Renard's is that good!! I was greeted by a lovely woman and young man (perhaps mother and son?), and I had the first pick of what they had made for the day. Two monkey breads, two fruit-filled pastries, a loaf of sourdough bread and a coffee completed my order. It was all fresh and delicious. Princeton is a small town with a lot of cute shops and wonderful places to visit, and Renard's is one of their jewels. My daughter and I were visiting Columbus today for the first time and spent almost five hours at…read morethe huge antique mall (awesome)! We wanted to grab a quick, but non-fast food, lunch before heading back out of town and stopped in at Julie's Java House at 12:40 pm--we checked their website as we were leaving the mall, and debated about just skipping lunch, knowing the staff were going to be closing up at 1 pm. We figured they might be cranky or annoyed with us, being anxious to clean up and close up--BUT, we were very cheerfully welcomed as soon as we walked in to place our order for grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches were served fresh and hot off the grill/panini press, were generously filled with cheese and tomato slices, and the sides of chips and pickle slices were the perfect way to round out our meals! Not only were the food and service great, the cafe was super cute and very clean! Their location is right next to the Columbus Amtrak Station, so if you happen to be there when a train goes past, the place to sit is right inside the front door at the little "bar" with the stools. We were too late for the morning trains and too early for the ~2:00 one...maybe next time. :-) The owners clearly take pride in their establishment and seem to really want to give back to the people and causes that matter most to them, as evidenced by the various photos of family and friends, and certificates of recognition, displayed throughout. They also offer plenty of seating, a large parking lot, and items for sale in small-ish quantities, like homemade honeys, teas, ornaments, wooden trains, jewelry, stickers, and coasters. We feel like we discovered a gem of a restaurant to cap off our truly fun and enjoyable first (but not last!) visit to Columbus!
