Such a fun and educational experience. As soon as you walk in everyone makes you fell welcomed, you are not being judged, everyone is there to learn how to cook. No previous cooking experience needed what so ever. Class is great for all levels: beginners, pros, never touched a knife before type of people. Class is fun and energized... I was somewhat skeptical at first but by the end of the class all I wanted to do was go home and cook some more. You start off by an introduction of the class and what they are all about. Then they explain to you the layout of the kitchen and what 3 recipes you will cook that day. You work off your cooking station and in designated teams. They teach you safety tips and tricks while you cook. The class I attended was great.... They are all about healthy cooking with healthy ingredients. Only downside is pricing.... Average about $50-$60 per class, once a week, 5 or 10 week programs offered. That unfortunately is a bit much for my wallet but like I said its worth it if you can afford it. . I have fallen in love with Homemade Cooking! I met one of the girls who helps runs the show and I am so glad I went down to Menlo Park to try what the program was all about. Not only did I get to eat (and learn how to make) a delicious frittata, salad, and dessert, but I got to be around awesome people and have an overall amazing evening. People: So dedicated and sweet! The Homemade crew is really knowledgeable about the ingredients, how to prepare them, how to mix & match, etc. They are extremely excited about what they're doing and it is impossible to not get behind their mission. Food: Delicious and creative. I had a blast chopping my organic swiss chard and portobello mushrooms. In the end, the frittata and salad we made were absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to recreate the meal using the recipes they sent us after the class. The chocolate drops at the end of the meal were also super yummy. Experience: I can't rate this high enough! It was such a fun evening. My boyfriend and I had a blast cooking together, met some really great people, and bonded with the Homemade girls. I cannot wait to go back and do another class and when Homemade is in SF, I'll be signing up for their healthy food coaching course! :) read more

Very enjoyable, easy to follow recipes and hands on cooking lessons! All conducted in a fun, supportive and entertaining environment. The classes are conducted very professionally (yet in an easy going atmosphere) by trained chefs and you get hands on experience on how to make delicious and healthy snacks & meals in minutes. You can wow your friends and guests by making healthy snacks/meals that taste great and look amazing! Gain confidence in the kitchen and enjoy the art of cooking. After a scheduling snafu and miscommunications, the class was a joy to attend! Leave the stress of the workday behind for a few hours and learn to cook and make new friends. The best part is at the end of each class you and your classmates get to eat what you all cooked! As for me it's time to say good-bye to Shake'N Bake - thanks for being there! but I have moved on to making delicious and healthy meals in minutes. read more

I signed up for 10-week course this summer and I enjoyed every class (two-hour class per week). The class has a very casual setting and comfortable atmosphere. I interacted with two sets of instructors and assistants over the course and they were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The recipes of the week are e-mailed to the students ahead of time. The summarized instructions are given in the beginning of every class. There are many demonstrations as well. But the best part is the actual hands on cooking! Usually we get all the chopping and slicing done first then move onto mixing and sautéing in groups of 3 to 4. At the end of the cooking, we all sit down around the table and enjoy the meal. This is a social cooking gathering!! Lots and lots of fun :-) I loved all recipes selected for this course with a couple of exceptions (not bad but less interested ones to me). They are not overwhelming and never called "hard-to-get" ingredients, so I actually recreated more than several recipes at home! I highly recommend Homemade Cooking! read more

This was the best cooking class I have been to! Most importantly the people were amazing! I help people with their nutrition and healthy eating for a living and I still learned something. This is for everyone. New or seasoned to healthy living. I am so blessed to have met Anna and Kristin and the other wonderful people who make this possible. Such a great experience with great people! I love the convenience of this cooking class (up to 18 meals per week!) and the community that forms from getting together each week to create delicious meals. The food is good (and definitely good for you) and the focus is spot on for healthy living. I have lost (and maintained) over 40 pounds AND I feel so much better. My family and friends are always asking me for "samples" of my Homemade food. I cannot imagine working with a better group of people than Anna, Chloe, and the rest of the Homemade staff. I joined the class at the very beginning and have seen it evolve into something that has increasingly impressed me. I cannot get enough of Homemade and all it has to offer! read more

