We stopped in for breakfast after seeing the pictures of their chicken and waffles. The staff was great and so friendly. The restaurant is a classic diner that truly brings you back in time. We both went with the chicken and waffles and we shared a biscuit basket. We opted for the boneless chicken which were basically 3 pieces of chicken tenders and they were delicious. We also opted for them to dip the chicken in the sauce for a little more flavor/spice. The spice level wasn't bad at all and I really don't handle spice that well. The flavor was fantastic and it was very lightly breaded, which was perfect. The biscuits were massive and paired with the honey butter and jelly, they were delicious. The portions of our entire breakfast were on the higher end for a reasonable price. Definitely recommend stopping by when you're in the area. They're conveniently located right off the main road from Glenwood Springs to Aspen! read more

I am sorry to hear that Honey Butter is leaving. They had the best chicken in town and really enjoyed their salads as well. This sort of diner style set-up is harder to find. Small setting so service was always helpful and personable. read more

One of our local fb groups recently recommended Honey Butter as the best fried chicken in the vail valley. Well, it's not in Vail Valley, but it is pretty darn good. Plus they serve beer and wine! My wife and I ordered the family dinner (8 pieces) even though we're just two. That's because, well, fried chicken is a treat. For our sides, we got the Super Slaw and Crispy Brussels. Both were fantastic and each came with their own dipping sauces. We also got our chicken order half dipped (4 pieces dipped in the sweet and spicy sauce). The fried chicken was great. Both the dipped and plain were delicious in their own right. The chef (didn't catch his name) came out to ensure our meal was good, and we chatted for a bit about fried chicken. Our waitress was also super nice and gave good recommendations for our sides. She did, however, say that she was not a fan of mac and cheese in general so couldn't comment on the MC at Honey Butter. We'll try it next time and let you know. The only bad thing I can say about Honey Butter is that there were a lot of flies buzzing around. That was both annoying and a little concerning for a restaurant. read more

Warning : this place is not diet friendly. If you have the will power to order one of their salads, you're at the wrong place. Okay, I've been here 3x. I have had their steak and eggs, chicken fried steak, biscuits with gravy add on of 2 pc fried chicken, and their Bonedale sandwich. I am very fortunate to only visit Carbondale once or twice a year, or a heart attack would be imminent. The food is amazing, all comfort food, and to wash it all down they have these amazing milk shakes. My go to breakfast/lunch whenever I'm in town. Very cute retro diner vibes, wish they did dinner so I can gorge on their fried chicken all day. read more

Honey Butter - Strawberry Milkshake, dip those waffle fries in there. - Diners Near Me - Carbondale, Colorado

Honey butter is exactly what you think of when you are wanting comfort food in the valley. Getting ready for a long hike or coming back from one this is a superb place to fuel up. We ate breakfast and Keith, our server, was excellent. He made suggestions that were on point. You absolutely have to get the fried chicken. You didn't come here to be healthy so indulge. I had the biscuit and gravy with friend chicken. The biscuits were hand made and delicious. Flaky but still had some structure. Gravy was good but not perfect but we aren't in the middle of the Tennessee here so I'll give it a B +. However, super charge it with the honey butter. Yes, honey butter on biscuit and gravy. That kicks in completely different flavor and it's down right incredible. The chicken was very moist and perfectly breaded. Excellent taste on its own and the best I've had in Colorado. Now again, super charge it with honey butter on fried chicken. You read that right. Again you didn't come here to be healthy. You came to get your fat on. And it's totally worth it. We enjoyed it so much that there I had to convince my wife we were not coming back for dinner because we can't do that to our hearts. So instead we destroyed our cute little beta islet cells and came back at night for a milk shake. Hey Zeus Christo. What a shake. Mark cuban better hurry up with insulin prices bc I need some bad. read more

