I've shopped at Home Goods stores all throughout LA County with my dog in tow and never had any problems...until I passed through the Orange Curtain into the desolate suburban wasteland that is Los Alamitos. I was immediately stopped at the door and interrogated about whether my dog is a service dog or not and told only service dogs are permitted if you want to buy sheets, or towels, or oddly enough, pet supplies. Since this is the only location where I've had this issue, I'm assuming this is not a corporate policy but rather a specific manager's policy. I've totally meh-eh on Home Goods. I always go in, all excited and anticipating what amazing finds will be in store... only to come out empty-handed. It's not due to lack of stock either - they are pretty damn full of everything from sheets, to photo albums, to wacky kitchen gadgets, to garden gnomes. No, the problem is pricing. For a discount store, deals are pretty tough to come by here. I feel like I can get better deals on higher quality stuff even at Kohls next door. Think of a better organized , home decor only section of Ross or Marshalls or TJ MAxx store - guess what - they are all ONE company! Anywhoooo - this location is in the OC and it seems to have a lot of better quality but still (average, slight, not deeply) discounted home decor. I've always liked coming to this group of discount stores particularly for pottery - I do love container gardening. And that's what prompted this excursion. I found three lovely 13 inch wide, clay, glazed pots - one of each: brown, blue and green. I will be transplanting holiday Poinsettias and hydrangeas. Bonus today: they slashed the prices on holiday themed packaged goodies: I got a 2 pound bag of Italian roast coffee beans for $10 and a bag of ground hazelnut coffee (8 oz) for $4. That's gonna last me a couple of months of brewing at home! Also found two frames just the right size for a couple of vintage photos I had at home. Also a bathroom organizer basket thing - to corral all those products on my vanity. (Not mine but that's a story for another time). The rating is bumped up because of the Customer service : my cashier Andrea very kindly offered the services of her helper (I think his name was Steve or Dave?) to load the pots in the back of my car because they needed to be wrestled into the trunk. Thank you! I usually plan my shopping excursions for a specific thing (the pots) and end up spending on unexpected finds (coffee). So that could be your experience too! Otherwise, chalk it up to just another day in a well stocked store. read more

Would give zero stars, Marshall's tj Maxx and HomeGoods have ALWAYS been dog friendly yet the old lady at the front didn't allow me to bring my dog in. I went to homegoods today, and I went to the line to check out. I was waiting in a long line but no problem obviously. The tv that tells you which spot to go to said " cashier number 1 please " with a big number one on the screen. We go over there, and there was someone at number one so we waited around. One lady told us that the line was back there and i told her that the screen said number 1 on it and that the lady wasn't ready. Just to make it easier after someone left we went to number 3. The lady at number 3 ( I didn't catch her name ) gave us EXTREME ATTITUDE. The lady at register 2 AND REGISTER 1 Told us very very rudely " the line is over there " in the rudest stern tone. Myself and the person that came along with me felt very attacked and ganged up upon. I told her exactly what happened. " the screen said one we walked over and number one wasn't open." She gave me the ugliest look and didn't look me in the eye or anything no sorry no anything and just went " ok. " checked us out and didn't even greet us fair well or anything. I thought it was all in my head but it wasn't until i saw a review about a girl saying that a she felt racially profiled because she was Hispanic. This homegoods needs talk to their employees and instead of automatically blaming the customer at least trying to see what happened before jumping to conclusions. If you are a person of color be aware when you come to this one. These white laddies ruined this one for me! read more

