First of all I have Zero expectations because it's North Dakota and I am from way down south where bbq is damn near a religion, so it is taken seriously. After walking in I was greeted and asked where I wanted to sit, we eventually decided a table. For one?!?!yeah sure. After finding out whose section i was sitting in, I placed my order and within 10 minutes my food was on my table! Hot and delicious as it turns out. The ribs were tender, perfectly seasoned, juicy and smoked to perfection! I did not need sauce but tried a few of them Anyway. LOL! The bbq baked beans were also perfectly done, tender, full of flavor, savory with a little bit of heat and three types of beans which worked somehow. Now the biggest surprise to me was the potato salad, which 95% of restaurants get terrible wrong. This one was an 8 out of 10! So my service was great, the food was great, it was fast, hot and delicious. My one negative is that it's located in North Dakota!!!!!!! We received very little food for the price here. Over $75 spent for 3 adults, and we all left still hungry. And we are not big people, big eaters by any means. The brisket we were served was mostly fat. Very little meat. Their hot BBQ sauce was tasty! The brisket plates were $21 each, we expected a decent sized portion. What we received were children sized portions. Their Mac & cheese and broccoli were both really good! Also, their okra. We had signed up for their Rewards Program prior to visiting. However, upon check out we did not receive the promo we were supposed to receive, nor did we receive credit for the $75 we spent on our visit. Charging customers a high premium like this, you would expect the rewards program promos and credit to be a bit more seamless and functional. Lastly, we were overcharged on our bill. So do be mindful of this if you visit. Would probably not consider going back here. Can definitely get more food for your $ some place else. read more

Ordered to-go because there was no outside seating (contrary to the Yelp listing) and we had our pup. Also fairly confusing as to how to get inside since the restaurant, which sits on a main street, doesn't open to the main street. Food came fairly quickly, but extra sauce ($.99) had been left out so I had to go back. Pork steak and baked beans were very good, cole slaw and roll were fairly institutional, so kind of a draw on the food. Can't speak to ambiance since we had to take it to go. read more

I miss the old location. Not a huge fan of the parking - or lack of. The food seems to be consistent which is nice, it's just pricey for what you get. Service has never been good which is why we probably won't go back, but I'd consider ordering to-go. The only sit-down BBQ place in town. I do love it's on the north side. read more

Really wanted to give this spot a good review. So I'm back for a second try. The atmosphere is great, staff is friendly. This time just stuck to the pulled pork, and again I was disappointed. It's ok just not something I would come back for, it was really dry and needed sauce. For sides, the beans were good, but the mac and cheese was Terrible, under cooked pasta with thin cheese sauce, not what I would have ever expected from a professional bbq joint. read more

Have eaten there before and it was great. Today ordered pulled pork plate with fries, beans, and a roll. Pork had a lot of burnt black fat on it and was overdone. Fries were numerous small crumbs and the roll was stale and hard. The table had not been cleaned well either old butter cup and debris by sauce containers. Told waitress . She apologized saying they had been real busy during lunch crowd. No manager was told???? Wife had salad which was good and beans were good. Ordered online for pickup and then waited an extra 15 min to receive my order. When I got home our smoked wings felt as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp, the "1/4 chicken" did not resemble the fourth of a chicken and the grilled chicken looked like croutons, were dry and barely any there. First off the service sucked! No front receptionist. I had to go find her. She was in the dining area in a booth playing on her phone. I ordered a 2 meat plate: brisket and sausage and took it to go. $31 completely wasted. The brisket was fatty and dry and the sausage was just blah! The bbq sauce was disgusting . Since I was in Minot last they moved locations. The new venue gives more room for seating and the dining experience is very easy as you walk up to order, are assigned a table or booth then food is delivered to you. The barbecue selections are complete with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage and etc. most recently I had the pulled pork sandwich with macaroni salad side. The pork was tender and perfectly smoked. The bun was toasted. At each table are four homespun sauces. I dropped a few bits of the hot barbecue sauce on my sandwich then added a bit more of the regular barbecue sauce with each bite. Delicious! The macaroni salad wasn't special but neither was it off. On par I'd say with many restaurant mac salads. At the end of the day, I would recommend giving it a try when in Minot. It's not your typical northern plains meal. read more

On a trip here from out of town and decided to give this place and try because I love BBQ. The first impressions were good it wasn't packed and the server was nice and helpful, then we ordered and sat down and we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food and it was us and one other family, which is understandable but just kinda frustrating when you're hungry. I got the brisket sandwich and it was pretty underwhelming, most of the pieces were dry and required me to drown the sandwich in sauce. The sauce options were nice with a spicy bbq and mustard sauce really carrying this sandwich. I wish there was music playing over the restaurant or something to help it not feel so boring in there while we waited for our food. Overall this will be 3 stars based off this visit. The food was good but because I will be out of town after tomorrow I will not be returning. read more

We love Bones BBQ when in the restaurant. It was kid-friendly and the service was excellent. We've gotten take out twice and it's been a little disappointing each time because of missing items both times. We have been meaning to make it in for some time now & finally did today. There were 2 menu items of the 6 we tried that really stood out above the others. As a Texas gal, I feel I'm as much of an expert on beef brisket as any So-Cal is on Mexican cuisine. As such, I must say... dang! I don't know what magic they are using here, but the brisket was fork tender and unbelievably juicy! Now, I've had a lot of brisket in my life, A LOT... and this would easily rival any that I've had. This was served as a combo with pulled pork, which was good, tho next to the brisket, nah. I'd like to see a mustard sauce out, just for the sake of having one. Next, the baked beans were our #2 must have... using multiple types of beans in a thick, tangy sauce was pure bbq brilliance. I would have been happy just eating these, if I hadn't known about the amazing brisket, that is. We also had mac n cheese (good), coleslaw (good) and corn muffins (great) - major props for offering butter AND honey with the muffins! This is the only genuine BBQ place in town that is not a franchise establishment. The bartender/waiter, Gary, was extremely courteous and informative. He took time to explain not only menu but the business as well. The restaurant was clean and virtually new. It contains a bar and a main dinning room with plenty of seating for groups of friends, kids, etc. The food was amazing! I've been to a fair number of BBQ restaurants and my main complaint is the portion size. It never fails that the majority of them load the plate with the sides and skimp our on the meat, especially if it's brisket. Not this place! I can honestly say that the side portion equals the meat portion satisfactorily. These guys know what they're doing. Give this place a try; you will definitely leave satisfied. read more