Order now!!! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Looking for comfort food or are you from the Midwest missing your grands good ol' home cookin'? THIS is your spot. I loved this place so much the first time around I ordered it again the next day. The Food: The chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak with gravy are a MUST! For sides, I've tried the biscuit, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese all of which were delicious (Mac and cheese was my least favorite). The biscuit is huge and would be great to split between two people... Have you ever tried Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich? Well the Bonedale Birdie blows it out of the water as it's a mouthful of flavor! It's a mix of fried chicken with coleslaw, jalapeños and a special spicy sauce. Get it with a side of waffle fries and you won't be disappointed! The restaurant itself is a fun old school diner vibe. It's definitely my #1 restaurant in Carbondale! I will note: Please review your pick up order as my husband ordered chicken fried chicken the first go around and got chicken fried steak. read more

A friend and I were driving by and the outside decor drew us in. It was pretty quiet inside with just us and one other table, but saw a few people coming in for carry out. Our service couldn't have been better. We had a lot of questions about the chicken and she was very helpful about explaining it to us. She also brought us out a free order of brussels sprouts because our meal was taking longer than expected. Good place to stop in for a meal, especially if you like chicken. read more

Don't leave reviews very often but... we waited about 45 minutes for our food after placing the order. 2 people received cold biscuits and gravy that were not edible. The waitress did not seem to be in a position to care or mention this to a manager, if there is one. I would only get fried chicken from this place. We won't be coming back and we are Carbondale locals. read more

This makes no sense. It's listed as breakfast and Brunch and the menu is clearly lunch dinner. Not one breakfast item. Who wants fried chicken and alcohol for breakfast !! Bummer. Diners should be for dinners. read more

Comfort Food on the next level! Do yourself a favor and share a milkshake -boozy or not, they are amazing! The biscuits are out of this world. The chicken like mom used to make. Very friendly and attentive staff. We stop whenever we are in the Valley. read more

Food was 4/5 stars- your basic comfort food with a slight change of flavor with a flair of imagination. The atmosphere was cool with a 50s style diner look inside and out. The cleanliness of the place was a tad lacking, but nothing major to note. read more

Very friendly service & amazing food. Trent was our waiter and he was very kind and handled our large group well. I dined in with a group of 18. Didn't wait long for food and it was brought out all together!! Mimosas here are absolutely delicious I 10/10 recommend. Eggs and sausage tasted very fresh, best I've had in a while aswell as the pancakes, very light and yummy. Good prices, great food & milkshakes read more

Lunch here was a mixed experience on memorial day. First, we wanted to sit outside, which we did, but there were no umbrellas to block the intense sun on the picnic tables. My birdie sandwich was tasty; I got the hot honey dip and enjoyed the sweet/spicy flavor to the chicken. The brioche bun was soggy, but the waffle fries were crispy and with the perfect amount of salt. My wife's avocado toast was also very soggy; she just ate eggs and didn't eat the toast. The kids didn't love their Mac and cheese; it had a spice on top that they didn't care for. They devoured the milkshakes; I personally thought they had too much whipped cream. We enjoyed the lager on tap but forget the name. I know it was local. All in all, a mixed experience. read more

Diner food. Was just alright. Burgers were good, but the biscuits and gravy were below average. Good coffee and service+classic atmosphere was a plus. read more

Stopped in on accident to this place yesterday. We had planned to go elsewhere. Sooo glad we did. After living in Colorado for 6 years or so. One thing has been apparent. The food isn't good. Growing up in the south has ruined me when it comes to finding good fried Chicken. But what I found here was great fried chicken. It was done exactly how it was supposed to be done. Amazing flavor. Amazing honey drizzle. I can't say enough good things about it. The service was quick and great as well. The only drawback is that I now have to drive to Carbondale weekly to get my fix LOL. keep up the great work. Don't judge a book by it's cover here. It's a cool looking period diner. But it's still well designed and consistent. Def go in and eat. Even if the parking lot is empty. You will be so glad you did. SOOOO GOOD. Don't let this place close!! I can't spend another 5 years looking for fried chicken LOL. read more

Wow!!! I am so pleasantly surprised by this quirky diner in Carbondale, CO, just outside of Aspen. I moved to CO five years ago, and I love it here. Coming from NC, my only CO disappointment has been the restaurant industry. Finding reasonably priced good food AND service in the same location has been a challenge. Honey Butter has it ALL, delicious food, hospitable service, good prices and a unique ambiance. Even though they are about 75 miles from me, I will be going again. Give Honey Butter a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Honey Butter - Chicken Biscuit 133 and waffle fries. - Diners Near Me - Carbondale, Colorado

