TRIED TO SCAM ME I recently purchased an R129 and brought it to High-Tech Automotive for a standard inspection. Only issue was a vibration at highway speeds. They presented me with an almost $4,000 estimate -- not including the required alignment that their recommended steering/suspension overhaul would have triggered -- and claimed several issues that simply weren't remotely real. One of their recommended repairs had already been completed recently. Another, which they described as "oil spewing everywhere," was later inspected by a second shop, who showed me in plain view that there was no leak, no seepage, and no mechanical issue whatsoever. To verify everything, I took the car to a trusted independent Mercedes specialist that my friend has used for years. The new assessment could not have been clearer: the repair list from High-Tech Automotive was unfounded, exaggerated, and appeared to be an attempt to take advantage of a customer they assumed wouldn't verify the work. Based on my experience, the estimate was misleading, inflated, and not supported by any legitimate diagnosis. Stay FAR away from this shop UPDATE: was just a bent rim, $150 repair. They will over charge you for work that is immediately needed and tell you work needs to be done that does not need to be done. They told a friend she needed new brakes and that did not seem right. Beware of these scammers! If you take your car here, PLEASE get a second opinion before letting them do work on it. The battery died on my car, I had triple A jump the battery... It then died again, shortly after driving it. So i took it to the one place that was open. High-Tech looked at it a few days later, Called me, and said my Alternator and Battery needed to be replaced, along with my axel, AND rattled off a few other items. And Quoted me $1850 for all of it. I told him Id have to think about it due not having the financial means, and then he suggested a company that offered good loans with no interest. I finally decided to pick it up, and bring it to Montri Auto, a place I usually go to. She looks at my car and calls me a few hour later, and says "Theres nothing wrong, the battery just needs to be fully recharged." This was shocking to learn. I truly thought this place was being genuine, especially when the guy mentioned me applying for a loan! Its very disappointing in this day and age. This place clearly doesnt need more business or my money. The lot is filled with vintage Porsches, for christs sakes. read more

Hutch seemed really nice. I trusted his opinion. Until I got a second opinion. He told me that I needed new brakes. he even gave me a written estimate to fix them. After I got a diagnostic done at another shop, it turns out the brakes were at 100% in the back and 80% in the front. When the second shop printed out the report I could not believe it. So I asked them to triple check, and they did. They told me that I was being ripped off . The reason I got a second opinion in the first place is because I knew he overcharged me initially and wanted to make sure all the other things he suggested were accurate. Wow. read more

Brought my car in for a cooling problem. They said the new radiator had holes in it. They were right! They said I needed four new tires. My tires are Toyo, seven months old with about 1000 miles on them (pandemic). Said I needed an oil change. I changed the oil two months ago with the same mileage. They Said I needed a new carburetor (classic car), I went to another shop and the carburetor is fine. Just needs adjustments and a filter. They were right about needing some new gaskets. What a way to come to place that is very knowledgeable and professional. My mom was having so many issues with her Jetta OMG HOW DIFFICULT TO FINE SOMEONE THAT Specialist on this vehicles. If they specialists they would charge you over the top just open the motor or transmission because they vehicles are not that vehicle easy to fine something like other car. my fuel pump went down and i got towed here. when i picked up my car they said it died cause i was out of gas. i assured them i had half a tank when it came in. they refused to listen to me assuring me it was out of gas. I went and filled up my tank and then noticed something...odd (read absolutely horridying) They didnt connect my gas line so i very well could have died. they also used zip ties to connect my abs lines after replacing my struts which they also didnt do properly. so if youre looking to die i highly recommend otherwise steer clear while your steering still works. read more

