My A/C problems started in the middle of May when we had those few hot days. Right away I knew my air conditioner was not blowing cold air. I called out a different company off of a recommendation of someone else. They came out and diagnosed that we did not have any refrigerant. He offered to refill it at $140/pound to get us through the summer as a band aid. I told him that I want to know why it was leaking so how do we do that and he said I could schedule a leak detection appointment that is separate from diag cost from that day. So after $300 paid to find the problem this company told me it would be $3500 to fix it. In the meantime we had quotes from 3 other companies, all wanting to install and change more items than necessary. My gut told me to call Welch to have them go diagnose it. Called Nick and even though he was busy he talked to me about what was going on and offered solutions and said when he got to his appointment book he would get me scheduled. Without fail, Nick gave me the first appointment on Monday. When he came out he was very knowledgeable and thorough, he showed and explained everything he was doing. He opened the valves to find the system full of refrigerant, he then ran a diagnostic and found the real problem. He explained everything and what the next steps were and offered to get it fixed in just 2 days. Hank and Paul showed up first thing in the morning, they were very professional and fast. They had the new system in and running right after lunch. When it comes to large purchases it is best to get more than 1 quote and opinion, I can tell you that with the knowledge, professionalism and execution that is offered by Nick in his team you can save yourself a lot of stress and frustration just by calling out Welch Heating and Air Conditioning you can trust it will be done right! I'm so glad my friends recommended Welch to us! I originally had a different company come out to look at our AC because it wasn't cooling. The first time the other company came out the guy "didn't have time to check for leaks" and the second time he came out-- 3 days later because it already wasn't cooling again, he found a big leak in the outside unit, (but wouldn't check the unit in the attic because it was after 11am). The other company said that they would get me quotes and "hopefully" they would have time next week to come replace it, but that we couldn't even turn our AC on until it gets fixed due to what he had to use to test it for leaks. When I told some friends about our AC troubles, one hopped on the phone and called Nick at Welch, (after hours on a Friday), to see if they would be able to come out sooner to replace our unit. Nick got ahold of us right away, the quote was thousands of dollars less than the other company was going to charge, and they would be willing to come out next-day (on a Saturday) to replace the AC. The guys that came to do the work were great! They got right to work and made sure that everything was working properly before they left. The first time they had us turn on the system to test, the fan wasn't coming on, but they got right to troubleshooting and got the issues resolved ASAP. They made sure that it was cooling and we were happy before they left. I'm not sure if it is typical, but they also included 1 year of preventative maintenance with our contract, (the unit had a 10-year warranty too). As the hot weather descended, my air conditioner stopped blowing air. I called several well known service providers and had to leave messages. Only two called me back and the wait time and service call prices were a bit large. I saw Welch Heating and Air on the internet and I read their Yelp reviews, which looked really good. I gave them a call. The very nice person who answered the phone set up an appointment in two days. She listened to my problem and asked appropriate questions about what was happening with my AC unit. On the appointment day, Joe showed up to my home. He quickly narrowed down the issue and had the replacement part needed in his truck. He also explained what he was doing and showed me the bad part. Within 30 minutes he had installed a new one and cold air was blowing out the vents!! The price was very reasonable and Joe was very proficient and professional. Welch originally installed the entire Heating and Ventilation system, a little over a year and a half ago. I have not had any problems. The new thermostat controller is neat and provides excellent heat and cooling control. Last Friday the condensate pump started making a load noise. I checked the filter, it seemed OK. I checked the condensate pump power, operation which seemed OK. I noticed the heat pump, condenser, fan and condensate pump stopped when I turned the thermostat up. The load noise stopped? I didn't understand why so I called Welsh on Monday and they came Tuesday and fixed the problem right away. The technician looked at the condensate pump checked the filter and showed me, by holding it up to the light; comparing a new filter and the clogged filter. . Welch Heating and Air to the rescue!! After 2 1/2 months and so much back and forth of "waiting on a shipment" to fix our AC (and not having AC) from A-one, we finally had enough of the BS. We decided to call up another company to just replace the whole thing. We heard great things about Welch Heating & Air and decided to make the call. Nick came through for us. Originally he told us he could come replace our broken unit on Monday 7/17. Then surprise surprise, he called us 30 minutes later and said those magical words "My guys can come out in about an hour." When our AC started blowing warm air, I knew it was more than a dirty filter and that I needed reliable service that would be fairly priced...and most importantly...done quickly as the house was becoming an oven. Welch's did a great job installing our HVAC system about 6 years ago and we've used their services several times since then. Most recently our heat went out last week, on a frigid Sunday night in January. The next morning Rob was there to help within 2 hours of my call, and that was even 2 hours earlier than he had estimated! We had expected the repair to cost hundreds but turns out some wires got too hot and melted, causing a burning smell, then tripped our breakers. Rob fixed it right up, checked over absolutely everything and was kind enough to explain in detail what had happened. All we paid was for an hours worth of his time. Best find for Heating/AC service !!!! Welch serviced my AC on 6/2/26. It now works better than it ever has. Welch Heating and Air was prompt, talented, efficient, friendly. My ac was working intermittently and needed serviced. I wanted to select a small local company, not a large corporate company. Luckily I selected Welch heating and air. The appointment was at 1pm Tuesday, they arrived exactly at 1pm. The technicians Rob and Chris, started working on it immediately.
