Hilton Honors Diamond Member: Hilton is my go to choice for hotels when traveling. The Homewood Suites offer all of the comforts of home. The staff is friendly and accommodating with requests. The suite was spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of comfortable seating for relaxing or working. The kitchenette made meals and snacks easy with ample amenities. The bathroom had a separate sink in the main bedroom and a separate shower/toilet area. The water pressure was perfect. The beds were typical Hilton quality. I still loathe the quality of the pillows, but that's a me problem for sure! Daily breakfast in the lobby offered a good variety of options for a solid start to the day. My only observation is that they definitely need more than one waffle maker at a hotel this size. My only other observation was the lack of designated Diamond member parking. I had a great stay at the Homewood Suites in Bloomington, Indiana. The complimentary breakfast is always a nice start to the day, and I really appreciate their Wednesday evening social with a light dinner or snack, dessert, and two complimentary drinks per person. It was such a thoughtful extra and made the stay feel more special. The staff was consistently friendly and welcoming. They were always willing to help, and it was reassuring to know that if you forgot something, they often had complimentary items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other essentials available. What impressed me most was how kind and helpful they were during a heavy snowstorm. When it snowed really badly, the staff helped me shovel my car out and clear the parking space I had been using that week. That level of care really stood out and made me feel genuinely looked after. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bloomington. It is comfortable, welcoming, and run by people who truly care about their guests. read more

The bed was comfortable and desk and kitchen were useful. The breakfast options were excellent, especially the fresh fruit and hot items. Also good coffee! I would stay here again. I have stayed at this location several times for business. The location is within a few minutes of various restaurants and the rooms always look and smell clean. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. I stopped in today without a reservation and luckily they had 1 room left. Trina was at the front desk and helped secure the room for me before it got lost online. She was extremely helpful with a friendly smile. It's folks like her that make staying here more comfortable. read more

the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was extensive and the dishes and glasses were NOT paper, which is a nice change. However, we had planned on swimming and using the hot tub and after one look at the pool, we could not even try it! The water was filthy and there was actual green slime on the steps of the pool. the hot tub was not working and truthfully, the entire pool area had not been attended to for weeks, as far as we could tell. I was very disappointed and, though the hotel was great, I couldn't believe how neglected the pool area was. read more

Stayed at this Hilton hotel for a week on a quick work trip. The staff was all very nice, and their amenities seemed to be available despite the Covid situation we're all facing now. The county currently has a mask mandate in place, which is good. I didn't see it fully enforced from the staff, which sucks (but it's an understandable hassle to have to police each and every visitor... I get it). Overall, I have two issues that impacted my rating: 1) The breakfast... although it's available for guests (which isn't always an option thanks to Covid) it was terrible. I've had breakfast at all sorts of different hotels (Hiltons included), and this was by far one of the worst. They provide salsa and other condiments.. but no matter what you use to mask the flavors, it doesn't work. The breakfast is just bad. This was the one time I actually craved the usual boring scrambled eggs that most hotels provide (made from egg power and water). Yeah, it was that bad. 2) My room window happened to be located near the area where most people would go outside to smoke. I'm pretty sure the intake to my air unit was pulling the cigarette smoke from outside smokers into my room. So from the moment I walked in, I could smell cigarettes. It wasn't a super strong smell, but you could definitely smell them. So I called down to the front desk to report it- just to cover my bases so they wouldn't assume that I was smoking in the room. They should make the designated smoking area across the parking lot. But whatever. So between the breakfast, and poor designated smoking area choice- I can only give them 3 stars. I will be back to IN again, but don't see myself or coworkers selecting this hotel to host us. read more

Really closer to four and a half stars than to five, but I'm being generous in how I break the tie today. Several good things going for this. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a lot more variety than the typical chain hotel breakfast -- ours even had tasty chicken carnitas and potato pancakes, which made me happy. The rooms themselves are clean and well laid out. The two-bedroom suite was just ideal for us; the kitchen area was very convenient and it was a lot less expensive than having to get two rooms to lodge our family, which we often have to do at hotels that lack such suites. The bathrooms are divided into parts so that one person can use the shower room while the other is using the sink. Little things like that make a difference. The hotel was also quiet and well-maintained. If I had one minor complaint it was that the bed was quite soft, which meant that I felt every slight movement and vibration emanating from my spouse. My sleep was a little fitful as a result. But other than that, have only good things to say about this hotel. read more

