Vintage and traditional Midwest restaurant that has established since who knows when. The food is very traditional American cuisine. Sandwiches are ok, tomato soup has chunks of tomatoes in a very milky broth . Interesting taste. Their salad bar has cherry salad, pasta salad, potato salad, etc.Just a very cute vintage space. The younger staff is super friendly and easy to chat. It's a fun place to experience old school food

Wonderful owner run restaurant! Our party of three visited on a Saturday morning. We quickly found a spot in the big parking lot out front. The restaurant was crowded and our wait to be seated was about 10 minutes. The interior of this western style restaurant was full of character with wooden walls and articles such as windows from North Dakota. The vibe was comfortable and social. The menu contained a good variety of homestyle cooked foods. We chose an egg white omelette with toast, oatmeal, the salad bar, and the eggs, hash brown and bacon platter. Since it was crowded, the food took a little longer than expected to make it to the table but since we were busy conversing, it wasn't a problem. The food was tasty and of decent portion. The multi-user, single gender restrooms were clean and spacious. Service was very friendly and helpful. The owner was very personable.

Decided to try Homsteader's based on the "good" reviews on Trip Advisor. Mistake. The restaurant itself is old, out dated and dirty. The server was nice, but less than enthusiastic to see that customers were satisfied. The Husband ordered the Boneless Ribeye. It was pitiful! I posted pics check them out. After all the talk on Trip Advisor about the "good home cooking" style food I decided to try the Chicken Fried Steak and Mashed Potatoes. The Chicken Fried Steak was REALLY greasy and the Mashed Potatoes tasted like boiled mashed potatoes (no seasoning, no butter, no milk) just plain boiled and mashed. It was so bad I sent the plate back and just had the salad. The salad bar was small but did have fresh veggies and a pretty good pasta salad. My son ordered the Fried Fish and fries meal, he said it was pretty good. Again, food pics are posted. Check them out. Sent food back, not satisfied. Won't go back.

The Denver Skillet not in a skillet.

November 27, 2011 Sunday - breakfast 10:15 AM 7 adults and a small child Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 3 stars Service - 4 stars Background - The big family Sunday breakfast outing. Atmosphere - Rustic restaurant on the lines of Cracker Barrel but not so cheesy. Food Appetizer - None with breakfast. Main Course - The Denver Skillet was not served in a skillet. The cheese was barely melted on the top and it was in long strips, not shredded. The hash browns were lightly done and still greasy on the bottom of the dish covered in the rest of the food. Dessert - None needed after stealing food off other plates. Service - It is always hard dealing with a large group. When you are serving coffee you and my face is buried in the menu you do not need to slide the creamers in between my face and the menu to place in on the table. Ask me; get my attention to move so you can get it on the table. I was not even drinking coffee. They did split the check, and our waitress asked us if she needed to do that. Future - Maybe for dinner

We headed to the restaurant and got seated immediately. My husband and I ordered drinks, which for me included a dirty martini with extra olives. The drink was tasty and the extra olives were very welcome. The appetizers were very tasty. Although it was the first time I had bruschetta and the bruschetta was not on the bread when we got it or finely chopped. I must say though it has very good flavor. The poutine fries were a delight and seasoned well! The dinners were a bit of a let down for all of us. My son ordered his burger medium rare and it came well done. My habanero honey chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The chicken was dry and the honey habanero sauce had no "wow" flavor. I would say the atmosphere of the restaurant itself was nice. We might come back for an appetizer and drink but, we will not be ordering dinner. For the price compared to quality, it just was not worth it, sad to say.

After walking in I was greeted and asked where I wanted to sit, we eventually decided a table. For one?!?!yeah sure. After finding out whose section i was sitting in, I placed my order and within 10 minutes my food was on my table! Hot and delicious as it turns out. The ribs were tender, perfectly seasoned, juicy and smoked to perfection! I did not need sauce but tried a few of them Anyway. LOL! The bbq baked beans were also perfectly done, tender, full of flavor, savory with a little bit of heat and three types of beans which worked somehow. Now the biggest surprise to me was the potato salad, which 95% of restaurants get terrible wrong. This one was an 8 out of 10! So my service was great, the food was great, it was fast, hot and delicious. My one negative is that it's located in North Dakota!!!!!!! Also the place was full of families with kids but the ambiance was still chill enough to take a date. 10 out of 10!
