Overpriced This is the worst place to visit for any car repairs, and they don't live up to their name. There's nothing honest about anyone who works at this place. They are scammers who only want you to pay the highest price. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! I had an issue with my vehicle, after getting it diagnosed at Auto zone, they informed me what the issue was, so I took it to Honest 1/ the scammers to get it fixed, but if course they wanted to do there own diagnostic test, so Dennis the liar called me and said its going to be 8,000 because I needed a catalyst converter I was hesitant because that's a lot of money, Dennis ask if I could come in, so I did a few days later. When I got there I started asking questions and telling him that the first diagnostic test said I needed a fuel injector, but Dennis ensured me that once I get the catalyst fixed then it will solve any other issue that the car was showing, we started to discuss price, we came to an agreement on a price that was going to cover everything needed to fix the catalyst, wires and all. Maybe a week or so I get a call from Dennis to say my vehicle was ready to be picked up, but it's still shaking because you denied the service I offered...... I said to him I didn't deny anything. we came to the agreement that the 5,000 would cover everything, so I don't understand what you mean. He started yelling and saying well I'll just take the price back up." Dennis was so unprofessional and rude, I ask to speak with the manager and he didnt want to come to the phone, the manager who's also a scammer was there the day I came in and he did not handle the situation he allowed his employer to be rude lie and yell at me over the phone. Im furious because I had to pay 5,000 for repairs, and my car is not even repaired. It's still shaking a d. The engine light is still blinking. Dennis and everyone who works there lacks integrity, and they don't care about your needs at all. The name Honest is a front because they don't have any character at all. My husband heard how he was yelling and lying to me over the phone, and my husband called him a liar. When I got to the office, Dennis threatened to fight my husband in the parking lot. I'm still dealing with the same issue that I paid 5k for, and Dennis and this company are frauds and need to be SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!! They offer this predatory loan that forces you to pay an insane amount of interest if not paid within a certain time, everything about this ScAMMER company shows that some people are just so disingenuous and lack customer service and people skills. STEER CLEAR of this place! ... This is not the same place/service that we once received. They are in my opinion crooks. I towed my vehicle in after having a scan that gave me a few codes. I was then told that I needed a whole new engine and a new battery on a vehicle with only 99k original miles. I was initially quoted over 8K for a used engine, then lowered to $6,100k. Stupid desperate me, paid for the work. (it took me 5 months to get the money together but I got it). The work was done. When I picked up the vehicle, the power steering was/is out and they claimed that they told me about this before doing the work. Well that is a lie. They then refused to do a second diagnosis and the female owner, told me that I would have to pay for the diagnostic and the work. They also failed my inspection stating that I needed new wipers blades and headlight covers. Yesterday, after replacing the headlights and wipers, I took it back for me SCHEDULED re-inspection at 8am sharp, I was told to reschedule as the "inspector" had to "go to court" (I wonder why). So, I took it to Doc Auto and OMG.. not only did I fail, I was informed that I need Control Arms/belts both sides. Wheel alignment, AND a CATALYTIC CONVERTER None of this was told to me by Honest 1 Fredericksburg. They just put in a new engine took my money, and sent me on my way. read more

Had the worst wheel alignment ever and I've been driving for 59 years. Wasn't having any issues with the alignment on my 2024 CRV but scheduled this since I just had new tires installed two days ago. After Honest1 alignment my car steering wheel had to be turned approximately 20 degrees to the left in order for the car to drive straight!! So I immediately go back and they redo the alignment. I watched this time and the amount of adjustment was extreme. When asked why their first alignment was so far off the technician told me their alignment machine was "wonky". When challenged about the honesty of charging customers for alignment using a "wonky" machine the technician invited me to step out to the parking lot to fight. The owner was standing there for this entire exchange and said nothing. Based on my experience they DO NOT have a RELIABLE ALIGNMENT MACHINE ,an alignment done on a "wonky" machine is essentially worthless, and the technician wants to fight you when the lack of quality in his work is pointed out. read more

