I only wrote a review once because I was very pleased however this time I'm writing because of my dissatisfied with this company. I was supposed to have them to install windows for me. They came out to measure my windows 3 times. I gave them a deposit of 8,800 tis was in February. They never showed me any windows, I get a phone call saying my windows have been order. I explained to them I never seen any windows and that I wanted my deposit back. This was now I believe 2 weeks later. They told me I couldn't get my money back because I was to far in the contract. When thy came out the first time it was told to me that the process will be 8 weeks out. They just continue with the windows that I never seen. A 8 week project came to be 10 months. Pluse they didn't have the correct windows for one they supposed to replace, and they didn't give me a screen for one of my windows. It's now been 11 months from the day it started and I'm still waiting for my screen. I was dissatisfied with this company and the windows are not up to my standards. Our experience with Homestar was AMAZING. I'm surprised to read the bad reviews on here, we didn't have anything but a great experience working with them. Our initial meeting with the sales consultant, Alex, was great, he was kind and very knowledgeable. I didn't feel harassed or pressured at all. Alex then asked Mike, Director of Operations, come out to look at the job. He spent a lot of time going over everything with my husband and came up with a great plan to remedy some existing (potential) issues. My husband a carpenter and was very impressed with his level of knowledge, eagerness to help and great attitude from Mike. The extra time and care given to this was above what we could have asked for. On installation day, a crew of 6 men show up at 7am and begin tearing down the old roof. They were polite and respectful and worked over 12 hours to get this job done. They worked very hard all day and were meticulous in their work. From start to finish, this crew was a dream to work with. When the job was finished, I expected to find nails and debris everywhere, but even after a 13 hour day they spent a lot of time cleaning up. The ground was impeccable. Several times throughout the day, Mike and Ty (Project Manager) stopped by to check on their progress and made sure we were happy. Ty came out a couple days after to check in and see if we had any problems. I know this is a long review but there's a lot to a big project like this and we were impressed with Homestar every step of the way. First picture is before, all the rest are after. They left the old frames and seals exposed, so that we have to deal with ourselves. The windows can only open to a third.

After waiting 17 weeks (despite being told 7-10 weeks) for our new front door, two windows and three sets of shutters, the company arrived for install with no shutters, the wrong windows and a door that was smaller than promised. Since then, we could not get anyone to call us back to explain what happened, the location of the windows we actually ordered or when we'll get them. Customer service has lacked this entire process, we never received the design comps we were promised, and we are extremely disappointed and frustrated with HomeStar. To invest as much money as we have in these products and be given the wrong order--and an incomplete at that--is unacceptable! The only saving grace has been the two gentlemen who did the install, who were very professional and apologetic for the mistakes, even though they had no answers as to what happened. Only after we posted a review on Google did we finally get a call from the company. While they still could explain why we didn't get the windows we ordered, we were told they would rush order us new windows in 4 weeks. Now, 22 weeks after we signed an agreement, we got our correct windows and shutters. Unfortunately, after delays, mistakes and $19K in costs, the shutters are the best part of this job. The door and windows look and feel cheap. And while Matt, our original sales person, has been the only responsive person at the company, they had the audacity to send him to our home with a $200 gift card and ask for us to take down our prior negative review. Not exactly truthful/transparent. I bought the most expensive roof repair after meeting them at a trade show in Philadelphia where they promised "lifetime guarantee". That was in 2019. 5 years and a big storm later- the roof gets damaged. 5 days and 6 phone calls on various different Homestar voicemails later-I manage to speak to a young lady who admitted that the guarantee only applies to improper work installation and I would have to prove that the problem was by bad installation...How do I prove that? Bottom line- ask them to point out where in the contract is whatever they promise and then ask them to elaborate on what exactly you are buying. I got suckered- you don't have to. read more

