I've been trying for days to reach this location and no one answers the phone, and when I can reach a mail box I'm informed that they are all full. They mention a directory but you cannot access it. Honda Manhattan saves the day. Went in for service here after my Honda Fit broke down on the interstate. What started as a rattling noise in the engine turned into the a full breakdown of the electrical system. Had my car towed in to these guys. Took a while to diagnose but the mechanic was finally able to confirm that the shield on the catalytic converter had broken loose, dislodged a wire and caused the breakdown. Here comes the part where these guys really saved the day. I wasn't 100% happy with the explanation I was getting out of the service representative. When the manager, Joe, heard this he swooped in, had the car put back on the lift, and had the mechanic walk me under the vehicle and show me exactly what the problem had been and what work had been performed. Total transparency and clear communication -- exactly what you want from a mechanic. And then to underline how much he values his customer, Joe offered me a refund (I talked him down to a steep discount -- it's not about the money for me -- it's about the relationship and the integrity). I understand that Joe is working hard to make sure this service center satisfies all his customers. He reads the Yelp reviews carefully. But if you have any questions about what your car needs, just ask for Joe before you leave the shop. He's a man you can trust and he's on your side. As good as the sales team was at Honda Manhattan was, that's how bad their service team was. I bought my new 2016 HR-V, and immediately after driving off the lot, I noticed that there was a rattling noise coming from the front of the driver's side of the dashboard when going over bumps. I let our sales manager Tubby know about it the next day when we went to drop off the title for our old car, and he set us up with an appointment the following Saturday. We brought the car back for our appointment and were directed to see Miguel at the service center. When we got there, we waited over 20 minutes to see Miguel. He was radioed several times, and when he finally arrived, all he did was refer us to a service manager named Carl. I explained what was going on to Carl, and he had us show a service tech named Francisco the problem. Francisco asked me to open up the driver's side door and bang on the dashboard by the air vent to see if it made the rattling noise when I did. It did make the noise, and his explanation was that "these cars are mostly made of plastic and that's why they make these kinds of noises". To demonstrate his point further, he took us over to a CR-V that was also in for service and did the same thing to its dashboard to show that they all made that noise. Despite Francisco's dismissive explanation, he still offered to take a look at our car to make sure nothing was actually broken, so we left it with him and went about some errands in the city. After several hours, nobody had called us to let us know what was happening, so we went back to the service center to talk with Carl. He told us that Francisco had looked at the car, but didn't find anything wrong. He also said that even though they acknowledged the presence of the noise, since nothing was broken, and there was no service bulletin issued by Honda, this would be classified as a "nuisance", and they wouldn't be able to do anything about it without charging us. Carl's explanation didn't make much sense to us since this was a brand new car with less than 30 miles on it when it was purchased. We had also reported the issue the day after we took possession of the car, so there was no way it could have been anything but a manufacturing issue. These types of things happen with new cars, and are supposed to be covered under the warranty whether a recall has been issued or not. We were very frustrated that we had spent the better part of our afternoon waiting for the car, only to have nothing done. Rather than argue with Carl, we went home. We were not at all satisfied with what happened at the service center, so we made an appointment with Millennium Honda in Hempstead, where we had taken our Fit for its recall repairs. We were very happy with their work, so we wanted to see what they could do for us. We met with our service manager and showed her what was happening. She immediately noticed that the dashboard was a little loose in the corner by the windshield, and said she would work with the service tech to get it fixed. We left the car, and about 90 minutes later, we got a call saying that it ready for pickup. The pin that the dashboard was resting on was misaligned and had to be adjusted. The repair was fully covered under the warranty and we were not charged. After having such a great buying experience, we were really disappointed that our experience with the service department was so terrible. It left us with such a negative impression that we are debating not even taking the car to Honda Manhattan for its year of free service. I'd rather take it to people that I can trust and pay for it than deal with this place. read more

