My boyfriend loves coming here and has been telling me to try this place for the longest. I can honestly say that their birria tacos and their horchata is top notch. They do have a good lunch special that is $10-$13 I believe and comes with a taco, quesadilla and another item that I am not sure the name of it. It is very filling and tasty. The horchata is sweet but so so good. The restaurant is small so there are only a couple of tables. I usually take the food to go. Very disappointed with the lack of consistency across this chain. I loved their Morningside Heights location, and the Great Neck spot is decent--but this location really missed the mark. I ordered a torta, some tacos, and an agua fresca. At around $40, I was expecting much better, especially when you can get better street tacos nearby for less. To be fair, the service was solid. The girl at the counter was polite and attentive, and there's plenty of indoor seating. Unfortunately, the food just didn't deliver. The torta was drenched in sauce, and the bread was completely soggy by the time I took my first bite. It was stuffed with large, uncut wedges of tomato and onion--it felt thrown together and lazy. I had a craving for tacos so I came across this new restaurant on Seamless. I could have walked the 2 plus miles to this area where this place to pick up my order if it was on a nice day. Seamless delivery was very slow because the restaurant staff was doing the delivery. Order arrived 30-40 minutes later and I was already hungry and cranky. I don't know if the delivery method changed in the last two months, but it is highly suggested to pick up your order instead of getting it delivered. Thankfully my order was made hot and fresh because on top of waiting I did the whole wipe down process and handwashing that took an extra 15 minutes before consumption. I ordered the Combination #2 which consists of a taco, tostada and empanada. Upon ordering on Seamless, you can only choose one taco style flavor for the combination. Also, there is the other option of the tortilla type you want: flour or corn. If you want to add guacamole then it's an extra $2. I chose al pastor with corn tortilla with guacamole and pico de gallo sauce. The portion size is pretty good for $12 which is now standard. The taste is reminiscent of what I would get in the food trucks in Jackson Heights. Despite the slow delivery experience I am glad that this restaurant is a spot to go to for Mexican street food especially during these crazy times. read more

I love a good Mexican joint and am so glad this one opened up since it's other locations are much further from me. The prices are very reasonable and they also have combos. I ordered their tacos, empanadas, tostadas and the breaded chicken torta. Service was pretty quick too. My favorite was the torta. It was packed with meat, cheese, and all the goods. It also has jalapenos which was necessary for a sandwich with so much. I would've actually preferred more refried beans (for both the torta and tostada). The tostada was just alright. I think it could've had more meat but the shell was crispy and actually stayed crispy for the drive home (~15 mins). The tacos were average. The empanadas were very crispy on the outside but the meat could've used a bit more flavor and was a bit dry. I would definitely come back to fill my Mexican food cravings, especially since it's at a great price point for what you get. read more

If you're looking for a taco spot that's nearby the bellrose area, homemade taqueria is it! Overall the tacos weren't bad for the price but what really made this trip worth it was the horchata which came in a giant plastic soup container. It was a TAD sweet for me personally but I loved it (esp since it was only $4 when I went). Ordering was quick and I was able to select everything online for pickup in store. The one downside to this particular location is parking. The store is right in front of a bus lane area and there isn't a lot. So be prepared if you're picking up in person! Small business joint, on business in the area for about a year (according to female staff), good food, good service, marginal food portion (basing on what I ordered). I was driving home from work and was looking for a quick bite when I happen to pass by this spot. Did not have a problem with street parking. Got in, seems like they are renovating the place (not a problem), small space which fits about 3-4 tables (which is okay with me). Noticed that they don't have a large food signage on the food that they offer (probably because they are renovating), I took a menu from the side of their counter, opted for a Nachos. Their Nachos either come in regular (no meat), or with meat (2 meats), no option of just one meat, so I chose steak and spicy pork. I ordered it to go. The female staff was friendly, informed me that it will be ready in a few minutes, since I am the only costumer my order came in no time. I went home, opened a bottle of beer to enjoy the food that I ordered. They put enough meat in their Nachos, ample amount of cheese sauce, small amount of pico de gallo on the side, has a medium sized jalapeño on the side, but marginal amount of crispy tortilla in it. The Nachos taste good but too meaty for me, or probably I am just used to having more tortilla than the meat on my Nachos. Everything was good except for the scarce amount of tortilla that I got on my order. It's good to see new businesses in my area and this is one of them. In a word: wow Had the pleasure of being a stereotypical white boy on cinco de mayo and getting some tacos from this fabulous