There is a reason they have 2 stars. Took my vehicle in for an inspection. Was told me inspection failed as I needed front breaks as they were below specs for passing. I was quoted over $1000 to replace my front breaks. I immediately told him I will pick up my vehicle and would get repaired elsewhere as the dealership charged a little over $400 for my rear brakes. Upon repair of my brakes, I find out there's no reason I should've failed as my brake pads are just fine. there was plenty of padding left on my brakes so they were obviously just trying to make money. The service writer told me he didn't think it was the timing chain. He thought it was a throttlebody. I said I wanted to have my timing chain Replaced . What does he do? He changes the throttle body without my permission went to pick up my vehicle and was having same issues. I didn't make it 2 miles down the road. Throttle bodies do not go bad. They reprogrammed themselves. After all that mess he told me I should replace the timing chain Replaced. I told him in his just ripped me off for $700 and I would never come back here again. Caring, compassionate and professional staff. I had no appointment but walked in with a key fob that was disabled because of a depleted battery. They kindly let me use their phone to get some help while ordering the correct size battery to have delivered. Within the hour my key fob was working, my car started and I was able to drive over to the auto care center to pay for the battery. The bill was reasonable and they didn't even charge for labor! Do not ever take your cars here. This place is a joke. Please take my advice. So we took our vehicle in for a state inspection and obviously it was rejected for three things. Not a big deal if they knew what they were talking about and weren't seeking money. First, one of the license plate bulbs was out. They asked for $25 to replace it. I literally just pushed on it a little and it worked perfectly. Makes me think they messed with it after everything else. Second, they stated that the marker/parking lights needed to be replaced and had to be amber. Hmmm. According to the picture, we don't have parking lights!!!!! Yet they wanted to charge me $55 to replace them??? The amber strip below are our turn signals and flashers and they work perfectly. Also, according to Virginia inspection law, a vehicle is not required to have parking lights. If they do, they must be operational. We don't have them!! Finally they decided to say that our brakes did not meet standards and that I should replace the rotors as well. They would be happy to do it for us for $400 of course. When I heard that recommendation I had them take the car down. I took it to another place who actually specializes in brakes and they said everything was fine and the brakes are easily good for another year or two. I came back to this location and asked for a refund and explained everything and even that we don't have marker lights and they denied the refund and decided to flip me off when out of view of the camera. Nice operation you have going here. Like I said, please avoid this place at all cost. They are called honest lol. I don't like writing bad reviews but these guys haven't a clue. I took my Moms car over to these guys( her request) and explains that the A/C wasn't blowing out of one vent and wasn't cold. Went to pick it up and the service writer told me that the car was fine and well within factory spec. Mom called and said A/C wasn't working so I took it to the dealership Buick. Just got the call that the condenser was bad and needs replacing. Now why didn't these guys find it. Buick called me back in 1 hour with proper diagnosis. Buyer BEWARE! My son brought his van there for state inspection. Instead of being Honest and collecting a fee (usually $13-$18) for a failure sticker; Mike at the shop kept the van there. Mike convinced my son they would run some tests and get back to him. One week went by. I asked my son, where is your vehicle? I told him we need to get the vehicle immediately- Sure enough, tests were run on brakes and many other specific areas not expected. The fee for a failed Inspection would be $117. I exclaimed, WHY? Where I take my car on Princess Anne Street, those mechanics would have been up front and not charge extra labor! The labor was $80!!! Mike at the counter then adjusted the fee for my son to $95! UPDATE: After driving my car for a few weeks, it started leaking oil. I drive a Subaru which requires a crush washer/gasket to go along with the oil filter. This was a new car getting its first oil change, so I was concerned when this happened! As it turns out, they did not put the crush gasket on when they replaced the oil filter, causing the leak. Subarus aren't especially rare around here, and I feel that this is something professionals should know. I do not think I'll be back after all. ORIGINAL (4 stars): I needed an oil change on my new vehicle and I got their flyer in the mail, so I decided to give them a shot, since they're convenient to where I live and the coupon was a good deal. The oil change was fast and very affordable. Their waiting area is also incredibly nice and comfortable (why is it that most mechanics' shops have the most uncomfortable chairs ever??). They had free wifi, the bathroom was clean and lovely, and the