Did a little impromptu visit last night with our neighbor and kids plus daughter and grandkids. Was very pleased with the service (four yong kids 7-11 years old and four adults. Our server Hailey was definitely put to the test as we were seated upstairs out of the way of others. She truly was spot on juggling our two tables and getting it all done with a smile. The Rueben egg rolls were delicious though for a Irish place not having different mustards on hand made makes me wonder. Dughter had the Salmon, a bit dry but still good. We arrived with plans to have Shepherds Pie. The establishment was clean and the staff welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. We were underwhelmed with the Shepherds Pie. The ground beef it contained amounted to perhaps a small meatball. The vegetables (cubed potatoes, peas, carrots, corn) were undercooked. The mashed potatoes covering the meat/vegetable/gravy amounted to twice the volume of the meat mixture. I'm sure we will go back for dinner, but definitely not the the Shepherds Pie. read more

Soup was great. The service was not good. I had my water refilled twice in the hour and a half we were there. My partner's salmon was so salty it was inedible. It took ten minutes for the server to get back to our table, and when we said the salmon was too salty the server didn't apologize and just took it away. My partner ordered a cake so she could at least eat something. When the bill came, the server told us that they had taken 30% off the salmon (just the salmon), not even our entire bill, instead of just comping the salmon. We will unfortunately not be back, and will be going to homegrown or someplace in Oxford that has servers that care about their job. read more

Had a great time here Saturday night with the snow falling outside. Felt like we might have been right there in Limerick. Everything from the narrow stair cases to the bar and bar seats reminds you of Ireland. And then the food seals the deal. Great little pub with an old fashioned atmosphere and friendly servers! No wait to dine on a Friday evening which was nice. Our food was good but not great (Reuben did not have grilled/griddled bread, and the fish n chips were not as good as O'Malley's Galley), but I want to come back in cooler weather to try their Irish dishes which I imagine are their specialties. It was the most flavorless fish I've ever had. If it wasn't for the mass produced tartar sauce it wouldn't have tasted like anything. Chips were decent I guess. My sister and her boyfriend took me here for dinner since they knew I liked Irish pubs. This place is pretty cool. There are two eating areas on the main floor: the bar area and the backroom. But, there's also a place upstairs. We had a drink near the bar, while we waited for our table. The place was quite busy. When our table was ready, we were seated in the backroom. The area did get a bit chilly at times, whenever the door would open. Beer: Smithwick's and Bell's Two Hearted Ale For dinner, they recommended the fish and chips. We were looking for something different to do than the same old Corktown celebration for St Patty's Day. We planned our day so that we could stay closer to home and meet up with my sister at the end of the day. We started out at Sullivan's Public House in Oxford. This was my first time here but he's tried it before and enjoyed it. When we pulled up we knew it was going to be very busy. We could hardly find a parking spot. We were clearly not the only ones with this idea. By 10 am this place was completely packed!! It's not very big there but we managed to stay comfy! They had bag pipes playing all day there! All of the tables were reserved but we were able to get a spot on the chair rail. Every server was running around but never failed to smile and greet us. We started off with Irish Car Bombs (whoop whoop!) And then switched to their green beer which I think was Miller Lite. We decided to get the Ruben Egg Rolls and they were magnificent!! Our go to favorite place!!! Trust me and order: fish and chips with an old fashion. We don't even look at the menu any more. BEST fish and chips in a 30 mile radius (maybe more). HUGE fish pieces with a light crunch that is never greasy. The fries are heaven and i could live off them. How. Dare. You. That was butter, wasn't it? Butter in that chicken pot pie. That homemade chicken pot pie. That's just evil. Deliciously, wonderfully, evil. I was having one helluva crappy day so I said to my husband, I just want to go out somewhere quiet, have a cocktail, and just relax. We rolled the dice and ended up at Sullivan's. It was a Wednesday, so there were only a few people there. GREAT. We sat at a table near the bar. Noise level, normal. There was music playing (I think??) but it wasn't obtrusive. THANK YOU. Got served immediately. I decided to try their Smoked Fashion and was not disappointed. We decided to grab the Pub Board to start. YUM. That smoked salmon spread was great. But when you put it on that marble rye - even better! What a nice board with just enough tasty treats to whet an appetite. For dinner my husband got the Shepherd's Pie and I got Chicken Pot Pie. That Shepherd's pie had delightfully real mashed taters on top - thank you very much. Unfortunately that's all I got to taste from my husband's plate! :) Let's get back to that Chicken Pot Pie. We've been there several times But my daughter took us there for Mother's Day brunch. Disappoint ed in the service and my son in laws quiche was cold and he asked for no bacon because he is vegetarian but they served it to him any way. We were there a couple weeks earlier and was very good. Just don't know why Mother's Day would be any different. Never got our dessert either. Ask for another mimosa and waitress told us they were out. And not five minutes later another waiter walked outside with a tray of them for another table . I ordered the crème brûlée. The picture was lovely and had berries on top. When I received it, it was nothing more than mush dumped upside down in a plastic container. They don't know how to prepare their crème brûlée for takeout and bake in disposable dishes. The manager was very rude, and shorted me on my refund. Will not be back. read more

