Just simply a crook in my opinion. They quoted me $80 over the phone to change a tire? A carry in rim with a new tire to mount on it, no flat fixing just mounting and they quoted 80. Absolutely, hands down, one of THE BEST auto care facilities I've EVER been to. Facilities are extremely nice. Bathrooms are clean and smell wonderful. They offer food and drinks when waiting. Even have a Kurig! But what sets them apart is their name, Honest 1. They were completely honest with me and explained everything they were doing and were going to try doing. They are now my go to in Ormond. They were quick and very nice to work with. I thought I needed a few things done, but they ended up calling after the inspection saying that they do not recommend. Which saved me money and gave me the feeing they did not want to milk me for money. They also recommend another a service since they were doing the labor now for something else, it would make that recommend service much cheaper instead of paying for that labor again when I would need that service in the future. However, I have had a rattle for a while. I did not think much of it, but a mechanic I took it my car to shortly after, noticed and fixed the rattle (broken engine bolt). I did not ask Honest about the rattle, but it would have been the icing on the cake if they did says something about that. Very friendly, helpful office staff. Couldn't ask for nicer folk. They quoted me $700+ to replace a multifunction wiper switch on my steering column. I thought that seemed a bit high and so I looked into it and found the same part from a number of retail sources for about $70 (they would've charged me $277) and I watched two YouTube videos on replacing the switch. You remove three screws, two plastic pieces, 1 more screw, uncouple an electrical housing, slide out the switch and then just work backwards. The jeep mod catalogs says this is a 30 minute fix. The garage wanted $350 for labor. And $60 for shop supplies (are they going to buy new screwdrivers?). Maybe every shop is like this these days but this just seems excessive. Time to get my hands dirty, I suppose. read more

I own Mercedes C300 4matic and have been looking for a reliable and honest auto repair shop. I went to couple auto repair places and wasn't impressed with their service and behavior. Also the local Mercedes Dealership is notorious for charging way to much for the services they provide and not all the repairs they do are top notch. I'm glad I called an Honest - 1 Auto Care, spoke to Ben - service advisor - great guy! Ben was very warm on the phone and I booked B service and alignment, hopping my MB will be treated good. So we brought my husband's car in for an estimate. It took a week before finally receiving an estimate. They told us it would be 1,800 to do the back brakes. I found myself here after purchasing tires from the South Daytona Beach location which I frequent for my oil changes. After being made aware that the tire machine in SDB wasn't the best option to mount the tires on my over-size aluminum rims I was asked to drive here to get the tires mounted and balanced. The owner and technician from the SDB store met me here and they did the work so my interaction here mainly was a greeting by this location's staff and the owner. This is beautiful location with a very nice waiting area complete with complimentary coffee and refreshments, comfortable seating and a large screen television segregated from the business counter which is nice. The shop is in the back of the store and is very modern and spacious as well. If I lived in the area I would definitely come here for all my automotive service, I've found Honest-1 to be a very professional company with great ethics and integrity.... read more

Took my car to them for an oil change and a tune up. They found I needed my 2 front wheel barrings & lower control arm replaced. They replaced them. 2 weeks later my car over heats needing to be towed back to Honest-1. They found a whole new list of problems: thermostat, inner water pump and radiator. We accepted thermostat and water pump because they said radiator didn't need to be done immediately. Moving forward from that by a couple more weeks..my car started grinding and pulling to the left and my steering wheel was not aligning with the direction of my wheels. So I took it to Tire Kingdom to get an alignment done. As Tire kingdom was in the process of doing their work...they found that the lower control arm had not be properly put on my car causing one of my brand new wheel barrings to go bad. The gentleman at tire kingdom noticed that i had 3 car seats in the back of my car and stated that he wouldn't drive my car anywhere with children until work was completed. We could have been in a wreck...I have a video of the lower control arm dangling off my vehicle. read more

My experience couldn't have been better. Kristine arranged a rental car from Enterprise after 5PM on Friday and took my car in for repair for Saturday. Since my repair was covered by the NAPA Service Center warranty, I had no out of pocket expense other than for the rental of which Kristine got me their corporate rate! I was in Daytona for the weekend so it was great when my car was fixed as promised Saturday afternoon. We are new to the area and had a fuel pump go out in one of our vehicles, on the bridge in the pouring rain. We picked honest 1 hoping the big fancy building would translate to good service. The next morning we received the quote. My husband is mechanical and in other circumstances could do the work himself. They were almost 200$ higher than several other shops in the area. When we notified them we were taking it elsewhere, they told us we would have to pay for the diagnostic labor before releasing the vehicle. I protested, as that was not mentioned prior to us authorizing the quote. Update: I did receive a call from the manager as he tried to justify the charges, stating that the independent garages in the area will undercut their price with cheap parts made in China. (The garage we took it to, get their parts from the same distributor and have a warranty) But he did waive the fee. read more

He then offered to extend a refund of 10% on the work I had done. It is so nice these days to run into businesses who follow up with their customers. Mike did not ask that I change my review, I have changed my rating solely based on their follow-up and response. (I never give 5 stars unless it includes dinner and a movie, ha) The catch is in the name. Took a truck I just bought that needed to be flushed of all oils, fluids, ect. and needed an adjustment to the cooling fan clutch? Be ready, these guys are expensive! Back to the name. My Dad always said "There is no degree of honesty. You are either honest or you are not" Honest-1 gave me a quote for the above services. I noted to them that the price seemed very high. They said it was do to the fact that they warranty their work. (I would expect this at the least). Told me several times this was the best they could do. I am new to the area and other reviews were quite good. Never did they ask if I was a AAA member and I did not even think about it. Wife just had oil changed and she did ask about the AAA discount. They told her yes they do give a AAA discount. When she told them about my bill they just said too bad. (Also, no discount for oil changes) So, Honest-1 is only honest with you if you ask them to be.
