Picked a friend up from the tire shop across the street. They told her that the car would ready by 10a, it was about 930a... time for something close to chat while waiting. To Kroll's we went. I'd never been in before 6pm, it's not much different in the morning vs evening, since it's a diner. I did find a part of the menu I'd never looked at before... (my standard order is soup & a shake but 9am meeeh) I ordered apple kuchen (there were probably a dozen options). It was warmed & really good. The custard was creamy and not overly sweet. The other gal had a caramel roll, also warmed & pretty big. For a total of $10, I'd say ot was 30min well spent. It's true diner style, with some German items clearly marked & explained. Servers here are either racist or just plain rude. Had our first negative experience in the whole city of Minot in this resteraunt. Walked in and the heavy set blonde waitress looked at us and didn't even greet or acknowledge us. Same with the elderly dark haired woman. My husband finally had to ask if we could sit down after they turned their backs to us twice. She took our order and we were courteous but they seemed mad they had to serve us. We're an interracial family and I def don't think the locals were treated with the same disdain. Skip this place if you're diverse. The bad service was not worth it. Fun fifty's dinner feel with a friendly staff. I saw that they advertised German food, and yes they have a few items but it's very basic and nothing I would go back for. The famous soup tasted basically like canned cream of chicken with dumplings, nice on a cold day for sure and filling but nothing special. My salad was also very simple with very strong onion. Cute local restaurant. It's a Germany cuisine in an American style restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly and familiar with their menu. The food was fair. I had veggie on hash brown. Cute place. Kroll Diner looks like what you'd imagine a diner to be. We went when it wasn't busy. The place seems clean. There were plenty of booths and tables. Reminders of Americana past adorn the walls. The place was a visual feast of color and knick knacks. Average food. There's plenty to choose from the menu. I ordered knoephla soup, a riff on chicken noodle soup, and a grilled chicken salad, which consisted of iceberg lettuce sprinkled with julienned carrots and a whole lot of shredded cheese. The sparse cubes of chicken didn't seem grilled but were there because they had to be. Nobody wore a mask. No distancing as another customer came in and took the booth adjoining ours. Service was courteous. Kroll Diner was conveniently located next to our hotel so we stopped in for brunch before heading out. Sure - I'd come here again if I was staying nearby. Minot,ND, has a diner and I like it Molly said Eggs on her omelet were a little wet but it was eaten anyway. Steak and eggs were great and the crispy bacon I ordered was perfect! Wheat and sourdough toast very tasty. Hash browns were cooked amazingly well. Coffee so good. Staff was nice and attentive. Bathrooms clean too. All the food we saw brought out to other tables looked great. Place was busy and we know why! Waitress was kind to my girls and they engaged in polite banter. Got here at 12:28 and placed a to-go order for 1 chicken wrap with fries. While I was paying, I felt like I was being stared like a hawk as they were waiting for me to press the tip button. When I couldn't find a "no tip" button, she told me I could press "other", to where I was forced to pretty much tip. We then were asked to sit down at the little bar area they have. We sat next to an elderly couple. While their food was coming out, the older waitress seemed to be in a rush or something because she almost dropped 3 plates of food and stopped it from falling by placing her HAND on the food. So much for it being sanitary. I waited 35 minutes before I went up to the checkout counter to ask for a refund. Upon asking for one, the lady helping me with the refund asks another employee to help her with the transaction to where they ask "why?". The lady helping us told her that the food is taking too long and then the 2nd lady said, "Look, it's coming out right now," to then the lady who's helping us then turns to us, "Is that okay?". We proceed to sit back down for another 5 minutes. Then we finally get our food. Why did it take 40-45 minutes for 1 chicken wrap with fries? And why does it seem like they didn't wanna give us a refund for the ridiculous wait time for just ONE food item? Throughout the entire time we were here, people were seated, ate, and left before us. The food is good but if you don't want the servers touching your food with their bare hands or if you don't want to wait a long time for food, I suggest to go somewhere else to enjoy your food. read more

The one star reviews are hating mfs that were scared to tell management about their issues bc if they did they would have been resolved. Instead they're on here crying just to cry. Tried out Kroll's for the first time today and I will definitely be back. Although they're understaffed, Kroll's continues to have fast service and friendly waitresses. Our waitress was very kind and upbeat, as was the general feel of the restaurant. It was refreshing to have food that actually came out HOT - not just warm. The prices are very good. My boyfriend got the patty melt for just over $6.00 with the lunch special. I would definitely recommend checking Kroll's out! read more

There isn't much on the menu that is bad! The knoephla soup is to die for, their omelettes are "wet your pants good!!!" and the sandwiches and shakes and pies... are delicious! I just had to say our server was super nice. And I really liked the granny there, looking at her makes me think of my granny and she's just full of smiles. Ok on to the food, for their prices, the deriving a were really good. I went there at around 8am and only finished half and had to take the rest home. I just ate the left overs and I still couldn't finish my food. I had their omelette and had them substitute my American cheese for Swiss and I love cheese so I was happy to see that there was also cheese on top of the omelette. My husband and I also shared a milk shake since they give you the extra in their tin cups. Honestly I want more of their milkshakes just thinking about it right now.