I went to have my turn signals fixed after my car was broken into. While they were at it, I thought they could copy my (non-chip) key. I called for two days before getting a call back that my car was ready. Turns out, they had not fixed my turn signals, but they had re-keyed my car, to the tune of $167. Then the guy told me fixing the turn signals would cost $800 or more, and he knew someone who would buy my car from me. I think I got taken for a ride. In the 5 years it's been since I owned a car, I forgot the hazards of owning a car and being a woman! Never again. Addendum: I have since contacted the manager regarding the ridiculous price for copying a key (my locksmith copied it for $5). He said that they will be sending me a refund check in 7-10 days. Will update once check is in hand! Update: It took 3 months in all, but they did refund my money. So i have amended my review from 1 to 2 stars. read more

I took my car here for a parts recall and sat in their lobby for four hours. I didn't really mind that, it's just part of having a car. It took them 30 minutes to get the car out of the garage, which is annoying but honestly doesn't really earn them a one star review. My problem was what happened the next day. I had brought our Fit in for a parts recall. The car is about eight months old, is garaged, and only has 3500 miles on it. It's clean, runs well, and gets me and my family where we need to be. So don't mistake this review as something that reflects poorly on Honda automobiles, which i adore. The next day, we were rushing to get our 11 day old baby into the back to go to his two week checkup at the doctor. It's January, and with the wind chill, it was probably about four degrees outside, where I had pulled the car around to minimize the time the baby and my wife spent outside. We struggled to snap his car seat into its holder before realizing that the front seat had been pushed back for I assume the maintenance the prior day. What we didn't realize until the car started moving was that they had uninstalled the car seat base - the part that you click the actual seat into that secures the baby during the drive. Now for all you city people that don't have or want kids, that's fine, I get it - but this is extraordinarily dangerous to the point of being criminally negligent. If I had taken a sharp turn or swerved for whatever reason, the seat - and our eleven day old child - would have turned, slid, or tipped over. Again, this isn't just an oversight, this is CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT. A newborn could have been significantly injured or traumatized because the employees here were either too lazy to re-install a carseat or simply neglected to inform us that the seat had been uninstalled. I cannot overstate what a bad practice this is because we're not talking about a bad burrito or an inauthentic ceviche; this could have seriously injured a child. They sent us a customer service email just recently and I expect to be even more forthright therein, but I think I just wanted to get this off my chest and let you all evaluate whether or not you want people like this servicing your car. read more

I am a refugee from the closing of Acura Manhattan. I took my car in for regular service and asked that they check a noise behind the dash. At the end of the day, the service was done - but they had not checked the noise. Rather than allow them to scramble for a solution, I agreed to leave the car overnight. They diagnosed the problem as a relatively inexpensive part replacement, and I left the car until the next week so they could order and install it. I picked the car up and was headed downtown when I noticed that when they opened the dash, they had set the theft security on my radio, so that it was inoperable. I have never used this code, so I had to turn around and go back to have this reset. The service department had no access to old Acura security codes, so they had to take the car back upstairs and remove the radio to manually reset it. When it came back down, I was getting in, and noticed that they had left one of the access plates off and I had to call someone over to replace it. At least I have not heard the original noise, so I give them credit for correctly fixing that. When Acura was doing my service, I got the car back washed with a nice window sticker showing when my next service was due. With Honda, I got sloppy and inattentive service...I also noticed in the service manager's office, open to the drop off area, a board showing which service reps had racked up the most charges, which certainly did not make me feel that they had my best interests at heart. read more

This is by far the worst service I have ever experienced!!!  I would never recommend this place unless you have money and time to throw away.  If you do, then this place is for you.  It all started with a life threatening recall that I needed for my car, so I called up Honda of Manhattan to make an appointment for Saturday 3/13/15 since it was so close to where I live.  I figured, I'd just bring it in, have the airbags and ignition recall taken care of and be on my way. When I initially called to make an appointment, they said that it was a two-step process where I would have to leave my car so that they can get the serial numbers to the airbags and order the parts.  The service advisor said it would only be 2-3 days before they get the part and have it installed.  Since they already had my car, I told them they could hold onto it since I didn't want to make multiple trips being that it would only be a few days.  