Thank you Yelpers. I just lost my job and I needed service on my Honda on the cheap. Goudy Honda was going to charge me $360 for the 30K service. I called Stanley and he quoted $230 so I scheduled an appointment. Stanley is very honest. I have a K&N filter and just replaced my cabin filter so he knocked down the price and he showed my rear brake pads were pretty worn and I had about 1000 miles left before they start to squeal. Since he had the tires off, I went with the brake job as well. Bottom line- I got out of the at $240 bucks -tune up and brake job. Everything seems to be running fine. I highly recommend this one man shop. Also, he's got wifi so I could hook up my laptop and continue my job search. read more

The thing I usually hate about getting my car serviced is having to explain to my husband how the mechanic talked me into an expensive service that I didn't really need. Stanley is the kind of mechanic who will quote a fair price, and say things like, "We should keep an eye on this, but it doesn't have to be replaced right away." As someone who knows very little about cars, parts, and what things should cost, I feel really good knowing that when I come here I won't be taken advantage of. My husband appreciates this also. First impressions are the best impressions. I just called to get a quote to change the battery for my 2007 CRV and the girl said $130. I asked her the brand name and she said Interstate. Just as I was going to hang up, she said that I could get my battery at Costco and return the old battery there. I asked how much they would charge for labor and she said $20. I will say the service was fast but I was quoted one price and then charged almost $100 more. When I questioned the price, I was told the original quote was $50 more than it actually was. Everything you read about this place is TRUE!!! It's hard to think of anything different to say when everybody writes the same thing. Stanley is very honest and it's easy to see, he's not a mechanic for the money. He simply loves to help you and your car feel better. He will not perform any work that doesn't need to be done. He's constantly looking for other ways to save you money so you don't end up paying for services that weren't needed. When he tells you your car will be ready at a certain time, be ready to pay less and have it finished sooner than you were told. I will be taking my Integra here for as long as I have it. read more

Stanley is great, knowledgeable, and has excellent prices but not when it comes to performance cars. I didn't have a good experience here but many people have. Many of my parts were lost here costing me hundreds during an engine teardown. Spark plug wires, ignition coil bracket, power steering bracket, just to name a few. Really sucks. Though he is experienced, he makes quick calls that sometimes aren't necessarily correct. I went here when my car stopped working cause I knew he wouldn't steal my money, but he told me off the bat that I had a bad engine when the real problem for the car not starting was a ripped CKP sensor. This misdiagnosis costed me thousands when I tried to remedy the problem via an engine swap as he suggested. read more

Stanley is a true pro in the unfortunately oft-untrustworthy world of auto repair. For a couple of years I had taken my Honda back into where I purchased it (Miller Honda) for work, until I had to have some brake pad work done and they gouged me for a couple hundred dollars more than one would reasonably expect to pay for brake pad work. I think in the end for a couple of new brake pads and other minor "whatever" kinda work it ended up being over $700. To compare, I recently had almost the exact same time of work done at Honcura and it cost me a little over $200. He even threw in the oil change for only $5. The thing about smaller auto repair shops is that the best ones are run by honorable, decent guys who are good at what they do and realize that it's simply not in their best interest or perhaps in their moral fiber to be unfair to customers. Stanley is eminently fair and friendly and you won't walk away like you do even at a place like Jiffy Lube, where even if you leave having had only an oil change, you have that creepy, shuddering sense that some dudes just tried to lie to your face and take your hard-earned cash straight out of your pocket. Not here. He'll be honest and even if the repairs are expensive, they're still going to be less expensive than pretty much anywhere else. Oh and just FYI: I think one reason I went to Miller Honda for the repairs was that there's that whole notion that the place that sells you the car, being part of the group that made the car, will therefore know what's best for the car with regards to needed maintenance, the schedule, and so on and so forth. However, Stanley knows the proper maintenance schedule for these cars, presumably having studied them for some time. And I'm sure other mechanics who specialize in a specific make of car are the same way. So don't buy into that notion, especially with regards to this place. If you own a Honda or an Acura and live near here (or even if you don't; I have friends who trek across town from Santa Monica to visit Honcura), you should take it here. read more

I have a Camry. I know the name is Honcura but the reviews were just so good I had to try it! Took my '06 Camry in, felt as though something was up with the brakes. Left it there, he called back saying that everything looks great - just tightened the brake pedal and I could pick it up the next day no problem! They are just the sweetest, respectful and honest. Stanley is a top notch mechanic and honest service provider. He'll identify your Honda or Acura's problem quickly, find you the cheapest part he can, and then charge you a very reasonable rate for the work. I have come to him for 2 more service trips after my initial review and his service, attitude and workmanship has been consistent every time. The temperature control on my 2003 Accord stopped working, and he spotted the problem (a bad resistor, I think) and had the part replaced for me within 2 hours. The part was $50 and I walked out for $110 total after labor. My temperature control is back up and running without a glitch, right in time for summer. I'm afraid to even ask a Honda dealership what the cost would've been, but a good guess is twice what I paid. Honestly I don't even bother calling dealerships because I know Honcura will save me 40-50% easily with a guarantee of honest, good work. I also had my 90k maintenance done here and after bringing some of my own fluids, the damage was only $115. Stanley will make sure you're only getting what's necessary and he never tries to up sell. Even though I live in West LA, the certainty of a fair price and good work makes the trip to Glendale well worth it. read more

