We are so grateful we chose this venue for our wedding! From the very beginning, the booking process was incredibly easy, and the staff made us feel welcomed and supported every step of the way. The coordinator and staff were personable, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our day special. They took the time to listen to our ideas and offered thoughtful suggestions on how to make the space work best for our vision. Their experience and attention to detail were invaluable. Honestly, we had planned to "wing it" when it came to the setup, but when we arrived, we were blown away. The entire upstairs area had been beautifully organized with seating, and they had even created an aisle for me to walk down. It was such a special surprise and made the ceremony feel even more meaningful than we had imagined. We specifically chose this venue because we wanted an intimate wedding surrounded by our closest family and friends, and with about 40 guests, the space was absolutely perfect. On first impression, the atmosphere was welcoming. It was rustic and had a warm vibe, We went about 6:30 on a Friday night and were seated right away. Took a minute for our waiter to arrive for our order. The beer was served promptly but the food took a while. The food and beer were both ok, as was the service. The food is good and they have a nice taproom. I have been to Homegrown twice and the beer selection has been pretty good during each visit. There are a lot of parking spots out back so it isn't too hard to get a spot. The service has been good during each visit. I'm always trying to check out new places with my lunch friends, and this came up on my list. With the Grand Prix in town and pride month starting, it limited where I was going to go due to crowd size and such. So, I chose a location that was not in Ferndale or downtown to make things easier on everyone. Walking in, there seems to be ample seating space. There were two larger parties/families already eating so we sat at a high top table. They offer Sunday brunch but we were so hungry we started off with the beer cheese and pretzel bites. the pretzel bites were good, but also simultaneously tasted like donuts? Interesting. the cheese was a little bit difficult to spread but still good. Our server forgot to bring us plates to eat on, which was kind of annoying. They both kept doing this and even though they were wonderful people, they seemed to forget small stuff and like syrup for my french toast, extra plates for the appetizer, napkins, no straws, etc. I didn't get a drink because I was already so tired it would've made me fall asleep at the table. Also, I docked a star because this place is insanely LOUD. They need to do something because we could hardly hear ourselves talk and the acoustics were awful. They also have some games sprinkled throughout the venue. The service was nice, very polite and prompt without being in your face. The food was fantastic! Ordered take out tonight and everything was gross. Will not be ordering ever again from here. The pretzels and beer cheese came with the cheese cold and chunky, was never melted in the first place. We had to reheat it ourselves. I also ordered the rice bowl and it was disgusting. There was no seasoning and no green sauce. Really good beer and very tasty food. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, very tasty and unlike any we have had in the past. It was cheesier than any other spinach, artichoke dip and served with soft yet toasted sliced pita pieces and was extremely good. I had the "Spicy Chicken Pita House-made chicken patty tossed in HGBC Avery Ale buffalo sauce, pickles, shredded lettuce & gorgonzola crème on toasted pita" , it was really good but didn't quite hit a home run with me for dinner. The fries that came with it however were extremely good ! Wife had the "Roasted Cauliflower Salad Oven-roasted cauliflower, feta cheese crème, quinoa, fried shallots, mixed greens w/ lemon vinaigrette" that she absolutely loved. Was in town visiting friends and stopped here for dinner. It is a cool brewery. We were there around 5:00pm, so we were able to be seated right away before the dinner rush. Our service was not great. Our waitress gave us the scoop on what they were out of on the menu due to a busy Father's Day. That was cool. I ordered the chicken dish and they ordered the shrimp dish. One of them ordered a water with lemon In which turned out to be a kind of big deal. Our waitress brought the water, but they are out of lemons, but she offered a lime. Great! 20 minutes later. No lime. We tried to wave her down, but couldn't get her attention. So one of my friends went to her and asked her if she can bring the lime. Her response? I have to go cut it up. Um... ok. Sorry to bother you, but you offered it. Our food was good. I had the apple Riesling wine that was excellent. I still left a 20% tip, Because I think everyone in the service industry deserves to be compensated after this pandemic. But I certainly wouldn't have otherwise. read more

