Yesterday, we were doing a charity ride to raise money for veterans. Our last stop before having to check back in was this establishment. We were very short on time, as our group was getting our stamps, we were discussing that we needed to make a group ride back out to this place. Well, the manager or it could have been the owner came out after us wanting the contacts number. I thought I had it, but we were wasting her time, and she had a nasty attitude towards us. I am sorry you felt this was a waste of time to help veterans. I will and have let my family and friends know how you all felt. We WILL NEVER be back to this place. read more

The food here is always very good. We have been here dozens of times over the last four years or so. Favorites are the Steak Hoagie, Fish and Chips, Burger, Fried Mushrooms and their Pizza is quite good ! Always good service from the servers but sometimes the food takes a while to arrive from the kitchen. Also if they get a little busy they won't take any call in carry out orders which is a bit crazy. Inside has that small town small bar, cozy atmosphere and you always feel welcome. Portions are very good and prices are fair. Good Food ! read more

it's said all good things must come to an end well this is it for Mikey's Bar. Mike sold the Bar and the food was excellent there when Mike had it but is poor now and the atmosphere is not friendly and cozy like it was when Mike owned it. Tried it several times under new ownership but just not too good so after about 10 years or so of coming here we're done. read more

I always loved the corned beef sandwich here. 13 years running. Got one the other day, after the restaurant sold, and it was horrible. Dont grill the corned beef in oil, then put it in bread and fry that in oil till it is black. Mikey didnt serve his corned beef that way. So sad. Done here. read more

We had a charity fund raiser for disabled and homeless Vets. Mikeys was our last stop and we were crunched for time. We couldn't stay for food so they treated us horrible and said we were wasting their time. Letting all our riders know to avoid this place. Located in an over 100 year old bank building, on Main Street. Heard and read of the good food, along with generous portions. Not disappointed! The decor on one side of the place is great- brick walls and arches.service could not have been any better! Shared a 3? Piece walleye special, with fries, along with a steak grinder. 4. 5 pieces of fish - lightly battered. Very good. The grinder - probably a foot long - loaded with tons of meat and toppings! Lots of fries ! Saw mike - working hard, cooking in the kitchen. Think I will need to come back - try other items on menu. $32- included 4 of the coldest bottles of beer I have ever had - and tip.also have 1/2 sandwich- for leftovers. read more

Driving through Almont you'll likely notice a lack of food options. Decided to try this on a whim given the couple of reviews and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Nothing fancy about this place, but it does its job pretty cheaply! Had a steak sandwich, the BLT and a salad with tuna, all of which we're delicious. I think the salad was most surprising as all the veg looked super fresh. I sort of pegged almont as a carnivore only locale, but given that salad, Mikey's has proved me wrong. Definitely worth checking out if you're passing through and hungry! read more

The burger and the price do not match. Heading North, we were hungry and decided in the middle of a long stretch of 'not much' to get lunch. This is the closest Google had to offer, and since we like to try local restaurants, we gave it a shot. We got there in the early afternoon on a Thursday. My husband, daughter and I went in and bellyed up since the place was pretty empty. The main bar area was kind of small and dated, but I was digging the small town vibe. Part of the place was 'closed' with lights out, and that was the part we walked through from parking behind the place, so that was a bit creepy at first. My husband and I ordered a burger each and my daughter did a grilled cheese (mercifully, the burger would have eaten HER) I wonder if the bartender laughed to himself, because in no time, the biggest burger I have ever seen was placed in front of me. (Wait, I ordered the $5 burger, didn't I?) It looked delicious. I took a bite and WOW! It was amazing. So not only could we have all had lunch on one burger (and probably the table next to us) , it was a really good burger to boot! I got all gluttonous (Blame the perfectly mixed, ample-sized, Jack and Diet I had on the side) and ate the whole burger and it made me an extremely happy soul. Not greasy, but juicy, Just good ole fashioned burger flavor with a fresh bun and toppings. It's not often that a burger makes me this happy! I did glance at the kitchen on the way out, when we gave our compliments to the cook, who playfully retorted that we 'didn't get the big one.' The kitchen is small, old, and maybe not as brightly lit as a more modern kitchen, but I didn't see anything that would have been a health concern to me. Definitely do yourself a favor and stop in here. We were on our way and hit a bunch of Fast food places pretty quickly north of Almont, and I was so glad that we spent our $5 here instead of there. Since the Thumb area is a common camping destination for us, we plan to come here every time we drive through. Good stuff. read more

I'm very surprised at how good this place has become. If you want good, cheap, fast food, this is the place to go in town. They're the only bar in town with good food and Club Keno. Mikey's a nice guy, and he's usually there cooking or tending bar. You'll know it's him by the fact that he wears shorts 365 days out of the year. Watch out for drunkards. They're all over. We really enjoyed our time here. The pizza we ordered was awesome! We also ordered onion rings that were pretty good too and not a small order, pretty good amount. We sat right next to the pool table and the guys played and ate at the same time. It was a good place to get away and spend some good quality family time together. OMG, this is me and my hubs new fave place to watch sports games! Where else can three people eat dinner, an app, and have about 8 beers for $39?! There's NO crowd, food comes out super fast, and plenty of parking! Not only is the food great and cheap, but it's really nice to not have to arrive super early to get a seat at the bar. The food is good... but that's it. The service is TERRIBLE. If you aren't one of their local buddy's who are in there every day, they really don't care about your empty glass, or bottle. I walked in on a Sunday night, & they told me to hurry up & order, because they were getting ready to close. Then one of there regulars walked in, and they were told to take their time. I live in Almont, & I've been to this place several times, & have had the same experience every time. I have a friend who is a regular, & I went with him once, & the service was totally different. Like night & day. They were friendly, didn't rush us, made sure our drinks were taken care of. They have great food, but it's not worth Mary's shitty service. But, if your a regular & become buddy's with them, then I guess you'll be treated like a king. read more

We were driving through Almont and thought we would try Mikey's. It was late Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. It did take a few minutes to get someone to tell us to seat ourselves. We did quickly have a waitress come to our table and take our drink order. We ordered appetizers, a burger, and the Rueben grinder. It did take a little bit but the waitress was friendly, attentive, and honest that it would be awhile. Fried pickles were really good and the fried cauliflower had a nice breading (2-3 very large pieces were on the verge of having some raw dough in the middle but still good!) and a good portion for the price. My burger was a good bar burger and HUGE. The grinder was even more HUGE and was absolutely amazing. I would not normally order a reuben but thought it was amazing and if we stopped in again, I'd probably get it. The corned beef was so tender and the bread was great. Has the most disgusting kitchen I've ever seen. I can't see how they pass health department inspections! People in town rave about their giant burgers and fish but once I ate there and saw the kitchen, I quickly marked it off my list. Food was greasy and made me feel queasy knowing where they made it.