When Gayle and I come to Bloomington to visit her Son and family, this is where we stay. It's about 10 minutes from their house and provides an opportunity for the darling Grand Girls to use the pool, while changing in our Suite. I say Suite because under the King 1 Bedroom option, there's the bedroom, a separate living room (with a door in-between) and a nice kitchen area. And since, I wake up earlier, I can retreat to the living room and let Gayle sleep. It's a great setup and a very spacious and comfortable room. Besides the pool, downstairs features a nice common area, a computer alcove, a decent free breakfast, evening happy hours during the week, and of course decent strong coffee in the morning. The price (especially the long weekend rate) is also right. read more

We were once on a getaway and we landed on Homewood Suites. Front desk, very nice gave us cookies and water! Plus very nice. The background, wow it looks like my house! Pool, hours stretching very far. Plus spa. Breakfast, Breakfast is nice a lot of hot breakfast options. Elevator, I am terrified of Elevators. This one, wow! Room, maybe pizza air freshener? I don't know?? But! No bedbugs :( Shower good, TV meh, $20 for my kids to watch movies? I don't know? Room part 2. It really seems like home, but I need more outlets. If I could rate it would be... 4.3 stars out of 5. But I am feeling nice so. read more

This hotel is nasty. My husband and I have been here for a little while because of work and OMGGGG housekeeping doesn't clean like they should and they hardly have any hot water. We have to run the water in the tub to get the water in the kitchen luke warm. It's okay, it functions, but it's not great. Overall, this is below the Hilton-family standard. Nothing was glaringly wrong, but everything was worn, from the wallpaper going down the halls to the carpet in the rooms. The decor is out-dated, and it makes the whole place feel a bit old and dusty, even if it was not. To be clear, our beds and bathroom were clean. The breakfast was good, but staffed by one young person who was working like crazy, but struggling to keep up (e.g., you can't run out of eggs at breakfast!). I know it's a college town, and therefore the hotels all have a captive audience, and everything is two-steps more expensive. But I stay at Homewood Suites all over the country (as well as other brands), so trust me when I say this one is a bit worn. read more

Very nice hotel. Everything was clean and in great condition. Our suite was a good size, perfect for our party of four. The amenities were good. We did not interact with the staff much, but they seem polite. The pool was clean, warm, and decently spacious. The complimentary breakfast was tasty. There was a nice selection of eggs, hash browns, bagels, waffles, toast, oatmeal bar, etc. Coffee was good as well. read more

The best way to describe the rooms would be 'stellar.' At the rate I'm paying (just shy of $100 per night), the amenities included with the room have been better than other hotels I've had - including the nicer Marriotts at $250/night (luckily, it wasn't on my bill...). A living room, a bedroom w/ an upgraded bathroom (from what you normally see), and a kitchen w/ stove and a full fridge/freezer. I've never really frequented through the Hilton chain before - mostly sticking to Marriott Courtyards when I travel for business - but at a comparable (or with discount, cheaper) price, there isn't much comparison. Nice little extra here - breakfast and dinner are free Monday through Thursday (leave a tip though!). For me, when I'm traveling alone I don't really care to go out to restaurants - the food they serve is basic, but it is quite edible (sure you'll get better food in a restaurant, but that adds up fast). Wine (merlot and chardonnay) and beer (Budweiser Light) were both included - I haven't seen that before. Gym is included, for after dinner. I've honestly got no complaints thus far. The room is easily spacious enough for a family to spend a few nights without getting at each others throats. And you know, that's always a plus. If I am coming back here for work (and chances are, I will be), I'm definitely going to stay here again. read more

Out of sheer exhaustion we had to stop and sleep somewhere. Ended up at the Homewood Suites. Check-in was fast and friendly. Since we checked in about 2am we got a late check out so we were able to get plenty of sleep. Nice and spacious hotel as all Homewoods are. Comparable to other Homewoods I have stayed in. Worth the money! Comfy places to lounge, plenty of place to store things and the amenities of home: stove, kitchen table, full refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Hotel was nicely decorated with reds and neutrals. I am someone with severe allergies and did not have one issue staying here. Dust free and delightful! Loved the vanity. Wish the closet doors had full mirrors like other Homewoods I have stayed in, but I will definitely be staying here again if needed! read more