I was hired as the In-House Chef for Homemade Cooking last year, and in the time I have been with the company, my life has improved dramatically! Being able to teach our members how to nourish themselves and lead healthier lifestyles is the most rewarding job I have ever had. My own health has improved hugely since joining Homemade, as I am surrounded by beautiful fresh food that is nourishing and sustaining. My stress levels are way down, I am sleeping much better, and even have time and energy to work out daily. The company itself is amazing to work for: our team is made up of incredibly talented, passionate people that I am lucky to learn from. My husband and I took a cooking class at Sur La Table for my birthday. A few weeks later we signed up for a trial Homemade class. Homemade is superior on so many levels. Just comparing the classes on the instructional value and kitchen skills level puts Homemade ahead. At Homemade you get hands-on training. You get to practice cutting an onion, flipping a pancake so that you the right heat point to flip and how to gauge the correct consistency of a smoothie. I've become more competent, skilled and brave in the kitchen as a result of Homemade. However, there is so much more to Homemade than the it being just a regular cooking class. From the instructors to the mission of the program, Homemade screams positivity and empowerment. The instructors, Theresa and Alex, present information in such an open and easy way. No question is dumb and their wealth of knowledge is so vast. They clearly care about what they are doing and it shows in the community they are building and the love/deliciousness of the food. They have encouraged me to take risks and they've made me realize that burning something isn't a failure, but a learning opportunity. Homemade is a safe place to learn and I always feel refreshed and nourished (physically, but more importantly spiritually/mentally) after a 2 hour class there. Homemade is also onto something with their mission/philosophy of making whole/real food accessible and easy and how through cooking at home one can impact their health. With so many medical buildings popping up on the Peninsula it's scary to think about how society is treating the symptoms of chronic diseases but not the root causes. Homemade is actively trying to change that. For me personally, I've taken out a blender and cuisinart more in the past month than I've done in the 10 years prior to the class. I made homemade granola bars and a kale smoothie this week! Homemade is setting me up to succeed. I love Homemade. 10 more weeks for me! read more

Such a great experience. Wonderful people, good food, and so inspiring!. I thought I knew everything about food and nutrition, but I learned a LOT in this class. It is so rewarding to make and prepare your own food. You will never be able to enjoy pre-packaged, processed food again! I especially loved having all of meals planned for the week. This greatly reduces the chances of having to buy something unhealthy to eat at the last minute. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to learn how to prepare healthy meals, meet new people and learn about nutrition. And by the way, Anna, Chloe, Lindsey and Teresa are terrific and make the classes really enjoyable. read more

Since joining Homemade, I have learned techniques to cook healthier, faster and more efficiently. The class is fun, energetic and life changing. I enjoyed meeting new people in the class and trying what we cooked at the end. It made me feel accomplished and know that I can cook on my own. Michelle, the chef from my sessions with Homemade is amazing, creative and really knows how to teach about cooking. She has helped expand my cooking recipes and think outside the box when cooking. I now think about food and how to cook in a completely different way. I have also improved health wise since joining. The class has encouraged me to cook more at home as opposed to eating out. I have learned how to make some of my favorite things with healthier ingredients. The flavor of the food I cook now has increased tremendously. The entire staff at Homemade are amazing, caring and make this class fun and an unforgettable experience. I recommend this class to anyone and everyone! This is just what I needed! I already cook quite often at home but I was in need of new techniques and inspiration for my healthy dishes. I've only been to one session and it was super helpful - and fun! The Homemade staff is absolutely wonderful and they're really a great bunch. I initially attended one of their intro classes and ended up signing up for the 5 week course. Can't wait to get started :) I would definitely recommend Homemade to someone who would like to get more comfortable in the kitchen and with their ingredients (great for beginners & advanced folks too). read more

This class is changing the way my whole family eats. The women leading the hands-on class are knowledgable, fun, friendly and passionate about what they do. While some are experts in nutrition and others are experts in cooking, they all are eager to share their knowledge and genuinely want you to succeed. Before taking this class I felt like I did not have the time or the ability to create tasty, nutritious meals for my family on a regular basis. I now have shopping and food prep skills that make it possible. My favorite class so far was when I brought my teenage daughter as a guest to the class. She received a very warm welcome and is now on board with the plan to improve our diet at home. Homemade is a very worthwhile use of time even with (especially with) a busy schedule! read more

Disorganized and poorly managed. The weekly pickup meals are a joke. Hope you enjoy eating the same snack-sized "meals" three days in a row. Cooking instruction was unchallenging and uninteresting. Homemade is a wonderful organization that really can enable everyone from the most inept in the kitchen to the true gourmand to plan, cook and eat more healthfully for a fuller, more energetic life! I think part of the secret is the wonderful people-- from the co-founders to support staff to seasoned chefs who lead the classes, these people are energetic, upbeat, and really make you excited about newfound abilities in the kitchen! As someone who considered the microwave to be my primary cooking tool (which I had been quite proud to use) in the past, I have started cooking and planning for myself, and feel the difference in my everyday life-- there's a real skip in my step now! The meals are simple so easy to build into your schedule, but ingredients and techniques are well thought-out to be truly delicious and incredibly balanced and nutritious! I would recommend this organization to anyone, and will be making their food and singing their praises for years to come! read more
