I would give this place negative stars if I could as well. When this place was Kaiser Federal Bank it was okay, but then it just got awful. It was taken over by Homestreet and it's been a disaster. Opened a savings there back in March ...still no debit card and it's two months later. I've requested it three times. And that's only the first mess up. The list goes on. It's the worst bank I've ever had to deal with -- no exaggeration. When Homestreet took over from Simplicity, they lowered my daily ATM withdrawal limit from $1,000 to $500 without explanation or warning -- a delightful discovery when I was getting ready to go out of state and needed a cash withdrawal on a Sunday. I just tried to re-order checks (the link is extremely hard to find on the main Homestreet web page) only to discover that the check ordering page is useless for actually ordering checks. Speaking of their God-awful web page, it takes about three clicks to find essential branch info such as "hours of operation." Oh, and when I was in Oregon, the one branch near me was only for mortgage lending. Homestreet's latest stroke of genius is that as of March 1, 2016, customers have to wait an extra business day to access funds after a deposit -- even if it is an electronic DIRECT deposit. Way to be useless, you stupid bank. I'm moving my money elsewhere. Enough already. read more

I wish I could give this bank and it's employees NEGATIVE stars. This is the WORST bank I have ever done business with. This bank bought Simplicity Bank, so unfortunately my account was moved here. Ever since they've taken over my account, I have not had 1 good experience. From not being notified of the change, to not being able to find my account at the branch, to LONG hold times of 30 minutes or longer, being transferred 5 times ONLY to find out that the customer service reps have NO IDEA what you are talking about. I've been promised by several employees to get a call back and no one ever returns phone calls. 1 employee assured me she would send me an email on my issue never received it. THIS IS THE WORST BANK EVER!!! I made a payment on a loan and the payment does not reflect in my account. When I called to find out what was happening, I had to talk to 5 different people who all sounded clueless on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about, put me on hold for a total of 2 hours throughout the morning and STILL could not figure out where my payment went!!! How's that for a bank??! If they are trying to make Simplicity customers happy they are failing miserably. As soon as my issue is resolved, I am taking my money, closing my account and NEVER doing business with this bank again. I was looking for a new place to bank since my bank is charging fees left and right. I found HomeStreet Bank online and I called the Pasadena Branch and spoke with Kris. He answered all my questions and he encouraged me to start a relationship with them. I ended up getting a checking account for myself and a savings account for my daughter. I also referred my husband to open a checking account since they are giving $50.00 for each referral. The thing that I love with HomeStreet Bank is that their employees are really helpful and very professional. Kris went the extra mile to set up my online and mobile banking. I came to the Pasadena Branch to open a checking account since my wife banks here. I ask for Kris since he helped my wife set the account up. I am really impressed with his professionalism and his knowledge in banking. He is very detailed with his presentation and you can feel that he really strives to give a great service. Their staff is awesome as well. They even offered me coffee and some snacks. After 2 months of using their services I can say that everything is working out great for me. In addition to having a free checking account, I love the fact that I can go to any ATM to take out cash and they refund me the fees at the end of the month. I belonged to the Kaiser Credit Union from 1992, then it morphed into Kaiser Federal Bank, then changed its name to Simplicity Bank, now Homestreet Bank has bought it out. I am so irritated. When it was Kaiser, everyone knew your name from the moment you walked through the door, smiled and greeted you personally. Linda Hunter was the Branch Manager and when she moved to corporate, the branch took a massive turn for the worst. Yet, they still remembered details about your family, your life and your concerns. Now, you're lucky if anyone even raises their head if you walk through the door, let alone greet you and forget knowing your name. When I voiced my disappointment in their changes and customer service (if you can call it that!) the response from a bank official was, "I've never seen you come in before." No smile. No response to my confirmation that I come in every two weeks to make a deposit. Then, I called to see about a personal loan to get my car repaired. I was told they were busy and it would be later in the day. Never happened. Meanwhile I called my insurance company and was approved for a low interest loan within less than 15 minutes. I never bothered calling Homestreet back. Now, I've been trying all weekend to pay bills on my online bill pay and the site never loads, then I get the message that my session has timed out. Really? At first, I thought it was my internet connection, but discovered that I got a very fast connection when I was Googling and going to their Home Page... So, my conclusion is that I will be researching other banks and move my accounts elsewhere. This is an awful bank! read more

Every time I come to this branch Monica greets me by my first name and she usually already knows what I'm there for. I love how HomeStreet bank is not like the big banks which are just all about the business. HomeStreet offers better accounts (free), better services (like waiving ATM fees), better rates (savings); and even rewards you for being a good customer (through promotions). Manager Moe Cook was my original go to person when I had a issue with a check that hadn't cleared after about a month and the supermarket that I had written the check to would not accept any checks that I attempted to write for groceries. She was able to get to the bottom of the issue and resolved it so I could once again present checks to the supermarket. When I found out that the supermarket added a $5.00 charge for the check not clearing originally (it wasn't even my fault that it didn't clear the first time. Somewhere along the route from the store to their account, the check was torn and the routing # and account # was unreadable), Moe put $5.00 into my account. I thought that was a great gesture; not that $5.00 would make or break me, it was the principal of the matter and the fact that she went the extra mile to right a wrong. Since that time, I have found all of the Homestreet Bank Pasadena Branch's personnel to exceptionally helpful and I plan on being a customer for a long, long time. read more