I was ready for some Irish Cuisine when we decided to have our monthly lunch group meet up at Sullivan's Public House in Oxford. Our group size varies from four to as many as twelve and today it was ten. Since we hadn't been here before and our group was large I called to see if we could make a reservation and they set it up for us at 11:30am. When you enter you see a typical look of an Irish pub and the main dining area is upstairs. Things were quiet at the time we arrived and our group basically had the entire dining room to ourselves, along with Rachel, our server who was right on top of everything. She explained the weekend Brunch Menu that included breakfast selections, salads, and sandwiches, some with Irish flavors. It did not include what I had planned to choose from like Shepherds Pie or Fish & Chips, so that was a disappointment, but we still found some good choices. My wife decided to order the Michigan Salad that was packed with Candied Walnuts and Dried Cherries. I, on the other hand, tried the Irish Dip, a thick Corned Beef Sandwich with Au Jus for dipping, and fresh cut Fries. Of course I needed a Guinness but just a 16 oz glass because diet (just kidding). My wife said her salad was good but kind of basic. I really liked my Irish Dip and, obviously the Guinness with a silky smooth foamy cap. When the time came for dessert where we normally pass, because we had been looking at pictures posted by other Yelpers of the Guinness Chocolate Cake so we ordered one to split. Rachel explained that it was no longer a Cake with Guinness in it but that we could order what they called a Baby Guinness that was a mixed shot of Kahlua & Bailey's that we could pour over the cake, which we did...Mmmmm! I wanted to lick the plate when we finished but my more refined self settled for just drinking the remaining liquid from the corner of the plate as shown in the video my wife couldn't resist shooting! Oxford offers a surprising array of eateries from Chinese to BBQ and everything in between. Among those is a true to form Irish pub called Sullivan's. On the north end of town Sullivan's offers a traditional pub experience with gastro pub fare. Bright spotlessly clean and nicely decorated Sullivan's ticks all the boxes. With a great selection of beer on tap and a well stocked bar AL H. Junior and I decided to give it a try after boating on Lakeville Lake. Now I live right around the corner yet hadn't tried the place. Usually with my dog in tow it wasn't possible. Tonight the stars aligned. I ordered my usual macro brew Harp that was nice and cold. AlH. JR had a Sprite and we decided on dinner. The menu is extensive with Irish faves. I opted for Shepherd's pie, AlH Jr had Bangers and mashed. Both were delicious and huge. AH Jr ate like he was going to the chair! I ate half and had the rest to go. All in a great experience with even better food. I've heard of the luck of the Irish, but this is pure skill! Great to see a nice place located in oxford with an awesome owner. Have been here twice and the owner is out speaking with people and welcoming them. The chef also came out tonight to say hello. The atmosphere here is pretty cool. A little bar area and an upstairs for larger parties. We had a very large party and they were very attentive and quick on all the service. We got the fish and chips and the corn beef dip. Both were very good. Great homemade fries! The menu had several Irish classics which all looked across the table. Came here on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day for brunch and I will definitely be back. They have a mimosa/bloody mary special Saturdays and Sundays from 11am - 3pm (their brunch hours). Your first drink is $5 and each drink after that is only $1. And you can switch back and forth between mimosas or bloody marys. So needless to say I downed 3 mimosas in 30 minutes since I had got there at 2:30pm and didn't know about this awesome deal. For the food, I got the Irish Dip sandwich. Since it was the day before St. Patrick's day, the bartender informed me that they were running low on corned beef and said they only had enough for about 2/3 the amount they usually put on the sandwich. This was totally fine with me because I get full super easily, so this portion size was perfect for me. This sandwich was delicious and I am still craving another. I got the chips as the side and they had a little barbecue flavor with them, they were good. My boyfriend got the corned beef hash and it was also super good, I was just very obsessed with my sandwich. For their brunch you can order off the brunch menu, salad menu, or the burger/sandwich menu, which is super nice. The food was awesome and the service was great as well. I was a little hungry and was feeling under the weather with Bronchitis. My wife had class, so it was a fend for yourself night. I decided to stop off at Sullivan's Public House for dinner. I ordered the corned beef egg rolls that were served with a side of thousand Island dressing for an appetizer. They came nice and pipping hot. They were tasty. I ordered the Bacon and cabbage dish for my dinner. It came with mashed potatoes, a huge slice of braised cabbage and nice sized chunks of pork smothered in a mustard cream sauce. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, but the whole meal was very good. The server was very nice and gave some good recommendations. The Ambiance reminded me of a classy Irish pub. After a round of golf we decided to stop in for an early dinner. Service was excellent but the group all agreed that the food was just okay for the money spent. The pretzel and beer cheese starter would have been great if only the beer cheese had the normal zing. My wife who eats very boring food liked it because she does not appreciate anything spicy. The sausage entree that I ordered was just okay and the mashed potatoes were barely warm and stiff. We wanted to try this authentic Irish cuisine based on the many good reviews here but were left feeling a bit disappointed. Perhaps we all ordered the wrong items? Highly unlikely. After my husband read the less than positive reviews I decided to order the Corned Beef Fry. One word, delicious. Poached eggs were good corned beef was tasty. Guinness Demi glacé was a very nice addition. Can't get anything this tasty from a can!! Bloody Mary, yum!! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to have a conversation w/out having to talk over the music. Yet still enjoyed the chosen genre. Our server was very personable and did a great job. The owner interacted constantly with everyone there. Will definitely be back to try more Irish fare! BTW, this place is FAR better than Red Coat Tavern as it has been compared to. read more