We had our roof replaced by HomeStar on May 1, 2024. The roofers inadvertantly punctured our freon line of our air conditioning system, This cost us $2,158.16 to repair the system and replace the freon. The project manager admitted it was their fault and promised we would would receive a check soon. After many calls and emails, we have not heard from the owners 5 months later. After filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau, now they are saying the pipe was in the wrong place and it's not their responsibility. They sent a young inexperienced man to do the pre- install inspection. It's his job to note anything that could cause a problem. Don't trust these people to honor your warranty. read more

Hiring this company has been the biggest regret I have as a homeowner. I have left a pretty long review on Google on my experience and below is the link in case you would like to read. I have decided to add a new review on this platform since I can only leave one review on Google. To give a general history of everything prior to this. We had 6 windows installed by them in 2022. The installation and initial experience wasn't great due to missing/damaged on the install date. Missing screens after the installation was complete. One window not closing properly which soon evolved into windows leaking during rainstorms. It is actually comical if I look back and count how many incidents we have had with water leaking from the windows they installed and the amount of times they have been out here to "fix" the problem. Two windows up until now have been the main source of the water leaking incidents with multiple visits from Homestar to address the problem but surprise surprise we have another window that they installed leaking. I am beyond the point of exhaustion with this company. My only recommendation is to have Dan from customer relations handle any issues you have, and more importantly request Dale as your technician. Dan has been the only point of consistency in getting us on the schedule. So you know: I decided not to engage this contractor so I cannot speak to the quality of their work. I was actually not going to share my impressions at all but after the third or fourth follow up, I'm fed up with their high pressure tactics so here it is: The salespeople were knowledgeable and respectful but were extremely high pressure. The sales pitch was well over an hour and they had to come back a second time. Some of the comments on the condition of my current roof or quality of other contractors work were extremely over-stated to the point of being borderline dishonest. Finally, their bid was double the other estimates I received. And my regular contractor advised I wait another 3-4 years before I consider replacing it. So.. after your extended sales pitch, the follow up calls start. I've dealt with a lot of contractors but these people are seriously pushy. No means no, people... my money, my rules. I had them install my front entry doors two years ago. When the installer was leaving, I checked the door and noticed that it didn't close properly. He "told" me it was "no problem", it would settle in eventually. Well, guess what? Currently, my front door DOES NOT LOCK ENGAGE at all! Had a sales rep come to my door today in uniform. Claim he just moved onto the street (didn't pronounce the street name correctly) and was reaching out because he noticed my windows could use some updating. When I asked if he had a solicitation permit he said it was in his truck and then questioned why I was asking. Our township regularly updates us about solicitation permits, so I already knew that he did not. I called the township again to confirm in case I had missed an update. Nope-no permits. Employee lied about having a permit and likely lied about moving to the street. I spoke with him for a few minutes and shared my information; but when I did not commit to an appointment time for an estimate without as I stated I would prefer that my husband be present for a purchase of this size , Rob got very visibly agitated ,muttered curse words under his breath, refused to acknowledge me again , threw his hands up and walked away . I had a great experience from HomeStar Remodeling. When we first got our estimate, we worked with Robert B. who was very helpful, informative and not pushy. After agreeing with replacing our windows, we worked with Alexis with scheduling the replacement. She was great and accommodating. They had to come out a second day since one of the windows was damaged when they received it. Alexis was able to schedule that 2nd day on a weekend, which was so convenient for us since no one had to take a day off from work. The workers that came to replace the window were fantastic! We had windows replaced in our home. We were told by the salesman that the project would take 2-3 days to complete. Instead, it was about 18 months (months, not days). Installers arrived on many occasions without all needed materials or damaged window components. Windows were either manufactured with flaws, the wrong size, or were not carefully inspected before arriving at our home. The home office consistently blamed their installer for delays, though it was obvious that the installer was not at fault for not being provided with all needed materials. We've had many contractors in our home over the years. Nearly all did a great job with the work. Homestar was by far the worst contracting experience we've had. We lost time, income from lost work, and endured more than a year of aggravation. We ended up paying them a fraction of the originally quoted price for the work. read more

