Our project manager, Fernando, is fantastic. He first helped us navigate insurance itself, noting that they do not do water mitigation and insurance would first need to send someone to deal with the damage before he could give us an estimate for repairs. It's an explanation so logical you'd think the insurance company could have approached it that way from the start but alas, they're not really in the business of being helpful. So, after repairing the water damage and treating mold, our work with Ward-Tek began and, especially having spent months in the interim dealing with a different construction company for the initial work, Fernando and team were a godsend. The process of quoting the work was fast and transparent. The work was permitted and scheduled quickly and started on time and every deadline was met or exceeded which, given our experiences with other contractors, seems unheard of. Between Fernando and the lead contractor, Javier, we felt like we had a dream team and everyone who came through to complete the work understood that they were entering our home and respected what that meant for us as we juggled the construction with working from home and having two small children. It felt like they paid a lot of sensitivity to that and I can't overstate how important that was. And the work itself was meticulous. We made some design updates along the way and we're so thrilled that what started as a storm-related disaster ended in our house looking better than ever. We have so many projects to go on this old fixer upper and I genuinely don't want anyone but Ward-Tek to do that work. I trust them immensely after our experience and highly recommend them. The Servpro working for the HOA of the Mara villa Homes is dragging their feet on this.So I guess Seabreeze, is not helping me with getting it fixed. So screw the rest of them, maybe time to lawyer up and kick their but. but George is a good guy. He said he'd work on it right now, even though Seabreeze is dragging their feet.

Well, these geniuses they hired and were responsible for broke my downstairs window rendering it inoperable, and refused to fix the issue for almost a year now. To add to it, their subcontractor has continued to send me an invoice for the removal for months and refuse to correct the issue. I found him to be manipulative and unprofessional and, in my opinion, took advantage of my difficult personal circumstances. In Dec 2017, just weeks after losing my mom and sister and months after moving into my beautiful new home, I discovered a water leak that caused significant damage to my kitchen and multiple rooms. I initiated a claim with my insurance company, and began gathering quotes from three separate contractors -- one of whom was Darryl Huie. His initial demeanor was overly eager and persistent. Despite not being awarded the project, he repeatedly inserted himself into the process, including contacting my insurance adjuster without my consent, showing up to my property unannounced, and calling, emailing, and texting me constantly. I was grieving, overwhelmed, and traveling frequently for work and trying to get my family affairs in order, so I allowed limited access to my home strictly for estimation purposes. Not for any actual work. Darryl claimed that even if I didn't move forward with certain repairs, I was still obligated to pay him the entire labor amount my insurance company had awarded, even for work he wasn't doing. He warned me that I could be reported for insurance fraud if I didn't hand over all the funds to a licensed contractor (i.e., him). In my opinion, he used my inexperience with the insurance process to pressure and intimidate me, which I now see as taking advantage of my vulnerable situation. When I declined to move forward, he entered my home without permission while I was traveling and removed the granite countertop, then claimed it broke due to a "preexisting condition" which would have to be filed under a second claim. He later attempted to manipulate the situation by suggesting he could help get it covered under the initial claim if I gave him the job. I considered this a serious ethical violation and reported it to my insurer. When I returned home, I found my road bike missing from the garage and the broken granite left behind. I then received a $1,200 invoice for "services" for removal of the granite countertop, which I never approved. He eventually sued me in small claims court, falsely asserting we had a verbal agreement. Fortunately, I documented everything, and the judge dismissed the case. Years later, he resurfaced and sent me a disturbing message through Facebook filled with personal attacks, prompting me to finally share this experience. At the time, I didn't have the energy to speak up. I do now. After writing an honest review on Yelp, a man claiming to be his "friend, who happens to be a lawyer," began calling me at work, emailing my personal and work emails. I consider this behavior to be harassing, and I want no further contact. If you are considering working with this contractor, I strongly urge you to proceed with caution. This review is based entirely on my personal experience and supported by court records, insurance documentation, and extensive written communication.

PROS: 1) Mitigation was phenomenal. The pack out team was…read moreextremely efficient and professional and paid extra care to our belongings. 2) Demo was fine, however they broke a few things (cabinet riser, damage to walls that weren't there before) and did not address it to the restoration team = lack of good communication between teams 3) Customer service was great and friendly via text and over the phone CONS: 1) DO NOT USE THEM FOR RESTORATION!!! We really wanted to hire another professional restoration company that only does restoration/painting etc but ServPro assured us they had a great, qualified and highly experienced team and we trusted them (I mean the rest of the work was excellent, so why wouldn't we trust them?). However, that was clearly not the case for our home. One "painter" even started painting the walls the incorrect color when I stopped him halfway through to get it corrected. The finishes, especially in our bathroom were really bad. So bad that we regretted hiring them for that part of the job. The bathroom looked rushed (as I believe it was the last part) and they ended the painting that day and quickly got out of there. So they had cut a baseboard the wrong length and used putty to "complete the look". That was absolutely unacceptable!! They left paint splatter all over our cabinet and - well lots of little issues here and there. The trim was replaced incorrectly and there was a gap. There was also a huge gap between the baseboard and the tiles with no grout. We were so unhappy with the project manager, Luis, signing off on the "complete project" and he acted as though nothing was wrong when he came back or didn't seem to see the imperfections all over the bathroom. After discussing our disappointment with Tabi the owner (who is very friendly and understanding), we decided to part ways. Tabi did give us a nice allowance off our original estimate and we used that $ to hire a true handyman / carpenter professional who fixed what Servpro ruined. I would recommend ServPro GG MITIGATION but only stick with the mitigation work. They also got paint dust over a few of our belongings that we later realized.

And when I asked him to go over a couple small spaces (that had started out pretty dirty!) he was happy to do so! I enjoyed hiring a fellow Chapman alumn and I think it's very cool that he will be offering a laundry service as well.
