Don't let the unassuming building exterior and parking lot fool you, this is a top-notch, excellent family dining establishment. We reside in Sterling Heights, by Lakeside Mall, where we are surrounded by lots of delicious restaurant options but we decided to explore the Oxford/Lapeer area and stopped at this Marios for a bite to eat. The prices are a bit on the high side but you certainly get what you pay for. The food is homemade and served at the proper temperature. I ordered the French Onion soup and loved it. The cheese atop the soup was smooth and not chewy. The broth, onions and even the croutons were cooked to perfection for this type of soup...ate/drank every bit of it. I also ordered the sweet potato fries and they were the best I have ever tasted. They were crispy and perfectly salted on the outside and soft/steamy on the inside...perfection! Mom had the country omelet. Mom had ice tea and I had coffee - our bill was $44.00 after tipping; a lot of $ in my opinion for two people to have brunch. The inside is very cozy with booths, tables and stools as sitting options. There are a couple of tv's with one or two of them NOT turned to sports...PTL and thank you. The service was excellent! Our server was very patient, knowledgeable and kind. My 86 yr mom has Parkinson's making her voice soft, decision making a challenge and often cranky because she misses her old self. Just a normal family dining place that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner? Absolutely not! Best tasting coffee, menu variety and exceptional service. The food was good but very pricey for what we received. Very nice atmosphere. Pancakes & Ham; Gyro; 2 child menus with drinks. $40.95 + tax & tip is $50! Nothing special. Service was friendly and good. Food was good not great. Not what I used to remember it as when I was younger. Desert seems to be a better value and deal than the meals. Good place to eat. Excellent breakfast place with a rather large selection of not only breakfast items but a large lunch & dinner menu too. My wife loves the SFBA Omelette (spinach, bacon, feta, avocado) while our granddaughter goes for the different types of crepes or pancakes like Nutella or Berries and Cream. I tend to try different dishes every time we go but a classic for me is a Vegetarian Omelette with American Cheese smothered with Ciney Chili... Mmm-Mmm Good ! read more

The food is pretty good. The biscuits were actually the best I've ever had. This was our second visit since we dont get to Oxford often. The problem is their seating everyone close together. We were one of three occupied booths with lots of open seating. The next 2 parties to arrive had multiple small children. The sat tham all right next to us instead of spacing diners out. Our meal is now ruined by squealing kids. Same thing last visit. I know they do it purely for their convenience but i hate it so much we won't be back. Consider your guests! read more

I've already given mario's a 5 start review, but I wanted to update... My last order was a burger. Honestly, I'm sorry, but they're really not very good. The burger patty itself was overcooked, dry, and actually cold. I know that can be blamed on delivery, at least a little bit. The toppings and bun were FABULOUS though, and I have to give props for that. I just got an order this evening of their gyros, which are excellent. I asked in my instructions to add some ranch and one extra pita. Didn't get either. I was happy to honor an extra charge, but I not tell them that so I guess that's on me. No matter what I want, Mario's is my FAVORITE! They handle my asinine requests like lite lettuce in a salad (really I'm there for the toppings, but I like a hint of lettuce - lol) and even offered to make me some handmade chicken tenders one night because they were out of their normal ones. I've had an issue with my order twice out of at least 25+ orders in the last year and ya know what, they called me back and made it right. Love this place. Breakfast is the meal that's home cooked. Went three times for dinner. I questioned if the meatloaf was homemade, instant potatoes and canned gravy. Hamburger was overpriced. Food was great. Our server was terrible. She never greeted us and just asked us what we wanted and we had to ask for everything. She never asked for refills she didn't do Jack. My water had no ice, the best part is after that she took 15 minuets to get our bill just to hand it to us crumbled out of her pocket. Not once did she ask us how our food was or anything. Rueben was the best ever also try the Siciliano chicken salad any salad at Mario's is always fresh and crisp.the best soups also. I also love the Lola salad with chicken.
