What an absolutely dreamy spot for a wedding…read more San Rafael Community Center proved this weekend - to be the most picturesque location for a gathering of beaming friends and family - all coming together to celebrate a special union. As an event space it is phenomenal. It has a plethora of parking out front and nearby. I loved that it was right next door to the Marin Bocce court (bringing back lovely memories). The security personnel out front were welcoming and friendly and we were able to walk right in for the festivities. Once inside - we were greeted by kind staff. As we entered the main auditorium we all let out a big gasp at the same time. The space is awe inspiring. The ceilings are tall and majestic - with beautiful wood beams and strategically placed skylights. The stage was big and perfect for the incredible band. - and the main room easily accommodated a plethora of tables - elegantly adorned with stunning flower arrangements. The best part of the venue - was that it opened up to an absolutely gorgeous patio area - complete with an historic fountain, and lined with magical trees and flowers. The whole afternoon was a dream. Everything flowed beautifully. You could tell from every aspect of this wondrous building, and the hired staff that made the event run smoothly - that a lot of love and pride has been instilled in this building. If you enjoy celebrating community spaces in an authentic way - I recommend staying up to date with the different community events happening at this remarkable spot. Be sure to also potentially keep it in mind for your own special event down the road. Trust.

The center has a very large ballroom and smaller rooms that expand to accommodate smaller functions. I've attended events in the ballroom such as the Chinese New Years event with performers using the full stage. Other events include Goldenaires bingo, armed Cross blood drives, and the Mull Valley Film festival party. Even Jared Huffman has used the ballroom for his in person events. The smaller rooms are terrific for trainings by the Women's Pilitical Action Committee and lunches or parties. There is a full kitchen and custodian on staff. It is also a good value.

6 Stars The Town of…read moreMuir Beach is a very small, unincorporated village of about 105 residences and 300 people in Marin County, California. It is situated along Highway 1 in between the cities of Mill Valley and Stinson Beach. There is an actual ocean beach named Muir Beach, in the town of Muir Beach . . . just to be clear. This community is comprised almost entirely of residences. The only two non-residence structures are the Muir Beach Community Center and The Pelican Inn and Restaurant. I was extremely fortunate to live at the very top of Seacape Drive just yards away from the world famous, Muir Beach Overlook, at the very top of the hill. The views of Mount Tamalpais, surrounding hills and valleys, and the sounds of ocean breakers outside my cottage seem as if from a dream---experiences I will cherish indefinitely. Some may know I am an author of metaphysical fantasies, and I can safely say that a chapter or two in my next novel will take place in Muir Beach. For me personally, I made meaningful friendships with my two very special housemates, in Muir Beach. This has added to the mystique and adventure of my Muir Beach experience. This is a short review, because my rating of 6 stars says it all---Muir Beach is a metaphysical fantasy. Review 0163 Feel.

I attend a different church in the Peninsula but visited with a friend who is a member as I was in…read morethe area over the weekend. Worship service is held on the second floor of Mill Valley Community Center (and not the one below, which I hear is an equally awesome but different church and service). There is ample parking. Once you enter the building, turn right to find stairs leading up to the second floor. A small but tight group of members, this seems to be a good option for those seeking the word in a more intimate, personal setting than some of the larger churches throughout the Bay area. Communion and potluck is provided on the first Sunday of each month, but there is no burden or expectation to stay once the service is over. Some come early and help set up while others join half-way through the sermon, giving the impression that you are literally welcome any time. Most attractive is that the group consists of singles, couples and married people of all ages and different backgrounds. Pastor Seth is a local, born and raised who ventured to other areas of the US for college and seems to be well-connected with the community. He is a young, married couple who will be expanding their family this October. This may be an ideal environment for others who are newly married and growing their families... as well as those seeking suggestions for local eats that are family friendly or just good all around, which he seems to be quite knowledgeable about.