One full week had passed and I didn't hear from the service center, so when I called, they said that the reason my car wasn't done was that the service advisor, SAM, was in an accident causing the delay with my car.  I couldn't believe that my car just sat there a whole week due to one individual's personal situation.  When I did get a call back, SAM apologized and instead of addressing the recall, he said that my car needed a drive belt, front and rear brake pads with rotors, 4 wheel alignments, rotate and balance tires, and a new battery.  Now how is that possible when I just had new brakes done to my car 3 months before at Firestone along with wheel alignments, and had a brand new battery replaced at Midas about 2 months before I brought my car in?  Hmmm.  Makes you think doesn't it?  I told him that I'd love to see that list because I just recently took my car into Firestone and Midas within the last 3 months before I drove it to Honda of Manhattan.  Not to my surprise, I didn't receive the email and as many times as I requested it, it miraculously vanished.  While waiting for this email another week, I still didn't hear anything about the recall, so I called again and complained.  During this time, I was kept on hold for 21 minutes before I was hung up on.  During my wait, Sam called me on the other line and left me a message apologizing once again that he was working at another Toyota/Honda dealership and wasn't around to handle my car.  I was so angry that my car just sat there for two weeks without it being worked on for what I initially brought it in for on top of the fact that this so called laundry list of service that I needed was never once mentioned again.   At that point, I picked up my car from their facility and called the manager complaining about what had just happened and that I did not want Sam touching my car after this whole incident.  They assured me that he was let go because apparently he's been doing this to several customers and that the facility has had six managers in the past and now they're under new management again.  That being said, I requested that the recalls that I originally brought my car in for be taken care of.  They then asked me to bring my car in again since they couldn't find any information on my car and needed to get the serial numbers from the airbags.  This is beyond ridiculous at this point!   I decided to call 5 other Honda dealerships to see how they handled the airbag recall and not one dealership said they needed the serial numbers.  They only needed my VIN# which can be taken over the phone and they would call me when the parts are in.  I finally got the recalls taken care of from a Honda dealership an hour away in Long island (Honda of Manhattan is only a 10 minute bus ride across town) and only took two weeks from the time I called them to order the parts and two and a half hours to get the job done.  No two-step process!  I don't know where they got this process from, but my hunch is that they just want you to bring your car in so they can tell you that you need all this work done to your car and rip you off.  I literally wasted two months (3/13/15-5/8/15) before I walked away in disgust while it only took the other place two weeks to get the parts and two and a half hours of work. To top it off, as I'm now reading everyone's negative reviews about this place, I came across Erica H's review that was written on 1/9/15 who also had a bad experience.  She mentioned that she was overcharged by "SAM" who was let go since he's been doing this to several customers.  WOW!!!!!  So SAM was let go back in January 2015, meanwhile I dealt with SAM who obviously tried to rip me off during March-May 2015 and management told me the same exact thing that they just let him go due to his fraudulent activity with several customers.  Something isn't right here. I have been using this repair shop for my annual tune-ups for years, since it was part of the Acura dealership. Through the years, the service was OK and always reliable. I recently took my car in for service two times and found the attention to detail and work to be exceptional. First, I had a flat tire and some damage from running into a curb near my garage, and second for a minor scratch and oil refill. The manager in the front office cares deeply about the quality of work at the shop and time they put into the repairs. They were on time and let me know when my car was ready, which on both occasions was delivered clean like new. I have always had excellent service at this location from both the sales people and staff. For both repairs or tune-ups, I recommend this service very highly. Given how hard it is to trust the time and cost of a good car service and repair shop, I'm grateful they are in Manhattan!! read more