I have been attempting to secure the refund of a deposit on behalf of my elderly and disabled uncle. A door to door salesman from this company convinced him to contract over $11,000 for a new front door, when as it turns out, he only needed to spend $200 to get his locks fixed. My uncle is legally blind and did not know what he was signing. The company did not provide any services nor order any product for him what so ever, and they still refuse to return his $1697 deposit because they said he didn't cancel the transaction within 3 days. They feel that since their commissioned sales force spent time with him, they are entitled to keep his deposit for their time and effort. They plain and simple took advantage of him. I have been begging them to do the right thing and return his deposit all to no avail. They insist on a doctor's note and proof of his disability which is rather insulting as I presented them enough facts and info that clearly showed he was not able to clearly understand what he was signing when he gave them the 15% deposit on the $11,397 door. The professional way to respond when someone isn't interested in your product is to leave your info. They essentially refused to leave their info unless I made an estimate appointment. Then gave the 1-year guaranteed price or a 35% discount if I sign right now. Basically, a time-share gimmick. I resisted the pressure, and got another estimate for an equivalent product with an equivalent 50-year warranty. That estimate was approximately 50% of the "discounted price" if I sign right away. They may do fine work, I don't know. I will never know based upon these pressure tactics and high prices. read more

We were at a home remodeling convention. A sales person had a terrarium window on display so we looked at it. He asked if he could schedule a free estimate. We informed him that we only needed one window replaced, a terrarium window. He said that was fine and scheduled a visitor for an estimate at 9:30am the next Saturday. At 7:58am I received a call that went to voicemail asking to confirm the appointment. I returned the call at 8:23am and also received voicemail - I confirmed the appointment. At 9:36 no one had arrived. I called back and reached a person who informed me that they don't come out for one window. I informed the rep that the policy makes logistical sense, but that I'd had that same conversation with a rep at the convention who informed us that one window was not a problem. I asked that the rep on the phone please educate the convention representatives. Then the call went wrong. The rep on the phone said that he made multiple calls to me and hadn't heard back. The rep basically tried to place blame for Home Star missing their appointment and failing to communicate their four window minimum policy on me. I let the rep know that I was done with Home Star and would be leaving this review. I do not recommend this company as I find their presales professionalism lacking. They were very persistent and when I accused them of lying they got very offended. The company kept on calling me for 6 months to make an appt to get an estimate. It's because of this company, that I will no longer strive to be polite no matter what when someone shows up unannounced and pushes a product on you. A door to door salesman knocked on my door last December around 5/530 trying to sell a new roof. I told the guy we were thinking about a new roof eventually but definitely no time soon, as we had just bought the house a year prior and the inspector said we had about another ten years on our roof. He kept pushing for a free estimate, and I kept reminding him we weren't going to purchase, I had dinner cooking and two young kids and a newborn to tend to, plus I had guests over. He still wouldn't take no for an answer. Finally visibly annoyed I agree to set up an estimate just to get him to go away, again reiterating that we will not be purchasing a roof from them. I THOUGHT he'd leave a card or something for me to call at MY DISCRETION, but noooooo. He then puts me on the phone w some girl, which really pissed me off and again I told the girl I wasn't going to be purchasing, and again mentioned dinner on the stove and my three kids. She sounded annoyed when I said I wasn't making a purchase but kept on w her Script anyway. They want to know when my husband would be home with me. The time gets set up, and they promise to call beforehand. That day comes, no call, they don't show up. We were waiting for the call so my husband could talk to them this time. Don't hear nothing. They finally call days or weeks later I don't remember, I tell them not interested at this time. Months go by, I get a call back from them again. Not to mention the voicemails but more consistently the calls with no voicemail. I tell them AGAIN, not interested not buying a roof. So I get a call again, today and I tell the guy look I already told someone last time I'm not interested. He asked when, I told him, he asked if I'm sure, bc my roof looks so old. I cut him off and said NOT. Interested at this time thanks though. He kept going. I hung up on him. Can't block the number bc they call from different numbers Everytime.