OMG this place is bigger than my old Home Goods. I'm so glad there's one here in Seal Beach. If not I'd have HG withdrawals. Lol The selection is incredible and makes me want to go back as soon as I get a paycheck. The only thing that prevents me from giving them a 5 star is the customer service where they allowed a person to cut the line and that is TOTALLY unacceptable. I have not experienced such fantastic customer service at any retail store in years let a lone a discount store like Home Goods. Great, excellent job Sarah! (that was working at the register at 7pm on Sunday 27th of May) You deserve a raise AND a promotion. So the matter started out when I wanted to purchase 2 lamps at the lighting section. The two lamps are identical models except somebody had stolen the top finial off of one of the lamps and replaced it with a cheap broken finial and instead. I asked the individual working in the section of they could help me initially and she said now replacements, period. Which would have equated to a lost sale. Anyways I was at the register since I was purchasing other items and the sales clerk Sarah ask me "if I had found everything alright." Pretty typical right? My response below was a resounding no. Since I had found 2 lamps that I liked. But that I was not going to be able to purchase them since they were not matching items. Due to somebody switching out the finials on top. Sarah responded like any professional top sales associate would. She sought immediately to resolve the situation and to ensure customer satisfaction. Sarah is the kind of employee Any retail store should be glad to have. To end my story I walked out of there with two new modern lamps that will go well with my new bedroom set. read more

We visited this store a few years ago when it first opened. What a delight. Loved the variety of glassware, kitchen ware, bath room accessories and low prices. Fast forward to 2012. The prices have risen a tad, but they're still stocked to the rafters with great finds for the kitchen, bath, living spaces. We were in the market for a basket to hold remote control devices. They had every color, shape, size imaginable. Looking for a mirror for my newly remodeled bathroom. Found the perfect size and price. Their furniture intriques me. Nice pieces, but I don't have any way of transporting home. And do I really Need another chair? Er, maybe not, but they're so tempting - comfortable, moderately priced. The lamp section left a bit to be desired. Nothing caugh my eye, yet I need a new small lamp. Will have to try again in a few weeks. The store holds a lot of stock but the store doesn't feel cluttered or messy. (We were there late Saturday afternoon/evening.) Aisles are wide enough for smooth traffic flow. Little bottleneck at the cash registers. As usual everyone wants to leave the store at the same time. Human nature. The cashiers took it in stride with grace and humor. They called as many cashiers to their stations as quickly as possible. Good products. Good prices. We won't wait so long to return again. read more

I like coming to these places, always have different furniture and for great prices. I think I've been to around 7-8 around town and really haven't found the right Piece for my TV units. Some items go on clearance due to minor damages but repairable, great low prices. They also have many home decor options from India to modern contemporary or just unique pieces. Recommend going to either location but in my opinion, you may find more options on just Home Goods stores rather than the Home Goods/TJ Maxx locations. read more

This Seal Beach location is definitely my favorite. The clearance aisle is usually pretty run down, but it's clearance, you can't get picky when things that are normally $25 are being sold for $2. I never walk out of this place empty handed, which is both good and bad... Good for my little one bedroom apt, bad for my bank account. All in all, their selection is great. The vast array of EVERYTHING Home, the color scheme placement of the items, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the store, the easy and fast checkout, the wide aisles and everyday new and unique selection of items at a great price that are well tagged without having to search for that darn price makes this location a stand out! my experience at the store was horrible I felt discriminated against by Tammy the store manager she was very rude she made me feel like if I did something wrong because I left my Original receipt at home she was extremely condescending. I called over to the Lakewood home goods Which Was the original store that I purchased the items from and Bree was able to help me she looked up my receipt I went back to the Seal Beach door which Debbie another manager was there and very rude as well this was by far the worst experience I've ever had Debbie was very rude to the associate as well I don't remember the young lady name but she was trying to help me and was deeply apologetic for Debbie's behavior after telling Debbie that people will never remember your name but always remember how you make them feel and this by far has been the worst customer service I've ever had Debbie kept me standing there trying to figure out my receipt for about 10 to 15 minutes after all that she did say she was sorry then return my ideas I will never shop at this store again. read more

Went to this location around 8:45pm and noticed they had a nutcracker I wanted sitting in the back stock room. I asked the manager (taller lady with glasses, blonde hair) told me she couldn't give it to me because it wasn't priced yet. To return in morning for it. I returned in the morning (stood in the line of people who open in the morning) the nutcracker was nowhere to be found. None of the people who were in line had it either because I checked. I asked a worker if they seen the nutcracker in the back stock room. The lady went and said no it wasn't. So something definitely has been going on with merch. Not making it to the floor at this store. It's happened to me a couple of times already. And it's definitely really hard when you have people standing in lines wanting the same items. But to see it there in the back stock room and then be told to come at opening and it's magically be gone and the workers magically don't see it. read more

