After setting up an appointment I spoke with David the sales representative and from the first day he was straightforward and was thorough in explaining everything about the new roofing system I was interested in getting installed on our home. He was able to answer all my questions as I had quite a few. The quote I received from Certified roofing for re-roofing of my home about 1700 sq ft single story and detached garage was very competitive and backed with the appropriate license for roofing and reputation of a respectable company with years of experience. We would definitely recommend Certified Roofing Specialists!! So happy we chose to have them replace our roof, including the removal and reinstallation of our solar panels. Their pricing was competitive but what stood out to us was Jose's attention to detail. I was provided with a non English speaking crew, which made it hard to communicate important details. Because of this, I was never informed that my previously installed EV charger would create a solar permit issue. That oversight ended up costing me an additional $2,000. This review is a long overdue expression of appreciation for David and Certified Roofing. In the middle of a major remodel and decided that it was time to finally deal with the roof. While we hadn't had any leaks...I knew this was long overdue. David was referred to me by my contractor, who is a 4th generation builder and has very high standards. I felt instantly comfortable with him, like he was a long lost friend. I also sensed quickly that he is someone who knows how to "get it done," and is willing to go above and beyond to create the best experience possible for his clients. This was important to me. Part of the reason I had put the job off, was another roofing company, years ago, had given me a ridiculously high estimate, and by contrast, did not seem trustworthy. Bad vibes all around. Before speaking with David, we were referred to another roofer who we found out was unlicensed. They'd come highly recommended and gave us a written estimate. To my surprise, when David's estimate came in, it was even better than theirs. I was gobsmacked. Having already heard from my contractor that they did excellent work, there was nothing else to think about. Fast forward to the job--they brought a full outfit--not just a couple of guys and a dumpster. For some reason, bees on a hive came to mind. Initial Contact/Quoting Process: We were looking to redo our roof and collected quotes from 6 other local contractors. Certified Roofing Specialists came in about towards the lower-middle side of the quoted $ values, which I thought was extremely reasonable when some of the higher quotes we received. I initially spoke with Freddi and agreements/quoting process was incredible efficient and clear. Construction: There was a small delay due to weather, but I was made aware of the schedule changed even in advance of it raining and was told that if it was on the forecast, to manage expectations that the job would get pushed out. On the day of the job, the porta-potty was already in place from the night before and multiple guys came out to work on demo. They didn't make a mess and cleaned up the site after. We ran into some issues during construction, but I flagged them to Jose, who then came out and made sure everything was done right. Accountability is hard to come by and I was glad he took the time to make sure I was happy. He even reconnected my bathroom exhausts to the new vents. Jose was incredibly communicative through the whole process and I was impressed by the level of willingness to go the extra mile to make sure the job was done right. Change Orders: We had some additional charges because some wood needed to be replaced. The foreman walked me through what needed to be replaced and made sure I was OK with it before sending it for billing. Again, really impressed with the communication. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this company. We had a tile relay done and they did not check to see what kind of ceiling we had. Sawdust ended up covering the second floor. Besides that, the foreman was great about communicating the first two days. Lots of pictures and updates. But then he was reassigned, and from then on no one communicated with me. The workers would arrive and leave and no one would tell me what progress had been made. I had to call the office to ask. Eventually they finished the job and again, no one told us. A note was left by the city inspector which I had to call to figure out what it meant (apparently they had forgotten paperwork for him or something but the roof was ok). They did offer to let me hire a cleaner and reimburse me for the cost, and they did follow through on that. It also took a while and holding off on the final payment for a couple days for them to actually send me pictures of the finished roof. When you are giving someone thousands of dollars I guess pictures of the finished product was something I would have expected. read more