complimentary beverages were also a perk. (I enjoyed the heck out of my juice box.) I will say that a few things raised my eyebrows... When I arrived, nobody was behind the front desk, even after I'd waited for several minutes. I had to go find someone. Likewise, I'd made my appointment online two days prior and had a confirmation e-mail. However when I told them that I was there for my scheduled appointment, they did not appear to have record of one being made. That did not end up being a problem, and all in all, those are relatively small things. I was in and out faster than I normally would be at other places, they were friendly, and they also seemed genuinely interested in my return service. The guys working here didn't try to get me to scare me into having extra work done on my vehicle which has happened to me before. I was impressed with the patience and thoroughness they explained the issues. Even watching their interactions with other customers I found them patient. The place is very clean. My battery light was coming on. I thought perhaps the battery was dying; and issue I'd previously experienced. I was right by the store and stopped in, doubting they could quickly address the issue. I was told it would be an hour, so I declined. I told them I could take it to an auto parts store who would replace the battery for free. As I was leaving the counter person yelled something as I drove past him walking down the aisle of the parking lot. He said I passed close by him and aggressively accelerated as I did so. This was absolutely not true. I was no closer than I would be to anyone you pass when that person is walking down the aisle of a parking lot. To that point I had no reason to be angry. I'll admit at that point we did exchange words. The employee threatened me and kicked my car. I didn't really notice at the time but he'd broken my side view mirror. I called the sheriffs' department. However, the cameras outside the store are not functional and it was in essence an "I said - he said - I said he said" situation. There is no doubt in my mind had the cameras been working they would've see this person damaging my car. read more

For starters they said my headlights were not factory ,most of us know if it says DOT approved then it is state legal. Then they go on to say I have no front plate, ok and that is compromising the safety how?? Anyways I only took it here because I was close by and didn't feel like driving to the dealership where I get free inspections. Also keep in mind this truck has been the same for the last 4 years and passed at a dealership. So tell me why a smaller shop fails it. No clue but the reviews are really true about this place. I called this business to get a cost on getting my brakes replaced. They quoted me $450 minus a coupon promotion. After the job was performed the bill was almost $1000. The representative advised me that it was my fault for not asking for a two axle price versus a 1 axle price. Unfortunately I am not well versed in auto mechanics so I wasn't sure or aware that I needed to ask for a 2 axle price. What I did ask was how much does it cost for new brakes on my vehicle. People that uses this establishment please make sure you get everything in writing before they take your car to the back because I do not want the same thing to happen to you that has happened to me. So we have an older vehicle, with older vehicle issues, and I was trying to decide whether it was time for a new car or could we squeeze 1-2 years out of the "beater". So we called honest A-1 and asked if they could do a "pre-inspection" so we could have more facts to make an informed decision. They quoted us $30 dollars over the phone for the pre-inspection (charged us $50) and it came back with between $500-600 to pass inspection. Additionally the technician told me a spot on the subframe may need to be welded (he wasn't sure) but overall the car was sound. So based on the info from A-1 we made some simple repairs (bulbs, wipers, buffed the headlights) to save a few dollars. Fast forward a few weeks, we bring it back for an actual inspection, $3000+ of repairs needed to pass inspection!!!! It turns out the subframe needs to be replaced, and now some of the bulbs are too bright! I have no doubt these repairs are legitimate, but they should have been mentioned after the $50 pre-inspection and before I spent $100 on a buffer, bulbs and wipers. We told you exactly why we were bringing in the car for a pre-inspection. If you cannot do a pre-inspection then don't offer it as a service! Thanks for wasting our time and money! This was my second visit. The first visit was for an oil change and things went well. Today 9/30/2017, I was seeking the charge for an upstream 02 sensor replacement. Mike quoted me the price of $200.00. When I began to explain to Mike that I knew what and where the 02 sensor is and that it is a very simply job (Upstream or Downstream), Miguel cut me off and was VERY ruled and said "it's not that simply. If you think its that simply do it yourself." In fact it is that simple. You can literally open my hood and "see and touch it." This a 10 minute job to unscrew and snap back in. I went