There was a time in my life when the furniture I owned consisted of beaten, worn recliner covered in a Star Wars sheet, complimented by a couple of milk crates and a 2 x 4 "table" .... a mattress on the floor, tangled in comforter, mismatched pillowcases -- minus one Star Wars sheet. Yes. I do refer to a time in my "adult" life but I've done growed up since then. NOW - I've got a real grown up sofa (it's not even from Ikea!!), a coffee table (ok, THAT is from Ikea), and the idea of color coordinating my kitchen appliances, bath accessories, and "accent pieces" (wtf) has become second nature to breathing. And why shouldn't it, really? I work hard. I work loooooooooong (hours)... and when I'm able to spend time at home, relaxing in solitude, I like to do so surrounded in pleasantries. What I love most about Home Goods is that it gives me that "as-close-to-a-thrift-store- you're-gonna-get-paying -less-than-retail" kind of feeling. While not quite the same, the merchandise certainly turns over consistently and the bang for the buck is second to none! My last couple trips to the Seal Beach Home Goods were a complete success. I found a reproduction Diego Rivera "The Flower Seller" matted and framed print for $24. A total score since just the print itself usually goes for $18 at most art shops. Add the matting and frame and EEK - we're talking a crisp Benjamin! I was stoked at $24 and it ties in muy perfecto with my Mexican folk art themed kitchen. It's hanging above my dining table. I absolutely love it. I also scored an amazing floor mirror that I'm still debating whether or not it looks best in the living room or bedroom... it was a steal compared to the Crate & Barrel version I was eyeing for $300 more. DO YOU KNOW HOW FAR $300 WILL GET YOU AT HOME GOODS?!?!?!? OMG, you could buy half the store! Ok, not really....but still... I absolutely love Home Goods and rely on it heavily to meet my frugalista home aesthetic needs in my grown-up'edness. Until next time. read more

I love this store! I know that it is part of the sisterhood that is - Marshalls,TPT,HomeGoods - but honestly, I do believe that this chain carries the best prices. Everyone knows that TPT is one of my all time favorites but HomeGoods has to be right up there with it. I am not much of a Marshalls shopper though....it being mainly clothes and such. I wanted to decorate the den in our new house so I came here because they have a whole section dedicated to items for a den. I picked up a globe, leather storage cases, fake leather books with hiden compartments inside, and stuff to make the den more of a comfortable space that I like being in. You can redecorate a whole room at this place and while I was there, I found awesome yellow floral dishes to go with my new china set......shhhhhh, don't tell Mr. D though since I washed them and put them in the cabinet before he even came home....he doesn't have a clue....yet. :) If you walk in to this store....you WILL find something that has your name all over it and you just have to have it. Everybody seems to come here for decor/accent items, but not me. I like to perused the doggie treats, coffee, cleansers, and organic snacks. Yep, you heard right. Here's why... They have a awesome selection of dog treats, toys, beds for your pet at discounted prices. There are times when I'm in that aisle trying to figure out what my picky doxie will like, so many choices. Then there will be times when I won't have much of a choice. They don't keep the same items on stock. So every time I come in, surprise! I kinda like that and their prices are lower than what you'd pay at other pet stores. Pet bed selection is way awesome! I often thought about getting one for my doxie but the last time I bought him a bed, he manage to ripped the seams and unstufffed the stuffing. Metal bed maybe? Nope not here. Eventually i think Kong (brand) will create one. So on to cleaners, yeah when you have oily skin like me, my face is always a mess. I like to come here to try something fancy cleansers but not pay the fancy price. Good for my face and bank account! The coffee prices, well I'm not paying $10 a package at the grocery store, here its mostly $4.99. I still like my flavored coffee at home and here they have every flavor you can think of, salted caramel, cinnamon hazelnut, barvarian chocolate, etc. The organic snacks are must see here! Kale chips, nuts, quinoa granola bars, I'm not gonna give out brands because it is different every time I go in but I've seen products that were sold at wholefoods, here the prices are significantly lower. But don't stay on the shelves long. read more

