Hands down, the best donuts around! The old-fashioned cake donuts are my favorite. Sour cream, butter milk, but both my daughter and I love the vanilla with coconut sprinkles on the top. The raised donuts are delicious also. Love the long johns. No grease lick on the top of your mouth that you get from a donut shop that shall remain nameless! How have I not reviewed Honey Fluff? For really real? I've only been here 8,521,452 times. Maybe more. Here's the deal: solid, delicious doughnuts at a reasonable price. It seems like they always have specials going on; no matter what time of day we come in, they are almost always well stocked with fresh doughnuts. Fresh doughnuts with a solid variety of choices (especially when you have a whole gaggle of kids) + good specials = happy parents. :) The cake doughnuts are exceptional--strangely fluffy but with a solid mouth feel. I have nothing against DD, but I'd much prefer (when service & goods received warrants it, as is the case with Honey Fluff), to bypass a chain establishment for an independent. Parking is sometimes a bit of a headache but never flat-out terrible or anything. If you're in the area, it's certainly worth a stop. Yeah donuts! :) read more

I had some business at the local Subaru dealership so I had some time to kill. Two things I decided to try locally, a new lunch spot and a sweets shop. Using the Yelp application on my droid I found this place was the closest and had the highest rating. It was hot the other day, kind of humid outside. I'd say about 86 degrees. Walking up to the shop the front door was wide open. Inside it was a bit warm. The store clerk greeted me and quickly asked what I'd like to order. I asked for a few minutes to make my selection. He mentioned they had the afternoon special which was buy one get one free or buy a 1/2 dozen and get another 1/2 dozen free. Based on reviews & store ratings I figured I'd go for it and get a dozen. Mistake! Let me point you to two useful reviews by Amanda C. & Zoran O. Zoran O. says "others like the sour cream and anything that just came out the back is outstanding" Amanda C. begins her review saying she entered the store at 7 am and from her one experience had given them four stars. I entered just after Noon time. It was warm inside and looking at the donuts I wasn't sure whether they would be in fresh baked condition. I should have asked what was recently made. I got a dozen dough-nuts. Peep the photos if you want to see. Two vanilla long johns, two Boston cremes, a bowtie (dunkin donuts considers this a specialty, not here) two sour cream, two buttermilk, a devils chocolate, a jelly and something else. All of the donuts were day old or older. From first touching them to tasting them, they were old donuts. What a waste. Earlier in the day, I pulled a few out and shared them with some friends, which texted me later to say they were not great. They felt yucky afterwards and one had an upset stomach! I've had donuts and dough-nuts all across this great nation and all were better than the representation I got yesterday. (On another note a couple weeks back I randomly stopped at Dat's Donuts in Chatham of Chicago. Glazed donuts the size of a plate for about three dollars. The fresh ones are amazing and those that I had in my possession some three days later, were still better than Honey Fluff) Note to the new person thinking of checking it out. If it's not the crack of ass in the morning and if they aren't pulling it out of the oven when you stop by, make sure you inquire when it came out of the kitchen. Dunkin Donuts feel-- branding, flavors-- but with more outdated decor. Steady stream of customers. I normally hit up amazing bakeries which are full of old ladies-- this place is all old men. I don't know what that means. (I think it's cute tho) Friendly counter guy (prob owner) Coffee is pretty good (I'm no expert tho). One note- I came to do since work, but the drink fridges are loud and the door has an annoying, dull but buzzing alarm that goes off the full time the door is open. Small parking lot for all the businesses in this strip mall. Donuts slightly worse than dunkin d's but ok. read more

I can see where some may give less than 5 stars on occasion now. Doughnuts are very hit or miss, because they do go bad. I think it's too much to expect a fresh doughnut at 7am, 12pm, 5pm, 9pm, and midnight at the same location. I came back again and was really disappointed. I ordered 4 donuts which were all "off." To top it off, I asked for a peanut donut which is my favorite since no one makes them anymore (darn allergies), and she gave me some peanut crumb topped donut! We cannot say enough good things about Honey Fluff! They've been our go-to for a while with an amazing selection of delicious donuts. This weekend we had a donut themed party for our daughter and Honey Fluff was awesome from the time we ordered to when we picked everything up. Not only were all the donuts we ordered fresh and delicious, they organized them into a beautifully presented box we were able to put out for our guests without any need to replate or reorganize. There have been whispers of the magic that is the Honey Fluff Donut, dancing on the winds that blow through the southwest suburbs. Many a tale has been told about the elusive sweet treats. And y'know what? Like most tall tales, they're fulla hooey. It took me 7 years of living in the area to finally give this place a try, and I wasn't anymore impressed than with the donuts at Dunkin. Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, Honey Fluff is all fluff and no substance. First of all, they were out of plain and regular glazed donuts, so I had to just get a few donut holes to satisfy my donut craving. But next time I'll just stop at Jewel and pick up a box of Krispy Kreme. My wife got a fritter, which I thought was way too cinnamonny. KK's departure from the Chicago area was a crime, and they are missed by many, but sadly, Honey Fluff is not doing much to fill the void. I thought their product was stale and bland. Sorry guys. Probably the best Apple Fritters in the Midwest. This unassuming storefront hides some of the finest donuts I've ever had, and I was a stagehand. You don't go to this place for the ambiance, you go for the donuts. Plus, afternoon and evening specials make the temptation to eat two dozen donuts almost pathological.
