I like Honest. It has a cafeteria vibe, but you get table service. Two small disposable plastic cups, a pitcher of water ad your food comes on a tray! So very low key. Very chill, very comfortable. (well, not the seats, but very comfortable as in you can come as you are from a normal day) They've got a pretty big menu with a fair amount of variety. I've had the dosa's and uttapam here, and samosas. Pretty good. My husbands been happy with is food too. This has probably won a place in our regular rotation because it's conveniently located off route 1. It's laid back atmosephere, and both my husband and I having a good experience with the food. Food is decently good, service prompt. . Plain dosa was the usual fare, but the chutney and sambar on the side were bit too plain. The samosa chat as appetizer, Chole batture plate and Vegetable Hakka noodles were good and would recommend. The noodles were tossed in chilli oil and spices so was a bit hot, but tasty. The service is prompt and we got all our food within 15mins of placing the order. There was no follow up by our server though, either for asking if needed anything else or for clearing the used plates off the table. All food is served in some kind of plastic (not ceramic) plates and they have disposable plastic glasses for water which lowered the overall experience a bit. We inhaled our meal! It was so good! Our friends said this was more street food style which was great, as the menu had different offerings from most Indian restaurants. Everything was so flavorful - I LOVED the sandwiches. The drive was far from Boston but the space was clean, spacious, and there was parking. Service was very fast too and we did not have to wait long for food. This was the first time in years my husband and I tried an Indian restaurant, as I cook Indian food all the time at home. We were recommended Pav Bhaji, which is described as being a curry with many vegetables. What we brought home was less than a pint of lentil gravy and two American dinner rolls, which had nothing to do with Indian bread. For $13. I can make approximately 20 gallons of lentil curry for $13. There was no cauliflower or any other vegetable in this cheap dish. We will not be back. read more

Having grown up in Mumbai with amazing street food but lived In Boston where it's a scarcity, I have to be fair in my review. This restaurant would be a 3 in NYC or SF or any city with half decent Indian food. Overall the food is OK, but you have to order right since not all dishes are good. Note: the restaurant serves only vegetarian food. What's great: Pav bhaji (I recommend getting the bread "well done" for that crispy buttery feel) What's good: Samosa Chaat, Dahi Puri, Mysore dosa and Bhel What's terrible you ask? The Paneer tikka and The Sev Puri. Probably the worst Sev Puri I have ever had in my life. Hello Everyone, Not sure what ratings i shall provide for the Norwood Location. Been there with group of 8 people at 8:00pm. The first thing we heard from the waitress is that our order shall be made all at once as they no longer will accept order from 8:30pm but to our surprise they were allowing people to walk into the restaurant after 8:30pm and were entertained. Our order includes an extra onions (lemons were not provided) as add on for the Pav we ordered. To our surprise, the bill includes additional charge for the onions. When asked, the manager says that anything ordered will be charged though not listed in the menu and was not mentioned at the time of ordering. Very disappointed. read more

Honest Restaurant is Norwood's newest restaurant and is part of a large chain of Indian restaurants out of Ahmedabad. They specialize in street food-style Indian fare and the menu is extensive and packed with all kinds of dishes. They just opened their week so it may explain some of the kinks but ordering over the phone wasn't particularly easy and our takeout order - which wasn't even that significant felt expensive, costing well over $90 with tip but only being composed of a few appetizers and sandwiches. The Paneer Tikka ($13) was pretty good - the portion was generous considering it was an appetizer but the Palak Paneer ($16) wasn't very good. The paneer was very chewy and rubbery and the spinach was way too blended and soupy. The samosas ($8 for two pieces) were the best thing we ate tonight and came with two different chutneys which was nice. However on the flipside, the Cheese Bhaji Parv ($13) wasn't that great and for $13, I'd expect a bit more than 2 pieces of bread with some lentils. The garlic naan ($7) wasn't that great and the side of raita was warm which wasn't ideal. I'd also like to point that we wanted to order different items but had to pivot because they were unable to make dosas even though it's advertised on their menu. The website is mediocre at best (and this new location isn't even listed) and we can't order online. Ultimately while excited for this new addition to the area, I am disappointed by some of these shortcomings and hope that this is just from the fact that they're still tuning things since they're so new. I'll revisit them again - in a while - in hopes for a better experience. read more

