Months later someone else came and looked at it and said they would repair it, then they stopped responding to me. After waiting 5 months to have the work done I hired somebody else to do the job and when I asked for a refund I immediately stopped getting a response. We called Bill initially to fix our roof through referral. We had some broken tiles. He was prompt, from the same area we were from on the East Coast and we loved him. He then did other work for us, fixing a pillar which also came out great. We found out later that he didn't lay down underlayment like he told us he did. Now is where the issues began happening. We had him paint the exterior of our home. Again on the surface, great. They were supposed to fix any of the eaves if they needed it(they told us they did). We then had them build a new fence for us. Initially it was great, until they took a week to stain it. They finally 'stained it' and we thought all was great. They were supposed to take the excess wood back so we could get money back, never came back. The stain started to fade and wood was warping (within a month), kept saying they would be there that day, never came back. The eaves they fixed? We had to replace them with another company last month because they were molding and falling apart. The fence is now faded, warped and the gate isn't closing. I have reached out COUNTLESS times. He finally blocked my number like a coward. I have now filed a complaint with the CA Licensing board, BBB, and am in the process of filing in Small claims court (even though that won't cover half the cost). Thank goodness I have all of our correspondence saved as well as the checks we paid him with for this. He went from being at our house daily and becoming friends, to completely screwing a family with a toddler of a lot of money. And now hiding from any responsibility. Do your due diligence, but I would not do business with him or his company if I were you. read more

We recently bought a home and needed to replace our roof. 95% of the companies I reached out to would not give us a quote because we were still in escrow. Home Crown Roofing was one of the few companies that gladly gave us a quote. From day 1 Lori, made us feel as a prized customer keeping us informed and updating us when the quote would be ready. Long story short, I would have easily gone with Home Crown, however our solar company offered us a deal if we used their roofing company who had great reviews as well. We called HomeCrown based on Yelp. Bill aka William, the President, came to quote us for replacing papers under our tile roof. After he walked on our roof, he moved tiles on our roof, and he said it was to avoid potential leaking, which a) we did not ask him to do that and b) we suspect he moved them to actually cause a leak. Next, when I shared the quote with a neighbor via email, they immediately called me and said DO NOT USE HomeCrown. Our neighbor used HomeCrown based on Yelp, and 1/2 way through the project wanted to fire them, but needed HomeCrown to finish the job. So they ensured they would not give them a bad Yelp review if they finished the job. The reason they wanted to fire them is due to a poor relationship with the paint subcontractor (who no longer works with them), poor stucco workmanship, and misogyny. Further, the owner used fear tactics, saying parts of our roof could fall off and injure people. I'm also told the owner needed to change their company name multiple times due to lawsuits and shading activity over the years. Do yourself a favor, get 3 quotes and avoid HomeCrown. read more

January 2023: Homegrown attended to a leak coming through one of the valleys in our roof. Supposedly they "repaired" the leak and replaced underlayment with two layers and installed two new valleys (attending as well to some seals around vents, skylights, etc.). Trustworthy and excellent customer service!! During the recent heavy rains in Long Beach, we had what seemed to be a roof leak. Of all times, during Christmas weekend and with family in town! We reached out to HomeCrown Roofing and Lori got back to me quickly and was able to schedule an appointment right after the holiday weekend. She provided great communication leading up to the appointment. Dustin came out to inspect our roof (free estimate) and noticed a quarter size hole in our roof. Based on where the water was pooling, that was likely the culprit. He suggested we fill it ourselves with silicone (since it was an easy fix) and to call us if that doesn't fix the issue - he would have offered to do it for us but didn't have the supplies on hand. He answered all my questions and was very patient with my concerns. Although we didn't have any repairs completed by them, I would definitely use them should the need arise. read more

Two weeks ago, my wife and I discovered 2 leaks in our roof during a particularly heavy rain. I polled several roofers here on Yelp, and HomeCrown Roofing was the only one who was able to have someone come out in time before the next rainy day came. This company repaired my roof in May 2022, however after they finished "repairing" the roof, I can still see from the ground missing roof tiles that they were supposed to replace. I have called and texted Dustin multiple times, however they will not take action, either ignoring my texts where I can see a "read" receipt or claiming they are too busy, for the past three months. This feels like they are trying to get out of honoring their 5 year guarantee. I will look into seeking legal advice for small claims court if this is not resolved soon. read more