We decided to stop here after mud slides blocked our path out of Carbondale. So glad we did! The food: 4.5/5 My mom got bacon and eggs and enjoyed it. I got the fried chicken which was very well made, the Mac and cheese which was very savory and the seasoning was nice, and the Brussel sprouts which were amazing. The service: 5/5 server was very kind, personal and attentive. The ambiance: 5/5 there was not to many people and it had a very small town feel. The artwork and outside were awesome. read more

NEW OWNERS. Friendly service. Delicious Morning Quickie (2eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast) and Avacado Toast. Chicken and waffles-Waffles were good but Chicken was a little bland. Coffee is bitter so needed creamer. Sad about the Bloody Mary. The old diner had hard boiled egg and better flavor. Overall good food and service. read more

Try the biscuit basket to start, they were so perfect! The service was prompt and friendly, and the chicken fried chicken breakfast was delicious. The diner also had some cool graphics on the exterior with a classic retro vibe. Highly recommend! read more

Great diner! I went for breakfast and chose the omelette. I put tomato, spinach, bacon and goat cheese on mine. It was fantastic! Cooked perfectly. Spinach was lightly sautéed. Lots of crumbled bacon - no skimping here! Hash browns were good and I got the biscuit as my toast. Biscuit was great, especially with the honey butter. Next time I'm trying the chicken and waffles, which looked great at the table next to me. Oh, and get an old fashioned milkshake - they give you the metal container that contains the extra milkshake. read more

Stop here whenever in town. Love the family special and the leftovers later in the evening

Mediocre fried chicken. Crust was too salty, Mac and cheese flavorless. 3-star is a generous score. There were flies everywhere. I do not see how this place is popular. read more

Excellent food! Serving sizes are huge. Waitress was great. Would highly recommend. Looking forward to trying the chicken.

Wife had the BLT, fresh ingredients, very nicely done. I had the country fried steak with mashed taters & Mac n cheese. The streak was good, gravy better but the gravy on the taters was wonderful. Herby, rich, good good stuff. Now I've had my fair share of Mac n cheese but these guys know their Mac n cheese. read more

Most everything was spectacular, the service was great! I loved the Açaí bowl! I gave a 4 star because of the prices..the mimosas were extremely overpriced, I can go to the Smithy and get one that's twice the size with FRESH SQUEEZED OJ for the same price....that's very disappointing. I also got a tiny tiny order of onion rings for $4...when I say teeny tiny...I mean 5 small onion rings...and no hash browns after 11am on Sunday brunch is also kinda sucky... Other than the price I think everything was pretty good..I will return for the açaí bowl for sure! And btw super glad they are open in Carbondale...I'm glad to have a place to go sit down, relax and eat... read more

Up visiting from Denver. This place is an absolute GEM! Staff was welcoming and friendly from the moment we stepped foot into the diner. They guided us through the menu. We ordered the chicken friend steak and 2 piece fried chicken entrees. Both were VERY good and filling. We topped it off with 2 of their milkshakes that were equally unique creations. We will definitely be back. read more

It was so delicious!! We walked in and they sat us immediately. We got the "almost famous" fried chicken with Mac and cheese and waffle fries and I about died. Best Mac and cheese I've ever had. The chicken was super juicy and moist but still crispy. We got the peanut butter milkshake and it's adorable. However, freaking huge. Don't bother getting one for each person. Definitely share!! Our server was fantastic! Really attentive but not overly so. It was a great meal. read more

Very disappointing customer service just now- I have been a huge fan of this place and was excited to bring my husband for the first time. On our way, I called to find out wait time (we have a 6 month old) in order to plan out nursing him either before or after lunch. Here's how the convo went: "Hi, how long is the wait currently" "Let me drop everything I'm doing and calculate that for you"- very sarcastically. I'm in shock of how rude that conversation just went. read more

They let us in after 2pm (closing time). Friendly fun relaxed mountain diner. Sorta healthy - bowl with fried chicken and greens.