Had the worst experience today!! Had setup an appointment and had agreed to a price. When I arrived at 8 am, Stan acted as though he was unaware that I would be coming. Then after looking at the schedule, and seeing my name and the work I needed on my car, immediately informed me that I would have to pay $250 more than what I had agreed to with Kendall. Although I live in LA, I drove to Glendale to visit Stan since he was the only individual who quoted me a reasonable price and time frame in which my vehicle would be ready. He kept his word with respect to the price as he didn't try to upsell anything. He also kept his word as far as the 2 hours he would need to finish the work. At first glance, I was a bit concerned because of the location and visual condition of the shop. I've taken my car to the dealership many a times, but with this tough economic period, I can't afford to be spending the exuberant dealership maintenance service fees, especially since my car is an '05. Had my vehicle been a 2009-2011 model, I would see the need to ensure that the Honda Certified technicians at the dealership work on my car. Stanley is the man! My 88 Honda recently started doing something weird, the brake lights wouldn't turn off, even when my car was off. It drained my battery and I had to jump start it anytime I wanted to drive it. Among other quotes, one place told me that it was $75 to get it looked at, and then that would go to the cost of fixing it. However, it could be any number of things, so I would probably have to leave it for 2 days. I called Honcura and Stanely interrupted me before I could even finish my problem. He told me that Hondas had a special brake button, it would take him 2 minutes to fix and it would cost me $10. I pulled up 3 hours later, he knew why I was there as soon as he saw my car. He stopped his work, popped in a new button, and 30 seconds later I was giving him a ten dollar bill with no paperwork hassle involved. Stanley, I love you! I always take my 2002 Acura to Honcura for service. Stan and his staff do quality work and an excellent job keeping my car in shape for much less cost than a dealership. Plus, you don't have to listen to the dealership sales pitch for extra services. My Acura runs great and you wouldn't think the car is over 10 years old. Found this place off yelp and dammmmmmn. fast and efficient service. I came in around 12 noon and requested for oil change, oil filter change, and tire rotation for my 2015 SI. I have been going to Honcura for years and I have never been disappointed in the care and attention that Stan and his crew give to me and my Civic. I found him on Yelp and the reviews are accurate - Stan is friendly, professional and efficient in his work, trustworthy, and the cost is never outrageous. I also appreciate that he has never ever tried to upsell me on anything. In fact, I've had little issues here and there with my Civic and he has fixed them without charging me anything, i.e. the electrical motor on my driver's side view mirror was not working and Stan fixed it - no charge. After a year of taking my car to various repair shops trying to find the cause for the check engine light, Stanley found it right away and was able to repair it with no problem. I'm from out of state and was super nervous about where to take my car for a tune up after I drop across country. When someone local recommended Honcura to me and then I saw its positive Yelp reviews, I felt I should give it a try. Stanley was very nice and honest. I asked him to check my brakes for me which sometimes can be a blank check for mechanics, but he told me they were fine and not in need of any work now, but maybe by the end of the year. He said my 15-year-old car was in good shape and didn't need much. He changed my oil and refilled my fluids for $25. All in all, I'm very satisfied. read more

Stan has been taking care of my car for a couple of years now. He is awesome with awesome sauce! My Camry is 12 years old with 102K miles on it. (No, for reals! I lie not about this. Or anything else. Unless you ask me to, with that wounded look in your eyes.) Anyway, although my car is in relatively good shape, she occasionally needs a little love, and Stan gives her that love quickly for not a ton of dough. Stan seems like an honest man so I hate to give him less than 5 stars but my experience here was not that great. I brought him my wife's car that appeared to have a battery or alternator issue. he opened the hood, looked in for 1min and said I had a defective battery and that I should return it. he charged me 10 for this advice. well it turned out the battery was fine and just need some of the crud cleaned off of it. months later, i brought him my own car with a check engine light issue. he told me it would cost 900 to fix. it seemed high so I got a second opinion and found out you can make the same replacement for less than 1/3 of the cost he quoted if you use aftermarket parts and not original honda parts. Stan did say that aftermarket parts are available but that he doesn't trust them. given the almost 600 dollar difference that he forgot too mention makes this seem shady, especially because the part is not essential to how my car drives. I originally found this place on yelp (shout out to yelp!) years ago and can't recommend it enough. It's a small and completely un-fancy repair shop but they never try to oversell you, have very reasonable prices and have super nice guys (shout out to Stanley!). I've had terrible experiences with dealerships where they scare you into getting unnecessary service done or just blatantly lie to misrepresent what's covered in a warranty. My wife and I have had our cars serviced by Honcura for several years now. While the company's name indicates that they focus on Honda and Acura cars, they service other vehicles such as Lexus. I have literally saved thousands of dollars by having Stan repair my Lexus instead of the dealer. He always does a fantastic job, whether it is routine maintenance (e.g., oil change, brake pads) or more complicated work (e.g., change radiator, wheel bearings). He is honest, fairly priced and completes the job on time. I would not think of going to another mechanic. read more

Been a Honda & Acura owner since the '90s. At first I would do my own routine maintenance. Now that these great vehicles have become more sophisticated, I have decided that the maintenance is better left to the professionals. I don't mind having the dealer perform service, but I've had one too many negative visits (way passed promised time with no apology or explanation, not to mention excessive cost). I've been a long time customer of a non-dealer Honda only service for close to 10 years now. They have been good to us, and although prices are quite fair, they tend to be very busy, and they aren't close enough. Bought a new Honda last year, so I decided to give the dealer another shot to win my service business. Within six months, they blew it on a routine oil change. I researched the Yelp reviews, and decided to try Honcura today. Stanley greeted me as soon as I drove up. I was very happy with the price and how quickly they completed a scheduled synthetic oil change on my 2012 Crosstour. I can't remember the last time I had an oil change completed in 30 minutes!
