I called them back out 9 days and explained that the part they replaced did not fix the problem. They told me it needed another repair that would cost $2600! I got smart, went to Angie's List, and found the highest rated company on there. The difference was astounding. They identified that All Phase totally screwed up and were surprised that they actually had the gall to not give me my money back. They said I did not need a new HVAC system, nor a $2600 repair. Then they went on to fix the problem (blown capacitor and expansion valve) that All Phase should have recognized right away. Stay away from All Phase. The almost cost me another $10,000!!!!

The ridge vent, which was not needed, was cut free-hand rather than striking a line to follow, consequently the opening was cut too wide in places, which meant the staples on some of the capping pieces didn't have anything but air to go into and so some didn't form to the roofline. On the bright side, when I called Palmers about this, it was immediately addressed with adhesive between the caps, but this shouldn't have been necessary, and the staples are still in nothing but air. Also, the crew removed some facia pieces and didn't replace them - I did. So, from my experience, I would say that Palmers is a good contractor but should train their crews better - just because something is out of sight doesn't mean it's not important to do a good and correct job.

We recently set out on a journey like no other as we decided to bite the preverbal bullet and get…read moreour old cedar-shake roof replaced this year before material prices rocket toward the stratosphere even further.  After researching top subcontractors, and reading the horror stories of folks getting scammed by ethically challenged folks, we ended up getting bids from numerous subcontractors and after much sticker-shock therapy we began our earnest best-value review of each proposal.  One of the things that set Columbia Roofing (CR) apart, for us at least, was the fact that Daniel took the time to describe the process that would be used, including the materials to be used and how they all worked together to protect the house.  After some back and forth on the contract language, we opted to go forward with CR and we are very glad we did.  Day one of the shake tear-down I was chatting with the help and met two brothers who are part of the CR crew.  In short order I picked up on the fact that they were amazing guys with an outstanding work ethic, and no fear.  When I asked them about the time involved in getting the job completed, they let me know that it would take some time as "it's a big roof and extremely steep."  Tear-down took only a few days and they had the new synthetic underlayment and ice barrier up there almost immediately to ensure protection against a random rainstorm.  The crew then got significantly smaller as it was either 2 or 3 guys working weekdays and Saturdays to get the job complete.  They stood on small areas of roof that made me sick just to watch them, but they were properly secured to the roof and the brothers told me that they had been doing this for almost 2-decades.  Additionally, we did ask them to help some out-of-scope manual labor (move a hot tub about 20') and they were more than willing to assist, which again simply points to the nature of these guys and the firm they work for.  For our project, Columbia Roofing was absolutely top-shelf and as such they have my endorsement and recommendation.  They did an awesome job for us!

Three years ago I spent almost $6000 on a new 2 Ton Lennox Heat Pump system for my rental property in Kennewick. Two weeks ago my tenant called me and said the unit doesn't cool, so I called Bruce Heating and Air to have them check on the cooling issue since they're the one that installed it. Their technicians showed up to my property and took few minutes before he found a blown fuse, then the misleading diagnosis started in less than 10 minutes. He said that my compressor is shorted to ground and a $1225 replacement is needed. He installed a new fuse, flipped the disconnect switch and unplugged the compressor so no one attempt to start the unit. I was also told that if I plug the compressor and close the disconnect to get the equipment running, the fuse will blow out immediately. This statement was also confirmed by his service manager, verbatim. I was a bit suspicious to the diagnosis from speaking to the technician by phone about the issue, so I called Jacob and Rhodes recommended to me by an extended family member for a second opinion, and what a difference did that make. Jacob and Rhodes technician came out and diagnosed the issue for free and he said the compressor is fine, it was the fuse that was blown out and that's it, turned it on and the unit still running 7 days later, no fuse was blown immediately like stated by Bruce Heating and Air tech/Service manager. OMG, I was going to be out $1225 for misleading and confusing diagnosis, I was even charged $107 for this poor diagnosis by their technician, which I will not pay. I will also fight for the $215 charge for their yearly service agreement that hasn't been utilized yet from 5 days ago. I will NEVER EVER call Bruce Heating and Air for anything and will avoid them at all costs due to their vague business practices. Here is the diagnosis from both vendors, I'm definitely staying away from Bruce Heating and Air and for sure signing a new yearly service agreement with Jacob and Rhodes. Here is Bruce Heating and Air diagnosis, Who I will NEVER USE AND DO NOT RECOMMEND. 3/18/2024 - met tenant on site. At arrival I found no AC due to grounded compressor blew out disconnect fuses. Contacted homeowner and quoted flat rate warranty compressor replacement unless extended labor coverage was purchased. At this time the compressor is unplugged. Here is Jacob and Rhodes diagnosis, WHO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 3/22/2024 - Second opinion. Please check compressor to see if it's shorted to ground, customer had fuse blow earlier, another company replaced fuse, left disconnect off and also left compressor plug off. Arrived on site and checked to see if compressor was shorted to ground, performed meter test and found compressor not shorted to ground. Reconnected compressor electrical plug to compressor and checked compressor windings, windings ohm out good. Dual capacitor test ok at 34.3/4.8 mfd - rated 35/5 mfd, still ok. Contactor contact points are ok. Restored power to unit and test run from room thermostat, compressor turned on and unit began cooling. Compressor amps 4.5 amps. Switched into heating mode and verified reversing valve switching. Unit is back up and running.