First time here! Yummy! Kids loved their chicken tenders and French toast! My other half and I ordered the burger. I read the other reviews about their burger. People making bold statements that Sullivan's burgers are better then Redcoat Tavern? My weigh in is: Redcoat is still number one in my book however this burger is probably my second or third choice. If you live in Oxford it would be number one choice because it's saves trip going all way out to Royal Oak. Another thought: if Sullivan offered more options like the Redcoat Tavern it may be a serious challenger. Sullivan burger is not as thick as the Redcoat Tavern however it does have the same taste of one. The Owner and Staff are super friendly!! Great place!! We will be back!! read more

The food and the service was wonderful! Jerry, the owner, came to check on us and was so kind. He let us know all of the menu items are original recipes from his mother in Ireland. I never finish any of my meals (I'm the family mouse) and the chicken pot pie was INCREDIBLE! I was just there yesterday and was considering coming up for lunch again today to get the chicken pot pie, but they are closed on Sundays. I'll be back on Tuesday for more. Amazing experience every time! Sullivan's is an authentic Irish pub (no neon Bud Light signs here!) Great food in a comfortable cozy atmosphere. They have a wide selection of cuisine from the classics like shepherds pie or bangers and mash to surf and turf or fresh Atlantic salmon. I have eaten my way through the menu, and enjoyed every bite.
