Cheddar beignets - too rich to eat more than two
    Aileen B.

This review is for food only as we didn't order drinks tonight. They're 5 stars as far as beer selection goes, so if you're in the mood for a beer or two or three, you're in the right place! The seating/dining area is really nice. Seat yourself at one of many tables or booths, take a gander at the menu, then go up and order at the bar. Having enjoyed beignets in the southern part of the US, we thought trying the cheddar beignets was a good idea. While they aren't bad, they aren't beignets. Cheese balls would be more apropos. There's a lovely, delicate, crisp breading on the outside, but an unexpected soft, runny (not stringy, but like fondue) cheese inside. These cheese balls sit atop shaved parmesan and honey. I was good after one but my husband ate three because he loved them. They're very rich so I'd only order again if it was for a table of 4-5 people. For a main dish we ordered smoked lamb pizza. The chunks of lamb were far too large for a pizza. Some were so big, we took them off and separated them into several pieces and put them back on the pizza. The chef threw cilantro on top, and it laid there loosely, stems and all. At the very least, the stems need to be removed. The sesame seeds should be sprinkled more evenly so as not to make a few bites here and there super crunchy. This pizza is quite salty, but not overwhelmingly so. The crust is good. I wouldn't order this particular pizza again, but I would definitely try one with different toppings. So, overall it was a pretty good experience, and I really like the feel of the place, so I'll return.

Not our first trip to the JP but just wanted to mention we love the changes to the menu and can't wait to sample more items that caught our eye... both the food and beer! Always friendly faces and helpful staff, it tells me something that we see the same faces over time as well. See you next time.

Tonight's yelling at my kids for touching the tap handles finally culminating in putting up a sign!

Guys, you need to figure out if you are family friendly or not. We love love to come here with our kids to get a beer and pizza. The outside area is chill for this. They seemed family friendly. Well they aren't. They have a fountain (which after tonight now finally has a sign on it to not touch it) with handles that totally invites little kids to come look at it and touch the taps. We were a large group and yelled at by an older lady and a younger server who is usually nice to our family to not touch it it's a water feature. They could have easily said it in a nice way but they were so foul about it. Put. Up. A. Sign! So tonight as we left they finally had a sign. The older lady with the bob who works here yells or snaps at my kids every time they come and they are playing on any rocks outside. Seriously people put up some signs. We are happy to help our kids follow expectations if they are clearly stated I don't want my kids running wild but they weren't and still got yelled at. They constantly clear your table outside when you come with kids to try and get you to leave faster. They rolled their eyes on any kids playing in the giant walk through barrels they have outside. So don't let the laid back nature of this place fool you. They hate kids and will go out of their way to make it known they hate kids being there with sighs and eye rolling. Used to love coming here, now I'll think twice we didn't feel welcome at all and it seems portly run with no clear management.

Really welcoming service and staff was super friendly at the bar. Jolly Pumpkin specializes in sour beers, so we tried a few of the fan favs. I would definitely come back to try the pizzas and other pairings!

Not on the main drag, but a great local place for locally brewed beer and tasty eats. Worth the effort to find it and get there!

The location itself is essentially a house. The entire business is spread across the different sections of the house. It's a bit unusual when you first walk in, but you very quickly grow fond of it, due to the ties that the business has to the family that started it, in that very house. The core is exactly what you would expect, very homey type of vibes. We received an educational session at the beginning. After that, we proceeded with the chocolate making experience. It was unlike anything that I've done in the past, and it was wonderful for myself and my coworkers who were there as part of a work retreat. We had a wonderful time, seeing the process behind the scenes and walking out with our own delicious chocolate bars that we made ourselves.

There were plenty of samples throughout the presentation! You learn so much about chocolate and the process to make it. The truffle making process was fun and you get plenty of options for toppings to roll them in! I forget how many we were meant to make per person but there was enough for everyone to make quite a few extras and cute little boxes to place them in. Overall a really fun experience and Alicia was super knowledgeable, friendly, and funny throughout the whole process. They also have plenty of their chocolate for sale during and after the class. They have so many different types and flavors as well as lots of seasonal ones as well. Their chocolate is on the pricier side - but it truly is of exceptional quality and ethically made so definitely well worth it. Would definitely recommend doing one of their workshops/classes!

The cinnamon rolls are worth it, and this latest trip had me going for a yuzu lemon meringue bar, which struck the perfect balance of not too sweet, but also not a bland flavorless hellscape, which a lot of "not too sweet" dessert can fall into. Rather tempted to make the trip and get one again before they go away for the year. I will note that loaf cakes, like the apple cake and the olive oil cake, were a bit disappointing--dry, and in the former case, lacking in apples.

The place is small yet quaint. There is some outside seating as well. We tried their OG breakfast sandwich and was very impressed. The toasted sesame bun was outstanding the sausage patty is not your typical sausage patty made fresh and spiced well. The egg has what looks like scallions and spices overall a really good sandwich for $9. Their coconut Ube milk bun was outstanding really enjoyed the coconut filling in the middle. The chili crisp scone was good but would have liked to taste more of the chili crisp. My wife tried their Champaign tea which she liked but did not blow her away. That said my wife is quite the tea connoisseur so it takes a little more to impress her when it comes to tea. All n all a great little spot will definitely come back again to try more of their baked goods. According to staff their coffee is what people really come here for, along with the baked goods.