I am a longtime customer and it's incredibly disheartening when a repair shop you once had confidence in has changed to the point that you can no longer trust them. That's the case with Hi-Tech. These guys used to be great but for whatever reason, they are not what they used to be. Today, your car sits on the street while Koko and his staff string you along with stories that they are working on it, or the mechanic called in sick, or they're really busy. Their repairs are no longer reliable - you have to keep bringing it back to be fixed and they overcharge for the work they do. It's a shame. I've known Koko forever and given him tons of work but I would NEVER return as a customer. There are plenty of decent repair shops who deserve the business. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Brought my classic car in a year ago for a bunch of work. Since then I've been back twice because the parts have been unreliable. To their credit: Yes they were under warranty and they fixed them without complaint. With that said: I don't think I'll bring my vehicle back here again, I don't trust them and I don't understand how some the parts have failed on a car driven less than 1000 miles within a year. Just because the parts are under warranty doesn't mean that I want to keep bringing it back. I don't trust the parts they're using and I don't trust that they're doing the work well. They're booked and busy which is great for them, but it actually means that they have less time for you on a personal level and your cars wait time is wayyy longer. My advice is to find someone else. read more

They threw in a car wash for me, too. I mentioned I was going on a road trip, so they applied a 'road trip check up' for free - which I really appreciated. I feel like they treat their customers right, so we keep coming back. That's why they're always so busy. Nothing like my experience at dealerships, where they just take money from you and don't worry about if you come back or not. There's a sense of honesty and trust when communicating with them. As catalytic converters continue to get stolen in our area, my husband had decided to have a cage cover put on his car before it could happen. Well, after a few years, they recently attempted to steal it. We assumed they couldn't get it in the usual few seconds because of the cover since the thieves left us with dragging metal brackets. But thankfully, the converter was not damaged. The people at Hi-Tech are fantastic!! Not only did they take my husbands car in immediately without an appointment, but upgraded his converter cover to the newer version. They did his original cover as well. The converters are a very expensive part to replace and criminals don't have time to mess with a deterrent such as this. I highly recommend Hi-Tech for their great catalytic converter cover product, honesty,ability,pricing, compassion,& fast friendly service, as well as quick turn around times. Called before lunch to see if they had availability today, or if tomorrow would be better since today was the day after a holiday. They said no problem they had plenty of availability today, to bring it on in. Asked me what specific car I had and I got a price quote. They are recommended to me by a friend. Checked another recommended service place and Hi-Tech was a few dollars less so I went with them. While Chris was not rude when I got there, definitely not the customer service I was expecting based on the other reviews. I confirmed then with him, while giving him the keys to my car, what the price for the oil change would be. Had to wait 3 hours for my car to be done. They called me and told me I needed an engine air filter and cabin filter and I declined their replacement. When I got there Chris told me I really needed a new air filter and cabin filter and it was very important. Since I am going on 1,000 mile road trip in a couple days I decided to go ahead and replace the engine air filter ($24). After saying yes I looked up the requirements and air filters should be changed at a minimum of 30,000 miles. Mine only had 5000 miles on it. I feel like not only was I pressured to put a new one in, but that it probably didn't need to be changed. When I went to pay the price went up $10.50 because I needed more oil then they "thought" I would. When I asked why the extra $10.50 charge the 3 employees were defensive, arrogant and seemed offended that I would ask. They said they couldn't tell how much oil my car would need when they quoted the cost (although I told them what kind of car I had and it would be very easy to know). Overall I feel that they were dishonest on their price quoting & availability to do the work, and pressured me to pay for something I most likely didn't need. read more

I brought my Mercedes Benz to Hutch/Koko because it was driving a little off. $4500 & 3 weeks later my car was returned in worse condition. The Mercedes Benz dealership informed me they misdiagnosed my car and put in the incorrect transmission fluid which most likely led to the worsening of my car's condition. Two stars because I can't prove they disabled my trunk. I thought they were experts on electrical issues. I took it in because my trunk lights would turn off after the lid was fully open and I got a warning that my license plate light was out. It was working. After about 6 hours they called and said the wiring harness needs to be replaced for $280.  They also said the engine mounts need to be replaced.  I declined  and  the price went to $200.  He said the wires might short out and destroy the computer.  I picked up the car and drove home and the trunk would not open electronically.  I went back and the trunk was opened using the little key in the ignition.  He pointed to the hinge and said the wiring inside has to be replaced.  He offered to do it for $145.