Then I'm informed that the technicians are at lunch (from 12 pm to 1 pm) and the earliest I could have the car is 230 pm. I indicated at the time of the appointment that I would be waiting for the car. Why did they book my appointment for 12 pm if no one would be available for the oil change? Don't waste your time here. A simple oil change and inspection took over 3 hours. That is not including the extra 30 minutes it takes to actually get your car into the service garage. Tack on up to 30 minutes more to get it out. Scroll through the other Yelp reviews, you'll see this isn't an isolated incident. Their "express service" is a lie. Customer service could also use some work. No one bothered to find me in the waiting room and explain the delay. Even worse, it is next to impossible to speak to a service manager. After several attempts, I spoke with Eddy Yoo (manager) who promised me a partial refund but then never followed up. Steve Tancona (general manger) contacted me to discuss the poor rating I gave on the automated Honda phone survey. I missed his call and he didn't return mine. I received faster and better service at the DMV. Bottom line, go somewhere else. P.S. Did you notice that every review for this place is either 1 star or 5 stars? Took my car in for what I was told would be an 90 minute to two hour wait and ended up wasting 4 hours on a Saturday that I will never get back. I would have been okay waiting to pick up my car in 4 hours if I had been told the wait would take that long. Instead I was "reassured" repeatedly that it would only be 15-20 minutes" longer. IF I COULD LEAVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. Hands down the absolute worst car experience I have had.......and it's not over yet! I brought our car in for an expired sticker as well as having the sensors that were cut out of our bumper replaced. The car was there for almost a month. It was finally ready and I went to pick it up. The charges were almost double what the person I had been dealing with, Sam, had told me they were, even after my insurance deductible. Turns out Sam had been doing this with many customers and was let go. I left the garage and when I was almost home realized there was no new sticker on the car. I was certainly charge for the inspection. I had to turn around and drive all the way back and wait for the inspection. A few days later my husband complains and about the sensors not working. So, I call them. Seems they somehow managed to replace the sensors, but not hook them up and that is another part and more labor. The new guy says he will let me know when the part is in and also contact my insurance guy. I hear from no one, so call. He says he couldn't reach my insurance person. I call him and he never heard from Honda and says he can go anytime. I call back Honda and am told they will be in touch. That was early December. My insurance inspector to this day has never heard from them nor have I. Today I spent half an hour waiting to talk to someone on the phone. No one was available and the person who books appointments there was nice enough to send an email asking someone to call me. I am assuming it will be another month before I hear from anyone. HORRIBLE SERVICE ALL AROUND FROM THE SERVICE GUYS TO THE AUTOBODY GARAGE THEY WORK WITH. I'll go to another place to fix it. Guess what!! After few days telling me my car wasnt ready because one of the parts of the airbag was wrong, they finally told me my car wasnt drivable because the axle assembly was broken. REALLY???? In top of that they told me they would not fix my car, I guess If they broke something they have to fix it. I spoke with the manager and he told me that I have to tow my car next day or they will start charging me $75/day for parking when in the receipt clearly says $20. My car still there, I dont have the money to pay for towing, and I guess is their reaponsability If I drop off my car 100% drivable they have to return my car back 100% drivable. Many months ago, after getting confirmation from the service center that my car was recalled for defective airbag, I made an appointment to have the work done...a one day job, I was told. The day before the appointment, I called again, to confirm that they had the necessary parts to complete the servicing, so that I would not waste my time. I was told that they had the parts. Sounds good, sounds simple... right?? Brought car to dealership the next morning. I was called later in the day, to return to pick- up my car. I returned, only to discover that they had NOT done the work they had promised to do. I was told instead, that they had confirmed that my car was, in fact, eligible for the recall servicing (I had made sure to clearly confirm this when I originally made the appointment)...Now, I needed to make a second appointment to have the recall servicing done...When I asked, I was then told that all airbag recalls required 2 appointments. WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT???? This day was a total waste of my time. At the next appointment, the job was done (I hope). Although everyone was quite pleasant , this place was a dud, in my opinion. I felt that I had not been dealt with in an honest manner. For the latest airbag recall, I am going out of Manhattan, even though it will be less convenient. Beware of their complimentary inspection service, subsequent (imposed) long wait-times and resulting scare tactics and compulsory waiver- might be different if your vehicle is still under warranty. Unless you like waiting, specify that they contact you by phone and that you don't want your car to be cleaned. (The car-wash is a 5 floor walk-up) up then another 5 floors down on a potentially busy vehicle elevator. They use these delays to scare you into buying a frightening list of overpriced repairs that need to be done "IMMEDIATELY!"