth from her upper dentures. I was given HomeCare Dentists' information from her Board/Care as a possible solution to fix her dentures. My only goal was to see if the dentures could be fixed and at what price, so that my mother would feel good about her smile. At this stage in her life, how she feels about herself affects her willingness to battle her serious health issues. To get an answer on if the dentures could be repaired, I was advised that I must agree to a full exam with x-rays (she has 1.5 teeth remaining) of my mother. I reiterated that I only wanted to see if two teeth could be added back to the dentures. Also, I was told that their agreement form must be signed giving them permission to do whatever work they felt necessary. I questioned this, but they said if there were any additional work needed, I would be contacted first. At the first appointment, I was contacted by the dentist, who informed me that she wanted to extract the remaining 1.5 teeth from my mother's mouth. They weren't infected, but it would be simply for precaution. I reminded them that my only reason for contacting them was to get my mother's dentures repaired if possible. My mother's health is month to month (lung, heart failure and swallowing issues) and I just want her to feel good about her mouth, as when the tooth broke from the denture, she didn't want to wear them anymore out of embarrassment. Evidently, my sole intention of whether the dentures could be repaired was either not clearly passed on or just disregarded. I was told both missing teeth on her dentures could be replaced and was quoted a price, which I agreed to and was quickly charged. When I was told they were repaired and an appointment was set up to have them delivered, I asked if everything was paid in full. They would not send me anything in writing, but gave me a verbal that all costs were paid. The last call came at the appointment where I was told that the fit looked a little off and that they had to adjust the dentures for an additional $325. This was already done when they called and I had no option to challenge this. When I received the statement, it read that this was an emergency treatment, thus qualifying for additional work per the agreement. Kudos to their lawyers on their forms and the accounting dept for putting you in a must sign/pay situation. My drive for doing this was to give my mother her smile again while she is still alive on hospice which was accomplished, but the billing and after the fact nickel/diming practice is something that I didn't appreciate. read more

My 88 year old mother with dementia lives in a board & care home & taking her to Dr/dentist appointments is very difficult, disruptive & causes my mom a lot of anxiety. My mom recently started losing some crowns & I found HomeCare Dentists here on Yelp. Dr Caputo is very kind & very honest about possible solutions & cost/benefit analysis. The ability to have a Dentist come to your 94 yr old dementia mother and do complete dental work is fantastic. Dr. Caputo and her assistant handled my mom dental issues in her studio apartment using a medical cart that was basically a dental office on wheels. Well, this dentist appt was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our 90 year old legally blind Mom lives in a assisted living home and the idea of getting her to a out of the house and into a dentist's office was overwhelming. We heard about this home visit dentist option so we decided to go ahead give it a try for her cleaning, x-rays and an exam. Her other health problems had delayed her regular dental care by over 3 years. :( From the easy first phone call to their warm and professional care and follow-up, we are very happy. All the work was done in my Mom's room! I am a nurse practitioner and my sister is an LVN so we have a high expectation of quality care. I was referred to HomeCare Dentists by my mom's primary Dr. My mom is bedridden and I was trying to find a dentist to treat my mom in her wheelchair. She is unable to transfer from her wheelchair, so it was becoming a bit of a challenge to find an office that could see her. I was so impressed by HomeCare Dentists from the very first phone call. The women in the office, were so nice and efficient. Start up paperwork was sent and I got the appointment set for my mom. They explained how the process works and they would call when they were an hour away from arriving. When Dr. Caputo and her assistant, Jennifer, arrived, they were so professional and friendly. The way my mom's house is set up, makes it a bit of a challenge when bigger items need to get through the door, plus 2 hedges that make the walkway more narrow don't help either. lol. But Dr. Caputo and Jennifer, made it through and their equipment was set up. Everything was done. From x rays & cleaning to replacing my mom's crown that had come off, was taken care of in a timely manner. My mom has lewy body dementia and can be a bit of a difficult person at times and Dr. Caputo and Jennifer were able to keep my mom's mood from escalating and kept her calm when she would start to get agitated. Incredible. Yes, it costs a bit of money, but they are bringing the whole dental office into the home! lol. It is worth every single penny, if you or your loved one cannot get into the dental office. The dentist's skills seem good, but beware of the pricing! They told me it would cost $350 minimum to $550 maximum for the visit, the Xrays, and the cleaning on the phone, but when I got the paperwork, it was $710 minimum, and ended up being $790 for extra teeth cleaning. The dentist said she also recommended deep cleaning to the tune of $1,500 extra, but I refused. read more

Professional and compassionate dental care. My father has Alzheimer's and visits to the dentist are almost impossible. He needed two teeth removed and his regular dentist couldn't do it. We went to an oral surgeon who was also unsuccessful due to my Dad being uncooperative. The only other option presented to us was to sedate my Dad and have his teeth removed in a hospital setting. Then we found Home Care Dentists and decided to try this option. They came to my Dad's house and were able to remove the teeth in a very professional and compassionate way. Dr. Caputo and her assistant were very good with my mother. They have all the equipment to do pretty much everything. My mother resides in a Board & Care and suffered a stroke. We were recommended by my Mom's mobile dental hygienist, Smiles on the Run, and the recommendation was a good one. My mother also suffers from aphasia and cannot verbalize her needs, so Dr. Caputo and her assistant were constantly talking her through what was going on and what they were doing. This made my Mom feel at ease. They were very reassuring to her and very gentle with her. I would recommend Dr. Caputo to anyone. The ONLY reason I gave four stars instead of five stars, is the cost. I know to bring out all of this equipment and assistant out to a house has to be expensive, but I am guessing that alot of their patients are elderly and on a fixed income, so the cost is expensive. However, Dr. Caputo gave all of her recommendations and then we decided together what was the most urgent. I never felt pressure to do everything at once. Again, five stars for the services provided, but four stars for the cost of their services. read more

My husband has been confined in a dementia facility in Escondido and during a session with the oral hygienist who discovered an abscess on his gum which was very inflamed. We needed a travelling dentist to confirm and resolve the problem ASAP. Fortunately we were recommended to contact Dr. Caputo who came with her assistant and all equipment and did an extraction of an extremely hard-to-reach tooth which was severely infected. This included antibiotics and x-rays and two return trips to ensure that all would be well. The dentist was both professional and so very kind to my husband who had no idea of what was going on. I can honestly say she and her assistant were terrific and I felt very comfortable leaving him under their care. That's why I've written this review. read more