Home Goods is a nicely organized treasure chest. I love coming in on a gloomy day and perusing the shelves. In my experience the staff here works quickly and quietly. They aren't asking if you need any help finding things, so don't expect it. This is your adventure and they are stocking new items all the time, so don't expect a detailed analysis on what is in stock. I don't often find what I need here, but I find plenty of things I want. read more

Oh. My. Gawd. My friend introduced me to this place when I got my first apartment and I went ballistic. This place has everything you could possibly need for your home and at really terrific prices! They have really good brand name stuff (Lennox, etc) and I particularly enjoy going there for bath towels and picture frames. They have high quality kitchenware (Wooden salad bowls, brand name pots and pans) for sometimes half the price. I used to go to Ross or Marshalls for these kinds of things, but no more! read more

I recently bought pillows at your store. I have ask your employees if there's any animal fur, they said no. Well I was cleaning my house and found some features coming out of the pillows that I've purchased from your store! I now can't return because I have cut the tag. I like the size of the store and the variety of items they carry, as well as the customer service of many associates at this location. However, Sandra, who identified herself as a manager is why I am writing this review. There was a table I saw at the store today that was great, but clearly damaged. There were marks across the whole top of the table, as well as an area inside the table that had chipped off, and one of the two drawers no longer had the self closing feature. I asked one associate about it and she took out furniture polish to try to buff the marks on the top of the table out and couldn't, so I asked if the table might be marked as damaged. She called Sandra over and she said "the reason we can sell everything so cheap is because it's all damaged. Everything is damaged here." ... excuse me? A manager at Home Goods is telling me something about the quality of goods I know not to be true? I am SURE if senior leaders heard she talked about the company this way that there would be ramifications. She additional gave me care instructions for the furniture that weren't true (about the marks blending in over time, etc.) but I was in such shock at this point over her comments around Home Goods' quality, nothing else would have surprised me. I still love Home Goods, but you'd better believe I'll be avoiding this store now as a result. read more

I've already written a review for the Home Goods in the Palm Desert area and I have to say...I feel the same way about this locale!! Actually...this branch gets an even bigger high five on account that not only is it a fantastic store, it's wedged in between BOTH a Stats and a Kohl's!! AND...oh yes, there's more...it's RIGHT across the street from a Target and a Bed Bath and Beyond!! What more can a girl ask for when she's redecorating her pad? Not much. Home Goods offers up great brands at discounted prices. They have bedding, towels, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, some food, decorator items, mirrors, lamps and artwork amongst other cool things. If you're looking for that one special knick knack for your armoire and don't want to spend an arm and a leg...go here. Also a great place to stock up on party stuff...ie. plates, utensils, napkins and the like. read more

This is one my favorite stores. I love getting high and going to Home Goods. It's one of my fav stores to be high in. Really good vibes. Pretty colors to keep my attention. Sweet old ladies and bored moms and housewives make the atmosphere very welcoming, calm and happy. I never leave without buying something. My wife always has good luck. Whenever there's some off the cuff item she wants, she finds it here. For example; today she's looking for a canister to store salt in. Not a salt shaker mind you. And wouldn't you know it? Home Goods had her covered. I'm so high tripping out on this throw pillow. Theres like, fur on it. It's like a shag carpet but it's a pillow. And it's soft and fluffy. Haha. I want it now. Also really good place to fancy looking stuff for your bathrooms. And they have beautiful dog beds for cheap. I love this place. read more

The associates here are very friendly. And the manager definitely needs to give Tina a promotion. She is the best associate and has never failed to provide excellent customer service. We do not live close there but the freeway drive is worth just seeing her. She takes the time to build a good customer relationship and remembers us after only one visit. During one visit we talked about my workplace, and our next visit, she remembered and asked about my job and if I'm still working there.