We had such a great stay at Homewood Suites. The room was very spacious and clean when we got there. We stayed Wednesday to Friday, so we were able to have the free breakfast and dinner. Both were delicious! The meals were different each day as well. We loved the coffee, tea and hot chocolate at all hours. Our daughter had such a great time in the pool. The pool was clean and the perfect size. Every single staff member we had any type of encounter with was so nice and cheerful! We will be staying here again when in the area. As a gold member, I spend many nights in Hilton hotels throughout the year so I can honestly say that the room was not on par for cleanliness.. on top of that, the hotel manager Stephanie Harris was outright rude when speaking to my wife. Shephanie, most likely, skipped the "How to Treat Customers - 101" in college. And if she didn't then I assume she attended a college such as Purdue. (Remember I am an IU fan in Bloomington when reading this). Anyway, I would never stay here again if she is still the manager. I would rather spend an extra $100 and feel welcomed. ***In response to Stephanie Harris on 4/5*** You are correct; my wife did use profanity when describing your attitude as "not giving a sh#t" and we apologize if you were insulted. And the threat of never staying at this particular hotel is no longer a threat but a fact. However as discussed, we were in the car during our conversation and Indiana state law prohibits email while driving. Therefore, we drove the extra two hours and are currently residing in room 115 in your establishment. Furthermore, we were extremely surprised to learn you had a higher up that could remedy our situation as you told us we had to call corporate customer care to get any help; which we did. Their response was that you had ultimate dictation of hotel management. We certainly appreciate your remedy but it wasn't helpful with out a phone call. I travel months out of the year and get phone calls regarding hotel reservations regularly. Traveling with an infant is hard enough but this has made it much more taxing. Decent hotel. Clean. Friendly staff. Very close by is a grocery store, so eating in the provided suite with kitchen, stove, etc. is not difficult. If not, they do provide breakfast and dinner (dinner only mon-thurs). Salty!!! Breakfast has the usual cereal, toast, oatmeal, if you're trying to watch your blood pressure. Gym only has a treadmill and elliptical. Pool is very small. Far from downtown, so definitely not walking distance. Walls are thin at times. Could hear someone snoring at some point. read more

True to it's rating, this is an OK place to stay. Wet stayed here 2 nights and our room was cleaned, but we're did not get refills or replacements of the amenities we used like the shampoo, conditioner and soap- very unusual and disappointing. Expensive for what it is and where it is located. Walls are very thin, you can definitely hear the rooms next to you and above. Rooms facing the highway are really noisy, so if you stay here, ask for the opposite side. Parking is easy and there's a simple breakfast. read more

Beautiful hotel conveniently located off the highway (37/69). Clean and well kept. The rooms are nice and spacious - good for me since I like to throw my stuff everywhere. The staff was very nice. Walls are a bit thin but that's ok. Only con was the food that served at breakfast and dinner was somewhat salty at times (maybe someone new in the kitchen). Actually things weren't too bad when we checked in. Everything looked nice, good facilities, seemed clean. Seemed clean, that is, until I'd been laying in bed for about 30 minutes and was prepareing to turn off the light. Thats when I saw 3 reddish-brown specks on the comforter. Yup...bedbugs. We had a large group using two rooms and the rest of the hotel was full so at 1:30am we all had to pack up and leave. To make things worse, the manager on duty refused to refund the other room because he thought we all should have just stayed in there. We stayed at the Homewood Suites Bloomington for two nights for Parents Weekend at Indiana University. We try to stay at Hilton properties whenever possible. Overall, this Homewood Suites is not as service-oriented or comfortable as the Hilton Garden Inn that we usually stay at downtown. The breakfast is mediocre at best (the eggs were very dry, breakfast on Sunday is only served until 10:00 a.m. not 11:00 a.m. at most other hotels). Although we are diamond members with Hilton Honors, the front desk refused to give us complimentary bottled water whcih other Hilton properties always provide for us. They just said, "you have to buy it yourself." The rooms were nice, in general, although they were on the small side and certainly not worth the $500+/night rate. When my wife called the manager to inform him of a billing error (a movie that we were charged for) and to express her dissatisfaction with the water issue and our overall stay, the manager told her, "it's okay, this isn't my hotel anyway," which is not an appropriate or a professional response to any guest. We will avoid staying at this hotel in the future, if we can help it. We love Hilton hotels, overall, but Homewood Suites, in particular, has not met our expectations. read more