I had the pretzel bites with beer cheese$12. They were fine except for the not spreadable beer cheese. It was minced cheese and did not lend itself to spread on the bites. Next I had the chicken nugwich sandwich,$15, the bun was soaked with undrained coleslaw dressing, the meat was grey looking. Yes, I did talk to the waiter about these problems. He said he would talk w/the cook. The Little Sunshine Pale Ale was fine. I typically have the Chicken Lo Mein $18, which is delicious and that's what I will have next time. read more

I had the Chicken Nugwich sandwich, was a little disappointed it was not very flavorful. Could not really taste the sauce that was on it at all, even the coleslaw didn't really have a strong taste. The chicken was okay, not the best chicken sandwich I've had by far though. I'd give it a 4 out of 10. Do not go here for food or service. Both are horribly below average both in quality and speed. Incredibly disappointed. Waited over an hour for food, server never checked on us, both the burger and braut were severed cold not warm cold. Even the second attempt was poor. The cook came out and complained he only had three months experience. Go to McDonald's it is a step up. read more

LOBSTER RISOTTO. We did the igloo and had an incredible experience. We expected to enjoy their beer and were not disappointed, but we had no idea they had their own wine as well and would highly recommend. Without question however, the star was the food. We tried almost everything, both menu option burgers, ramen with pork, chicken lo mein, spicy chicken wrap, the burrata caprese salad, chicken wings and Brussels sprouts. All were fantastic. THE STAR OF THE SHOW WAS THE LOBSTER RISOTTO. Without question the best risotto I have personally ever had. I would recommend this to anyone I meet. The food is really good, but the last 3 or 4 times I have been there it has taken an average of an hour to get our food. In two instances we weren't even greeted or gotten a drink order for 20+ minutes. Today I went with a group of ten people, it took a long time for them to come take our orders. I got the Classic, which is eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and toast. It took well over an hour for anyone to get their food, and after everyone got their burgers, mac n cheese, etc, I still waited an additional 8-10 minutes to get my breakfast after that. Waiting well over an hour for bacon and eggs is just ridiculous. It's my husband's favorite food so we still make a point to go there occasionally, but if you are in a rush this is not the place to go! Service is not good, and often time half of the dishes come out cold. read more