* If you don't fall for that, they will make you sign a waiver before they hand your vehicle back... *expect to hear the phrase "won't pass inspection..." Went in for air bag recall... All very friendly and fast , good coffee. They wanted to go over the car for free inspection. I said fine but do not do anything except the recall. Got a call a few hours later that the Serpentine drive belt and other parts needed to be replaced. I called back and said I would be picking up the car and they would be emailing be detailed estimate of work needed. I bought the car last year a 2008 with 98, 000 miles on it in very good condition. In the fall my service guy went over it and had to replace the lower control arms and he pointed out that the Drive belt was dried out and cracked he replaced it then. I checked out the drive belt when I got home ... still looked like brand new ... probably good for another 90.000 miles .. The belt tensioner was fine and the water pump is not leaking and works fine... these are all the items they recommended I replace. I use to work on cars and I am very familiar with these parts. They wanted $975.00 for work that did not need to be done. I sent them an email saying that they must have mixed up the paper work on my car as the belt was new and none of the repairs they suggested were needed. Never heard back.... no wonder there. I love the Honda ... my mechanic says they are the best car on the road...... just don't Use Manhattan Honda Service. If you have any doubts about service find a good reputable local mechanic and have them give you an opinion and price to compare. read more

Once upon a time I used to go here with an Acura that was under warranty. I was loyal and always brought my car here. Then my warrant ended. Then they magically became only Honda service instead of both Acura and Honda. I remained loyal. However... The service has very rapidly declined into absolutely horrible. Also good luck trying to phone to make an appointment, they can't seem to answer the phone with out hanging up on you. I'm done. Never again. Also do not call your customers sweetie. Where do I begin? I give this location 0 stars, one of the worst experience ever .I took my car here with a problem after my 7th time and more than 2,000 dollars spent. My vehicle still has the same problem. The end result is me having to tow the vehicle from New Jersey where we almost got into a big accident to this same Honda location because I already paid for this to be fixed, and I'll be damn if I start from scratch at another location.I am now left with no alternative but to take them to small a claims court and contacting someone higher than the manager that has not been any help. read more

Worst experience. I came here once and I don't plan to return. I'm doubtful they serviced my car at all. All the warning signals that were on before dropping my car off were still on when I picked it up. I had to go back and have them turn them off, which took way longer than it should have. I give up. I took my car here twice in the last two weeks and it still isn't fixed. The car was making a noise, and they diagnosed an issue and charged me about $300 more to do the same thing another mechanic quoted me, but I had to stick with since they charge $150 just to look at the car (keep that in mind when taking it here). They also admitted to being able to mark up their prices quite a bit. They also quoted us a certain price "all in," then charged us a huge amount of tax when we picked up - so obviously the quote was not "all in." When I picked my car up, it still wasn't fixed. Back to the auto shop...where five mechanics stood around my car trying to re-diagnose the issue. They then kept the car again, and "fixed it," but when I picked it up the second time, the issue still was not resolved. It's just too inconvenient to keep taking it back to this location. It's crowded, far away from the subway if you're leaving your car, and the managers are pretty uncaring and unhelpful once they have your money. Going to try to find a competent place to take care of the issue. Cutting my losses at this point. read more

Brought my Accord in for service because one of the rear doors wouldn't open from the inside. I was greeted by Karen in service. She immediately said "have you engaged the child safety lock." I took my car in for airbag replacement. I expected it to be an awful experience and was SHOCKED that it was beyond lovely. Easy to find, easy to get into, they greeted me at the door, they explained everything and gave me a free inspection while they were doing the airbags. The service department unfortunately mostly Spanglish speaking had the balls to make fun of my handicap father and call him all sorts of names in Spanish. These people are so dumb and uneducated that they assume people don't understand other languages. Unfortunately, I found this out a little to late from my father about what had transpired. The service here is the worst, avoid this place. It took them seven hours just to do a terrible car wash. I could have done a better job in 20 minutes with a bucket of water. Any work you need takes all day even a car wash. I would never recommend this place not even to my worst enemy. I called to make an appointment they told me to come following week, I show up and leave my car, I called six hours later and they tell me they need to order the part. So I waste The whole day for nothing, I go back to pick up my vehicle. Two weeks later I called again, and asked if they got the part that was order. Why nobody bothered to call me ? read more