to Auto Zone and purchased the OE Oxygen Sensor for 53.99 and the Oxygen Sensor Wrench for 29.99 total charge of $88.43 and replaced it myself! A total saving of $111.57 and minus the POOR customer service. Last but not least, I AM A "WOMAN". The worst thing about doing it myself was getting a little dirt on my hands, but well worth it. When I stopped at Honest -1 three months ago I thought they were in deed honest and friendly. I had a slow leak in a tire. They re-glued the frame and didn't charge me. WOW cool right.. So when it came time for a state inspection I thought of them. They were a bit busy and the wait for an inspection was hours. So the next week I was near Mr. Tire so I stopped by, they could take me in an hour. The attendent asked if I had my lug key to my tires. Of course I did had my rims still shining for six yrs. Always put the lug key in the glove compartment. Ran out to the car not there. I immediately called Honest-1 who asked me to come to the shop. End result they had no record of my visit and claimed they just had my name in their system and of course had no idea where my lug locks where but would charge me $25 per wheel to take them off and by the way could not do the state inspection. Again a hugh WOW. So they failed to live up to their name or coutesy. Nor their ability to keep up with customers records and or visits. Hence NEVER stop in this shop, they may lose your car, your keys, your invoice. And then make you feel like they fixed your car or did something free. Proves watch out if this business says buy three of anything and get something free. Free oil change with this or that. Better then that pass by the shop all together. Dropped my car off with Mike for an oil change and safety inspection and he told me they would top off washer fluid and check tire pressure. Mike called me to say I needed "4 new tires and 2 wiper blades" to pass inspection and recommended belt replacement and battery cleaning due to corrosion. I okayed the new tires and blades, nothing else. Picked up my car 22 hours later and a different gentleman is saying pay up $1000. They added a battery charging service for a battery only a year old, a tire rotation despite the fact they put new tires on my vehicle, And an alignment without my consent (and according to the alignment paperwork there was no significant change so it wasn't even needed). Additionally, according to my inspection report only 2 of my tires failed inspection, so I did NOT need 4 like Mike said. After paying and retrieving my keys I discovered they left my back window down in 20 degree weather (I'm very fortunate my toddler's seat wasn't stolen out of it, can't afford a new one now) and they didn't even top off the washer fluid like I specifically requested and Mike assured me they would. read more

"Honest" 1 told me I needed a power steering hose replaced for $300. During the repair, THEY stripped the thin iron threads on the rack connector of my rack & pinion steering, then kept me in the dark for days about what was going on, then finally told me I needed a new rack, and it'll cost $1400. I work with two former mechanics (one professional & one who worked in his father's shop for years when young). They BOTH said something like that doesn't just happen (as "Honest" 1 was saying). They said the mechanic screwed up, accidentally stripped the threads, then they tried to make ME pay for the whole new rack, plus labor. I refused to pay the $1400. They came back with $1,150. I refused it. I finally settled with them for $930 and got my car back. The guys in work think I should've only paid the original $300. I will never step foot back in this place. I was on my way back to Woodbridge from Richmond, when my tire pressure light came on and I decided to get it checked out here. I was in a rush to get this done, since I had to go to work. They were able to quickly diagnose my problem. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. They didn't try to sell me any products/services that I didn't need, however they did offer some useful suggestions for future consideration. I came in knowing my issues because I usually do my own mechanic work. Mike Cruz was very professional & understood that I knew exactly what I needed & didn't try to pressure me into repairing any other "hidden" problems. He was very prompt at contacting me with my options & given my car is considered an "exotic", he let me know he was unable to locate certain parts that I need, which I figured but I gave it a shot anyway. Pricing was fair, actually cheaper than I expected labor to be. I'm very happy with the prompt service overall -- I dropped my car off at noon & it was ready by 4pm. The only thing I can think of that was a bit off was the fact that my hood wasn't closed all the way, but I'm just assuming the tech didn't know how to close it properly so no real complaint because I caught it in time. My car rides smooth & I'll definitely be back again when I don't have time to do work myself. I wish they would let you bring your own parts (my sway bar bushings are an irregular size because it's a Saleen) but I understand companies have rules in place for a reason.
