WARNING! Stay away from this place. Do NOT rent these carts. Just don't. The owner is a thief! He is rude and totally inappropriate. His rental equipment is faulty. He STOLE $500!!!! The Salty Dolphin bills itself as a tiki bar but it's not at all. It's dive bar just across the street from the beach. The interior is small and older and the exterior has patio seating. The owner, David Anar, appears to be unhinged. He yells at his staff and customers. I was just there and a couple came in to get a refund for a golf cart they rented that did not work and had been returned the day before. David Anar the owner began yelling and cursing at the couple to get off of his f*^#}^ property numerous times. The couple, who did not yell or curse said they would leave as soon as he gave them the $519 refund for a golf cart that did not work and that had been returned. The owner called the police. When the police arrived the couple calmly explained the situation while the owner, David Anar continued yelling at the police and the couple. At one point he said to the lady "you look smart but you are not. You are very dumb." Then he told the husband "don't be scared of her, you should have some balls." Then he pointed to his private parts and said "We are the men, we have the balls not the women." From what I understand, the police could only tell the couple they had to leave the Salty Dolphin but they couldn't force the owner, David Anar, to give them their refund. I've never witnessed anything like this and can't believe the owner could get away with being belligerent and keeping their money. I sure hope they sue him! We left shortly after the incident and won't be going back. The owner is a bully and apparently gets away with it. read more

My wife rented a golf cart from David Anar at the Salty Dolphin for 3 days. The first day the cart wouldn't go in reverse so she took it back. The next cart they gave her didn't work either so she and two of our kids waited at the Salty Dolphin for a while until they got it working. My wife drove the kids to the beach when she noticed the gas gauge flashing red on empty. Since she didn't think she could make all the way to the gas station to get gas she decided to return the cart. The owner's daughter, Claudia refunded the $100 deposit but said her dad, David Anar, would have to make the $519 rest of the rental since it was a high amount. She wrote my wife a receipt saying they will refund the money. My wife had the cart for about three hours (45 min was spent waiting for repairs to be made) when it was returned. Today, my wife and I went to the Salty Dolphin to get the refund when the owner, David Anar, started yelling and cursing at us. He yelled that he wouldn't give us a refund because he didn't have to. He yelled to get off his property and called the police. Mind you, we were calm, never yelled or cursed at him. Unfortunately the police said they could only enforce making us leave the property but they could not enforce him to give us the $519 he owes us. They told us to file a civil claim to get the money back. I guess we'll have to do that since $519 is a lot of money to us. Save yourself the headache and DONT RENT FROM SALTY DOLPHIN. The owner David Anar is crazy and steals money from people while he tries to bully you and gets away with it. read more

They rent golf carts here. 3 hours was $120 or 24 for $150. Plus $100 deposit. We decide to do 24 hours at 10:15 am this morning. We drove it down to the beach then ending up taking a break because it was tough to drive. I'm 5'3" and had to sit on the edge of the seat and had to put a lot of pressure on the gas to go. The most frustrating part though was at times it wouldn't go and was squealing a bunch. Then I would be driving and it would jerk like it was loosing power. We took a break for a while then tried again but I ended up returning it at 2pm. They did ask if I wanted another one but I was unwilling to keep trying at that point. (See the pictures of the torta sandwich- circa 2022, and 2024-obvious difference.) The sandwich and peanuts were 100% not the same recipe as 2 years ago, and honestly didn't even seem cooked. We drove by this place off the beach a few nights in a row and it was cold out so looked very slow. Knew that we had to stop at least once to check it out and I am so happy we did. The bartender made the experience so fun! It's a very small tiki bar with $2 Jello and pickle shots and a variety of booze. Found out they have food options and they do hot dogs in a pizza over. We just ate before, but would've been fun to try. This was within walking distance from the beach and next to a bunch of the condos/hotels near Whitecap Beach. There is a small restroom that is outside on left side of building. If you need a golf cart, they rent those also. We're in town for our honeymoon and we thought we'd stop for some late night eats and a couple drinks before we go back to our Airbnb at first the dive bar was cool small atmosphere, but the bartender was absolutely rude, having and puffing complaining about, not being tipped after every drink, even though we had an open tab I told her that we're still drinking and eating, and that she would receive a tip at the end of the night when we leave and she continue to argue with me about it. Never in my life have I came across the situation like that, aside from the bad service the pretzel My Husband got was burnt and they gave me a tortilla chips with the Mexican corn I got I'm not sure what the tortilla chips were there for but the corn was dry anyways zero out of 10 would not recommend head over to the slip,the service is great. I dont even know the owner so why would I buy him an $18.25 shot? These hot heads threatened to call the police and treated us like we were trash...even the owner was yelling at us. Me and my family recently went on a family trip and rented a golf cart that they over charged us for as well as took our deposit when a tire popped, they said it was our fault. In the beginning, we asked for a 6 seater but none were working so they gave us a 4 seater and over charged us for only one vehicle they were also being rude about it not to mention they also stated that they been having issues with the carts because they are older. This is only for the cart rental. I do not have a complaint for the restaurant. The guy doing the rental said "the tire are a little worn but it's getting new ones tomorrow" which didn't help me at all considering I rented it today for 24 hrs. We went ahead and took it considering we'd already charged our card. So we headed down the beach. The steering was pretty suspect and had a hard time driving on the streets. The alignment was out undoubtedly. The beach wasn't too hard on the steering but the cart stalled out on us for about a minute. Finally got it going and decided to take it back. It stalled out again mid drive down the road. The girl inside couldn't give me much information on even a partial refund except the "owner would be here at 6 and I'll have him call" I haven't received a call. Turns out they play Bingo every Wednesday and it's free to play with great prizes!! The owner doesn't spare any expense when it comes to the prizes. Great hospitality. Disgusting behavior from the owner when we had to deal with a golf cart malfunction. I would give them zero stars if possible. After less than five minutes of using the golf cart it stopped working for us. They then lied about sending help to assist us with the cart that was stranded on the beach so we had to walk a mile to find help after waiting a full hour for them to show up because they said they were coming to help. The owner is misogynistic and will try to find the fault in any woman involved instead of taking fault for his equipment and incompetence. Prayers to anyone who is willing to deal with that. We walked in at 10:04 am and were told it was not open and that a lady was cleaning up. So we sat outside for four more minutes. Another lady walked in, ready to work. We asked her what time she had. She stopped, looked at her watch, and said 10:05 am. We smiled and said okay. I wasn't sure if there was a different time out here. My husband and I discovered this gem of a tiki bar while staying at a nearby hotel. This quaint space gives all the welcoming and local vibes. There's indoor and outdoor seating and several tvs. Behind the bar, Steven provided great service, the drinks were delicious and we were impressed with the beer tap selections. We enjoyed The Salty Dolphin so much, we went back after dinner for a nightcap and Kristy was very attentive and friendly.