spot. The food here at homemade taqueria is legit and it is super tasty. Al pastor tacos were unbelievably tender and flavorful, the addition of pineapple into the fold was unexpectedly perfect, the pork was expertly cooked and melts in your mouth. Thinking it couldn't get any better than that I took my first bite of their birria tacos - boy was I wrong. These were damn near a religious experience, I could not get over the generous portions stuffed into each crispy shell and how truly delicious they were. One order of these will leave you with a truly happy belly. I think my only complaint was the way they packed the agua fresca to go. For whatever reason it was put into a soup container like you'd get from a chinese restaurant. This is honestly pretty annoying - thanks for the straw but where am I putting it without taking the lid off and having the drink sloshing around? The drink was delicious but they really need to invest in proper to go cups. They don't follow any instructions and often times their food is spoiled, the cheese in particular. All of the food tastes like it's been sitting out all day long before they package it up for you. I asked for extra sour cream and got one small container of it that came in completely liquid form, like milk. Asked for no cilantro, got a taco and tostada covered in cilantro. Now, it's within a quick ride, or Uber Eats order! Husband and I got a bunch of food to try. Tortas are amazing! They are so big and packed with flavor. If you heat up the sandwich (you will have leftovers) the cheese melts and becomes so gooey. Phenomenal. I would just order 3 of them and call it a day. Hahaha. The birria taco was dry and underwhelming. I was expecting the tacos to be soaked with the beef gravy. So not only did I not receive a call I received a nasty note written on my receipt and the audacity to serve nasty ice burg lettuce that was not fresh (the normal amt given with the nachos) not Extra. Discovered this gorgeous little restaurant in the area, I've been wanting to visit ever since I saw their store in Astoria. Have been a few times now, very reasonable prices for what you are receiving. I've ordered their birria tacos, chicken quesadillas, tortas, horchata and tried their tres leches cake too. My thoughts...... - while the food is definitely more home style and offer more traditional Mexican dishes like chilaquiles, the tacos and quesadillas are missing depth of flavour, although getting these during their lunch specials is worth it. - lunch specials in general are great value and you can opt to get horchata (specials include a drink), which was awesome! - the horchata.... Forewarning, it's the Mexican version so it's not vegan friendly, it has condensed or evaporated milk in it. To non-vegans, this makes for an awesome treat, tastes like tres leches in liquid form! :D -tres leches cake is very big for $5. Their one is very heavy and sweet so it's best shared between 2 people. - the reason for my continuous visits......the tortas! Let me tell you....I've tried their chicken, steak, mexicana and al pastor. EVERY SINGLE ONE was delicious and filling. My favourite was definitely the mexicana, I would recommend omitting the cheese since it doesn't do much flavour-wise and is a bit overwhelming. The little sauce it comes with just makes it perfect. Just ordered here for the first time on Cinco de Mayo. I was super hungry, so started eating before I remembered to take pics! We ordered the 3 Birria tacos- the flavor was very good, but personal preference is flour tortillas. There was a good amount of meat in there and the consomme was great! Ordered one beef and one cheese empanada- both were pretty standard and I would order again. The dough was nice and thin and flaky! Chips and guacamole were excellent! I love guacamole that isn't too sour and this one wasn't at all! The chips seem homemade and had a good crunch to them. The churros were really good, but the chocolate sauce they gave (and we paid extra for) spilled all over the bag . The tres leches was my least favorite item (which is sad because I LOVE a good tres leches). It was almost too light and too cinnamony. If I could give this place less than a zero, I would. I know this is long but if you're contemplating eating here MUST READ. I ordered some empanadas and tacos today and as i start to eat, I bite into a whole piece of plastic in my empanada! & when I call the establishment to tell them that I literally bit into plastic and I refuse to eat anything else because I feel sooooo sick to my stomach now. They said well if it's just one empanada eat the rest , they don't see the problem & how they're not giving a refund & if I want more food to bring in the food we have. Ummm. NO , you want to puke and you loose your appetite!!! The fact that this employee hung up the phone too mid conversation & when I call back she's still trying to justify how it's fine & how because I paid with a card so she can't give me a refund for this. Absolutely unacceptable! Now apparently I've been on hold for 20 min while she tries to contact her boss. RIDICULOUS. Never again coming here & beware because clearly if this is how the employees handle a problem when something goes wrong, like plastic in food , that should tell you how low their standards are & what their mindset on cleanliness is, as well as how they run their kitchen. Now after 20 minutes , the boss, Natalia, contacts my partner saying the best she can do is send someone with something else on the menu or if we decide to order something else later on, only give a twenty five percent off discount .