We had a disappointing first impression tonight. The menu looks great and we have heard great things, but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the chicken chow mein and it was mediocre at best. My husband ordered chicken Alfredo and said the same - perhaps pasta isn't their thing? But we also ordered the pretzel bites with beer cheese and that was...man, I don't know if there are words. The pretzel bites looked like deep fried bbq chicken wings and the beer cheese was semi-melted cheese shreds. I have been wanting to check this place out for several years and tonight was the night! He's been here before but this was my first time. We both live about half an hour away so it's not that far from us. This whole downtown area is adorable. I love it. I was pleasantly surprised by this place though. You can street park in front of the brewery or go around back. The parking lot is fairly big. When you walk up, there is a really cool big patio area with giant fire pits. These fire pits out off a lot of heat too. Sitting by them you actually got hot! This isn't a huge place, but big enough and cozy. The bar is quite large. It was a very busy night as it was their Halloween party. I got $1.00 of my beer because I was dressed up. Pretty much everyone was in costume. That always makes things more fun! They were having a karaoke contest as well. We samples a few beers but I am kind of boring. I stuck with my brown. What can I say? I like what I like. They did have a decent selection of beer. We wanted to eat while we were there. He got a burger which was really big. It was juicy and delicious. I got a rice bowl with pulled pork. I didn't eat the rice though. It was still filling. They have a beer it forward board there too. It was fun to see the unique ideas. You can beer it forward to someone you know, or someone random. We chose to beer it forward to a fellow nurse. So next time a nurse comes in they can get a free beer. You can also get $1 off beer during happy hour if you do a Yelp check in. Probably just the first time, but either way. They also participate in tagabrew and hop passport. So you can get 50% off your first two beers when you use hop passport! Super fun! We really loved this place and will definitely be back. One of our favorite places for an outdoor dining option. We are not drinks connoisseurs, but we do like their cider. I like Guinness and, to me, their steamboat stout is really enjoyable. The homemade pretzel bites with beer cheese are my favorite appetizer anywhere. But since they're homemade, occasionally they run out. That happened on our last visit, so we tried the spinach and artichoke dip. It was great, but I would definitely recommend _not_ getting the cheese sprinkled on top. My wife thought it tasted like burned plastic, and I thought it tasted like lighter fluid. We scraped off the cheese layer and then got back to enjoying the dip. Probably the best aspect of this place is the plant-based options - you usually expect a lot of heavy meat dishes to accompany beer. I enjoyed the veggie burger, though I would recommend ordering extra greens to go with it. my wife likes their pho (ramen) - again, ask if they can give you extra vegetables in the broth. This is a great dinning option in the summer/warm months. My family and I enjoyed their patio this summer and really loved this place. It has a real hometown feel but their beer selection says they are much bigger than expected. My girls loved their Mac n cheese (of course) and I was pleased to see they were not being served box. I actually kept stealing bites form them bc it was that good. Hubs had their house burger, delicious, juicy, and large. I had their rice bowl but subbed the pork for chicken. It was delicious with lots of unique veg that had my family stealing my food as well. Their beer was amazing and hubs and I both had a flight to try lots of their brews. Last week 16 friends gathered for a 40th bday celebration at 6:30pm. We had made a reservation ahead of time. The attendees included a restaurant owner and other local business owners. The experience was not the best due to a few things that could have been handled better....... - background- it was a slow night 5 tables outside 2 inside, a 4 top and a 2 top plus 3 people at bar. There were 4 waitstaff working including the bartender. So basically a slow Thursday night with the exception of our group. We spent at least an average of $60 per person which included food and drinks. Tip was not added but our group was generous despite the problem stated. - the service was slow, but the waitress was pleasant - the beer was pretty good and the food was tasty for the most part depending on the dish selected. I had the roasted vegetables with a lemon vinaigrette which was very tasty. A couple of friend had the drumsticks, which were large and juicy. The problem arose when we asked the waitress for some side plates for the birthday pies we brought to share, she said there would be a $35 charge because they have pies and cakes on their menu. None of us had ever heard of such a policy. Some restaurants will charge a small fee to cut and serve desert, but never a flat out $35 fee. We were not informed of this policy nor do I believe it was on the menu anywhere. When we questioned the waitress, she said it was the policy - no apology. She knew we were not happy and offered we speak to the owner/manager but he never came to our table to address our concern. As a good businessman, he should have done two things. 1) come to our table to address our concern 2) waive the charge due to the amount of money we had spent that evening. If he wants to charge the "dessert Fee" then he should put it on the menu or tell people when they make reservations. Also the policy should change to: The fee will be waived depending on the total spend ( set an amount ) for each group. That was just not good business and will have a negative impact going forward. read more

After ten minutes one of us approach the hostess to request water for the table. Thank goodness a runner brought our food to the table if we had to rely on our absent server it surly would have been cold upon arrival. This is a spot that we truly enjoy! There is just something special about Homegrown as you walk in the doors. We have stopped here a few times over the past two years and each and every time, we really enjoy our experience. It's nice to see the additions to the brewery such as food and a cool patio area for seating. They also have a space for darts, which we love, and a large area for hosting events upstairs. Just recently, Homegrown has been recognized/awarded metals for their unique brews! One thing we found especially unique, they have a beeritforward board. You can prepay for friends to have a drink and write a special message to them! I thought that was such a unique idea, and that's exactly what we did. It makes me feel good to share the love of beer with friends...lol! Who knows, maybe someone will beeritforward for you, too! read more

This was a stop on one of our brewery excursions. A very friendly, welcoming place. We got there as it opened so we were about the only people in the place so we grabbed a seat at the bar. We were just cruising through so just had a beer and an appetizer. The pretzel with beer cheese was amazing. The cheese had a nice round flavor with a little bite. It was just right with their Ruck-a-Chuck IPA. It's not close to where I live but will certainly be a stop next time I am in the area. read more

Homegrown is a legit, fantastic home town favorite! My hubby and I have been meaning to try it since it opened (nothing like procrastination.... we went 8 months after it opened!). We popped in on a Sunday to taste test the beers. We ordered 2 samplers for $12 each- each beer was clean and true to style. I enjoyed each one of them. After we finished our samplers, we ordered a pint of the seasonal beers. The pumpkin beer was incredible. Hubby really liked his IPA too. We have returned many times for food and beer. The food is incredible.... shrimp and grits are amazing!!!!!!!! I love their homemade bread! Actually everything we have had has been really, really good. The service is also top notch!