We recently finished up a major roofing and painting job that was completed by Home Crown. They really went above and beyond to address every little detail, and made additional repairs at no extra charge. First, we did a complete re-roof of our home with all new, high end tiles. After the roof was finished, we had the house prepped for exterior paint which included wood repairs resulting from years of termite damage, along with a rebuild of a planter shelf done to the front of the house. The painting crew (Aniceto and the boys) were experienced and focused on attention to detail. They arrived on time daily, and were courteous, fast, and extremely professional. Bill patched my roof - but it kept leaking every time it rained....and the repair came with a 20 year warranty. Turns out 20 year warranties aren't even legally binding. He never gave me a work order -I just got a receipt that said "new flat roof system". Then he said the girl who typed it up got it wrong and he just fired her. Red flags everywhere...He came out twice to fix it but then said I needed a completely new roof - but he would discount the money I already paid. So frustrated, I decided to get several other quotes from other roofers and they all said the same thing - Whoever patched your roof didn't know what they were doing or did a lot of stuff that wasn't even necessary.... The worst company you can hire . It's been 8 months and the roof is still not done ) it was supposed to be a 2 Week project ) . Unqualified personal, no permits , no Forman . We still have exposed wires, a roof that needs to be completely redone . Bill is a great salesman but the quality of his work is disgusting. He sent several different unqualified workers with absolutely no experience , didn't have the right tools . they were terrible. They had no experience and were lost at the site , sometimes they would Just seat there having no idea what to do or how to do it. It's was a simple roof job . I have hundreds of messages in between the owner, Bill , and I and with his office lady , Jenna. lies and excuses from Bill . I am filing a complaint with surety and against his contractors license . Feel free to contact me and I'll send pictures of the job . A job that was supposed to be done in 2 weeks is not done and what was done it disgusting . My current review in a nutshell. Not trustworthy, cuts corners. Continue reading if you want more details. I signed a contract with HomeCrown Roofing for a lift and reset. The team was helpful prior to signing the contract and work started last week. The contract was not the absolute lowest in price, but at the time I felt comfortable moving forward. This is where problems started. On the first day of work. Bill made it a point to let me know that they are very meticulous and serious about keeping the property in better shape than when they started, and that they have a guy who is there all day to get all the nails and cleanup debris. After our first day, we had debris around the property, and nails. I brought this up to Bill and things have improved a little bit here. Once the tiles were lifted and existing paper removed, I got up on the roof and it was overall in pretty good shape--even the paper that was removed likely had quite a bit of life left. I did notice a few areas where there was some wood damage (plywood, shiplap). The city inspection took place (basically to approve for the team to move forward with next steps), and it did not pass. The team was flagged for not tying down the ladders for safety. The city inspector also flagged the area where the chimney was in contact with the plywood--potential fire hazard. What made me very furious is that the spots which I noticed before where wood needed to be replaced/repaired were now covered up with tile prior to the inspection. I now wonder what else is covered up that I don't know--I relayed this information to the team. Today they are going through next steps since they "passed inspection"--based on what I see I would use that term very loosely. The damaged wood was not replaced, and the team is already applying paper. I again had to get on the roof to see this and told the team to stop and asked for the foreman to come by. Why would you apply paper first before repairing/replacing wood? Also, the synthetic underlayment they use is supposed to be Titanium UDL50. What I saw on the roof is NOT Titanium UDL50--they used CertainTeed Roofrunner (much cheaper from cost perspective). Also, Titanium UDL50 has 50 year warranty, versus 10 year warranty for CertainTeed Roofrunner. Imagine later down in case you issues and are looking at warranty, only to find out that they didn't actually install the right underlayment and your so-called warranty is useless. The contract with HomeCrown Roofing also includes application of BoraCare to all the raw wood. I didn't see any bottles of BoraCare (which also needs hot water to mix)--I did see a bottle of bleach in the vehicle. What they are actually spraying is Spectracide Terminate, and it looked more like a spot treatment than a whole area application--the bottle certainly would not have been enough. If they sprayed and applied paper before it dries, that to me is just trapping in moisture and will cause more problems down the line. Either way, what they were applying was not BoraCare. The contract also indicates use of treated cedar for any wood other than plywood--they called this out as their wood cost is higher, and that they don't use wood from the big box stores. The wood I saw was basically generic whitewood from big box stores. There was some wood (not directly on the roof) that the foreman said they would replace, and instead what I saw was that they were simply applying bondo to patch it up. We are still in progress right now, and I will update here once the project is complete. At this stage, I cannot recommend HomeCrown Roofing. I know most homeowners would not climb on the roof to see what was happening, but would expect that they can trust the contractor to do the right work with the right materials and the right workmanship. read more

Had my 20+ year old roof replaced less than two years ago by this company. I now have four water stains on the master bedroom ceiling and another gigantic one just outside the bedroom door (3'x2'). That was the direct result of this new roof...never had that issue with the old one. Bill, the owner, promised a fix, but has lied in the past and no one has shown up to fix the problem. I can't even get a return phone call. The BBB has refused to accredit this company and reviews are abysmal. I regret not checking out this information before hiring them. read more