Got takeout tonight from this restaurant. It was challenging to get hold of a menu since the main website directs you to the location where you're ordering from for a menu. But, there are no websites for the MA locations. We were only able to order because someone posted photos of a menu from the closest other location. You guys need to set up a proper website. The food: We got Dry Paneer Chilli, Bahubali Sandwich, and Cheese Bhel (appetizer). The Dry Paneer was very spicy even though nothing on the menu indicated it was excessively so [This is again why you guys need to set up a website with a menu for the Norwood location]. I also didn't think the portion was very generous. I liked the Bahubali Sandwich which was like a grilled sandwich with minced cucumbers, carrots, onions, green peppers, some sort of radish, or cabbage, mayo, some sort of sweet chutney spread, and shredded cheese. The sandwich is like a triple-decker, so my photo doesn't really do it justice. Papadum crackers would have been much better than ridged potato chips with the sandwich - so think about it. I also really liked the Cheese Bhel appetizer/snack. Sort of like Bhel Puri, if you've ever had it, but different. read more

We walked in and they were very quick to tell us the kitchen was closing soon so we had to order quickly. We're kind of rude about it, but we sat and looked at the menu. First thing I didn't like was tepid water at the table with flimsy plastic cups instead of glasses. Always irritates me when you sit down for a meal and they give disposable things. We picked some things and then when we went to order were told certain items were only available during the week (it was Sunday) so we chose some other options and waited. The food came out and was tasty enough, but could have used salt that wasn't on the table and the waiter didn't come back, I had to flag down people at the front desk for water refill and more napkins and such. The paneer makhani didn't come with rice so we ordered jeera rice separately, but for 19 dollars they could throw in a bowl of rice I think. The only dish I would really recommend was the Samosa Chaat, that was amazing and the kids were fighting over who got the last bite! All in all I would maybe order from them to go if I lived closer but even then I would probably choose other more reasonably priced places. read more

Today I walked in around 8:20pm, the main guy who acts like the manager taking orders asked how many people, I said two so he sat us down. No greetings typical Indian restaurant! He came back in less than a minute and said, you want to place your order, we close in half an hour, so I said give me a minute and we will place it right away. As always at this place nobody greets you, welcomes you, or smile and show that they appreciate or care! There were total of 4 tables only total of 10 people in the restaurant. We placed our order he gave the fried rice first, and finished half the bowl and still our main dish didn't arrive. We kept waiting for the soup so I called him back and asked where is my soup so he goes inside and someone brings it right away, typically every time when you order soup it comes right away, so basically he forgot but didn't say anything, then we got the dry paneer and we finished almost eating everything and then my wife said where is my Falooda, so I called that same guy the manager back, and asked him where is my Falooda, he looked at me shocked and surprised and gave me a gesture like what are you talking about, then he looked at his handheld device if the order was placed and he simply said, "Oh I must have missed it" and walked away it takes few minutes to make the Falooda, he brought it out it on my table didn't even look at me and walked away, such an arrogant, ignorant and illiterate individual no apologies nothing at all! And the soup was disgusting and the paneer was not that great either. The biggest problem with all these Indian restaurants is the owner or the franchise doesn't give a damn about customers complaining because they know they will do well because there is basically no competition in the north east! This chain location is nowhere close to other honest locations. Food is mediocre, expensive and quite a few meni items are not even availabls. Vadapav, south indian food, pakoda, kachori were few that we tried and were not available. Naan is way too small its as close to size as tandoor roti soeze. Pavbhaji was almost next to impossible to eat due to sour/bitter taste for whatever the issue. Only one good item was triple fried rice. Rest of the food was less than likeable. It's a scam. They have no idea how Indian food taste anymore but the price point is so high up there. Chef thinks if you put ton of garam masala in every dish it's going to make up for the lack of cooking skills.So much so that salt was replaced with garam masala in all the dishes. A good restaurant in Norwood is 1947, it has fast preparation and prices are affordable. For example, here a mango lassi cost $8.00, how much does it cost at 1947? Less then half the price here, and it 's an actually mango lassi. Here if you have 5+ guests you have to pay 20% extra, what kind of restaurant does this. Food is good, but customer service is lacking. One time we went there and the daal came out 15 minutes before the roti. By the time the roti came out the daal was hot. Mind you we ordered both things together. The second time, while placing the order we asked specifically that our appetizers be served before our entrees. The waiter said that they could not guarantee this because whatever is made first is served to the customer. The waiter also said it is a fast food concept while trying to explain the situation. My thoughts about this - you can't call it fast food and charge fine dining prices, and you can't call something an appetizer if it comes after the entree. read more
