Holla Masala food pop up - Short Rib Curry and Paneer Spring Rolls
    Linda I.

Wow delicious. I've followed HOMES Campus on Instagram for a while now (@homescampus) and their rotating cast of food pop ups always sound amazing but I decided today was the day to finally go. They were hosting Holla Masala Indian street food with a stacked menu with 5 phenomenal and unique sounding dishes and gulab jamun for dessert. If anyone is reading this in real time, GO TONIGHT/TOMORROW!! Or keep your eyes peeled for the next time they host Holla Masala. We tried: (1) The Short Rib Curry - slow braised short rib curry served with serrano polenta and pickled onions. This. Was. Incredible. My favorite thing by far. The short ribs were a generous amount and so flavorful and tender. The polenta was creamy and a little cheesy? And the extra flavors with the bright pickled onions, mint, and pomegranate... this was $16 when I could easily see the same exact dish going for more than double in a nice restaurant. A real standout. (2) Butter Chicken Wings - marinated in yogurt and cumin, tossed in homemade butter chicken sauce, and served with green chili pickle cream. Another stunner! I mean how can you go wrong with butter chicken wings? Unique and fun. Absolutely delicious. Tiny kick to it for those very sensitive to spice. (3) Paneer Spring Rolls (vegetarian) - crisped and stuffed with farmers cheese, fenugreek leaves, peppers and spices, served with smoked chili crema. These were hot and so crispy, and very nicely spiced. After eating everything and washing it all down with some classic HOMES Same Same Different beer (one of my faves), we were so impressed that we had to order their Gulab Jamun to go. Took a nibble while it was hot and fresh, so yummy! They're like mini fried donuts with the perfect amount of rose water (not too much, which I feel like is easy to do with rose water) and pistachios for a nice crunch. Ok but HOMES Campus itself, aside from hosting amazing food pop ups, is a cool space. There were a lot of people with laptops there when we went around 4:30pm - it's pretty quiet and spacious and seems like a nice place to study or work remotely. They sell cans of their beer and Smooj to go, and looks like Dozer Coffee is in the same space as well. Know they also host community events. Check out their website or instagram to get the latest of what's going on here! Oh and definitely be aware that this is a totally separate location from HOMES Brewery, which is not too far away. Made that mistake once.

Nice outside area. Perfect for a warm summer day. Love their repurposing of the water crates as planters. Very laid back friendly atmosphere. Lots of beers to choose from. We tried a few of them. Metaphorm which is there Key Lime Pie Sour. You could taste the sweetness of the vanilla and cinnamon. Not too sour which was nice as I don't love the really sour beers. Reign was a smooth Triple IPA and the third was Emanate a Double IPA. Last and my favorite was the Laser Lights show, a double IPA which was dry hopped. If you haven't stopped in you should.

I get the hype. Cool vibes outside, good drinks, and rotating pop-ups, which is fun. The only suggestion would be better signage for the pop-ups, but that might be on the vendors. Can't wait to go back soon!

I did not realize this place was popular because it is in a hidden location. I heard about it from a friend who goes here pretty often as they have fun pop-ups. We went during the basil (something) pop-up which was thai inspired food. It is really close to planet rock so it is pretty fun to climb and then walk/drive over there. This campus has many fun art events, trivia night, and pop-ups. Within the campus they set out free donuts frequently which are really good! They have a wine/beer bar and cafe. I have tried both and give them both a big thumbs up. The main attraction is the nice outdoor and indoor seating. It is truly a fun time and would go here again. Dog friendly and family friendly. There are heaters outside so you won't get cold during the winter time. Check out their insta for more future events. Exciting :)

Enjoyed a stout & king cold brew (loved the hint of coffee!) Their new campus is beautiful. Great outdoor seating. Rotating food vendors. Fully stocked fridge in case you want to take some beer home. Would have loved a few more beer options, including a wheat beer. Looking forward to returning!

No matter what you're in the mood for you can find it at Homes Campus. Dozer Coffee, donuts, and breakfast foods for the AM, happy hour beverages from the brewery, and pop up dinners for a rotating variety of vendors and cuisines for the evenings. I've been here a few times to try all of the above and it's all been great! A few visits have been for Dozer Coffee, a few just to enjoy some Homes brews and Smooj hard smoothies, and a few to enjoy their pop up food vendors (highly recommend Basil Babe!). The space is wide and open, with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. On chillier evenings they have plenty of firepits to help keep you warm, too. It's also dog friendly (although our dogs are too annoying to take out much. Hah). Check their website calendar for the schedule of pop ups!

My girl and I returned after a morning -long workout. This place did not disappoint, as usual. Great sparkling rose, cappuccino, corned beef hash sammie, Gouda burrito, matcha parfaits and Smooj. The matcha parfait was a wonderful arrangement of many textures and tastes, including a touch of mint. If you haven't tried the Smooj yet, I highly encourage you to try these smoothie like cocktails, especially the passion fruit!

Sweet new space!! I'm a Homes fan but love how large their new campus is! It's York-like in the sense that it seems like a fantastic community gathering spot of good food & bev. They host almost DAILY pop ups. There's ample seating indoors and outdoors, so it makes it a prime contender for fellow remote workers. We came here on a weekday morning and enjoyed some Dozer Coffee + food: *Filbert (latte w/orange-hazelnut orgeat + a hazelnut crisp) - This seasonal latte is STELLAR. Super cool that the hazelnut crisp is like circular economy status - they use the hazelnut grounds from making the syrup! *Huevos Rancheros Burrito (seasoned black bean spread, avocado, tomato, onion, queso fresco) - Alright so my breakfast burrito frame of reference are huge delicious california breakfast burritos. This is not that. It was fine but needed more oomph. I did notice the Valentina's hot sauce AFTER the fact.. *Corned Beef Hash Hot Sammie (roasted corned beef brisket, fried egg, potato pancake, Russian dressing) - This was the STAR. Get this you must (yes in Yoda speak ha). The corned beef was such a large generous slab, but it was super tender & fall apart. Literally fall apart as half of it fell back onto the tray as I was eating it. I also ordered hella donuts because...you know me & it's all housemade! *Sugar Holes *Vanilla Bean - tasty raised donut! DJ's will still be my go-to raised donut but this is a pretty great sweet treat! *Strawberry Fields (sweet strawberry glaze w/crunchy freeze-dried strawberry bits) - there were many ways this could have been not good as I am wary about strawberry things and freeze dried strawberry but I actually loved this! I'll definitely be back for one of the food truck/pop up food events!

    Welcome

I just found out about this place. It is a great addition to the West Side of Ann Arbor. The place is seems to be two places. Dozer is the coffee shop that also has breakfast sandwiches, omelets and an amazing array of doughnuts. I had the honey glazed and my partner had one with candied grapefruit on top. Both were great. Dozer is open every day 7 to 5. The other half of the place offers drinks and beer from Homes Brewery (right next door). We were there on one of our warm (37º) Michigan winter days and sat outside at their fire troughs and had drinks. It kept one side of us warm. The big room has high ceilings with lots of fans for ventilation. Their hours are a little different: open later in the afternoon and closed Tuesday and Wednesday. It's nice they are open on Monday as most bars in Ann Arbor are closed on Mondays.

We had a Yelp event at their Dearborn location. I really wanted the iced Adeni chai that a few reviews have talked about, but they were unfortunately out. So, I got the hot Adeni chai with no sweetener. It does take a little longer as they brew it fresh. You can watch them heat and steep from the induction stove right there which is pretty cool. I was surprised by how spacious it was. There were ample tables (that I appreciated they were wiping down on a regular basis) as well as WiFi. If I need to change up scenery, I'll have to stop by here. Also they had a whole refrigerated case of goodies. I'll have to come back and get something - that Pistachio dream cheesecake was calling to me!

We went when there was a student discount (buy one get one free) so that was great, but to be honest, I probably wouldn't go if one of my drinks weren't free- the prices are crazy! But, I guess I can't complain given my normal Starbucks order is around the same cost. Drinks were tasty but the refresher was kind of bland. Again, if we're comparing to Starbucks, I probably would still choose my regular refresher there over this one. Environment was quiet, clean, and easy to study, however it was SO hot! I'm wondering if the heat was on. Not sure why that would be the case since it was the middle of September. Overall, I was a little disappointed with my experience. It did not stand out to me and was overwhelming because of the heat.

Unfortunately I missed out on the original location, but the new spot is easy enough to find and very comfortable, open, bright and sunny. It feels like walking into a family kitchen - smiling faces greet you, ask you how you are, tell you about the co-op and invite you to sit for breakfast - possibly with other patrons, since table sharing is totally normal there. The menu is small, but the selections are good ones. We had the cornmeal waffles, bread pudding (loved the crunchy top and didn't need any syrup at all), and some of today's greek specials. Everything was tasty (but not outstanding) and extremely fresh. I don't think I've ever appreciated feta so much! I also liked the basic but good quality coffee. Above all else, the atmosphere is what you go for. The buckets of freshly picked "try me" asparagus at the door, the ability to watch the chef and kitchen hands work, seeing all the volunteers collaborate, enjoying the company of other patrons - mixing, mingling, learning about Ann Arbor and making new friends. If you're into it, you'll be very into it. Note to bring cash - there are no "prices", but a $12-$15 donation is suggested, and completely reasonable.

Although Selma doesn't open until 9am, by the time we arrived at 9:08, the wait for our party of 3 was already at about 40 minutes. I'm not entirely sure if this is normal or if everyone else at school had the same idea so it was unusually busy. Once we got seated at 9:50, I ordered the strawberry bread pudding with roasted potatoes and bacon. One of my friends got huevos rancheros with chorizo sausage and the other got gluten-free waffles with fruit compote. While we really really wanted to like the place because of the concept and how much everyone else talks about this place, the food was really just very mediocre. Specifically, my bread pudding was extremely bland and runny and tasted like someone pre-chewed it...and I'm usually a huge fan of bread pudding! I ended up drowning my food in syrup to eat it but I guess people come here for the experience of community dining, not for a culinary treat. As for bacon, 1 piece was perfectly cooked and the other was too burnt to eat. So perhaps all food here is luck-based and I ended up with the super-soggy center of the bread pudding rather than better textured parts towards the edges?? Still, like I said, bucket list checked.
