My favorite donuts are yeast/raised donuts. Honey Fluff does a decent job on them, but lots of other places do them better. I'm not exactly a huge fan of cake donuts, but I realize lots of people prefer them. Honey Fluff definitely caters to that crowd. I have to admit, Honey Fluff has some of the best cake donuts I've had, even better than the pricey "gourmet" donut joints in the Loop. The Sour Cream cake donut is excellent. read more

Decided to try this place out today after reading glowing reviews. The reviews are so off on this one. The quality and taste of donuts is NOT different from any other place. I think the donuts are actually worse than any average store. At a minimum, I expected this place to be better than Dunkin Donuts which it was not. I consider myself a 'connoisseur' of apple fritters and buttermilk donuts. Imagine my joy reading this place's specialties were those two donuts! I can say the much raved about fritters were horrible. The buttermilk was equally bad. I've had much much better at other places. Yelpers have been pretty reliable with reviews. Not bad! We got a bunch of doughnuts on our way to the auto show. I personally had a chocolate glazed and a raspberry filled. They were both decent but nothing exceptional. My mom said she liked Dunkin Doughnuts' maple glaze better than Honey Fluff's. Our doughnuts tasted like they had been sitting for a while. Coffee was also meh.... Fantastic homemade tasting donuts that are made in house. The classic glazed is my favorite but it's evident they specialize in the "cake" style donut. Crispy outside with a delectable melt in your mouth inside. I haven't had a donut that I didn't like but I'd recommend the classic glazed, cherry, blueberry, honey twist, and sour cream. Coffee is solid here too. Nothing high quality but for some reason I just like it. Definitely come here instead of your local Dunkin' Donuts that's for sure. read more

Wonderful little neighborhood donut place with great prices. I've been coming here since I was a kid and the donuts are always fluffy and delicious. This is not a boutique shop so only come expecting the traditional donuts. Over the summer we used honey fluff for our wedding reception. We went into the shop and the employees were very helpful. We bought full size and donut holes for all of our displays and nobody was disappointed. Some of the flavors dried out a little bit by the end of the night but if you buy them fresh in the morning they'll be perfect. Try the fritters if you come in. They're huge and you can't beat the price for a massive donut. read more

We went to this little donut shop at 7am this morning. We usually go to dunken donuts but I had seen a review here about this little place. The reviewer stated that "it was the best apple fritter he ever had." As I'm a fan of the apple fritter I had to see for myself, AND I was VERY skeptical. This place is just a little hole in the wall and if you're not looking for it, you wont find it. We walked in and the lady serving the donuts wasn't pleasant, but it was 7am so I will let that slide. She wasn't rude, just not inviting. We ordered 1 apple fritter, 1 sour cream, 1 french twist, 1 honey knot (or something. I can't really recall the name of that one, but it looks like it's tied in a knot.) 1 chocolate chocolate, 1 buttermilk, 1 cinnamon and sugar, 1 chocolate long john, 1 vanilla long john, 1 custard, 1 lemon, and 1 apple. See how thorough I am. I will sacrifice sampling all these donuts to make sure you are fully educated. And I did, I had a bite of each and my boyfriend ate up most of the scraps. First, lets start with the apple fritter. Yep very delicious! Maybe the best I have ever had as well. I had more than one bite of that deliciousness. Second, the buttermilk doughnut was hands down my favorite (next to the fritter but that's in a class of it's own.) It was creamy and cakey (yeah I said cakey.) It was so good. all of the other donuts were good in my opinion except the apple. It tasted like canned apple pie filling in the middle of a powdered doughnut. I also Didn't like the lemon, but I'm not a huge fan of lemon baked goods. My boyfriend (who is a fan) thought it was delicious. His favorite was the chocolate, chocolate. The french twist and the sour cream stood out from the pack too. I wont be going to any other doughnut shop from now on. They have won me over. If they make a homemade apple filling for the apple doughnut (and it's delicious) They will get a 5 star, but most of the doughnuts are already 5 star. Apple fritters are not included in the dozen doughnuts and it was $1.69 I think. We walked out of there with the fritter and a dozen doughnuts for $10.75. There are signs for deals though, that include 2 doughnuts and a coffee for $3.29 I think, or a coffee and a fritter. Don't quote me on the deal prices but I know I'm close, give or take a few cents. read more

1st time trying and I didn't see until after I ordered that the Sour Cream donuts were a must try. IF I go back, I will try them. I was hoping for some really tasty treats but I was mildly disappointed. I had the coconut and strawberry variety and neither was spectacular. It seems like a nice place for the area people to get together with their friends and met for coffee (they do have seating available). The name is so exciting, I had to try these donuts when I was out in the area. Unfortunately, that's about where the excitment ended. The donuts are not all that good. The chocolate cake donuts have little-to-no chocolate flavor (much less the chocolate glaze). And they're a bit dry. The glaze donuts are underwhelming and generic. I've been here a few times hoping that it was just that I came later in the day the first few visits, but a morning visit wasn't the answer. The best part about this place is the price - $10/dozen. So if you don't care too much about quality and are tired of paying $2-4 per donut in some of the trendier places in the City, this place might be for you. read more

Came in here with the kids after their haircuts next door. I only had $1 cash on me and that typically gets one donut. It was late at night and the lady gave each of my kids a donut for the $1. I can only chalk up these glowing reviews to the pedestrian tastes of the average suburbanite. I can't for the life of me imagine all the 4 and 5 stars. I walk in to a little girl watching tv. She then comes behind the counter. They have about 6 types of donuts left, that look like they have seen better days. There are racks and racks of the same types laying uncovered on the counters. I don't even want to imagine how those will taste Sunday morning. I look in the box and decide on a danish. The little girl did not know what a danish was , so I show her. She calls to someone in the back who comes out and tells her the price of 1.50. It was not fresh or very flavorful. It was ok. Maybe those dry looking donuts tasted awesome, but based on the danish I ate, I will disagree. read more

My sister is a bakery fan, so whenever she comes in from out of state for a visit, we try a new bakery or two. This time around, Honey Fluff was on our list. The bakery makes each of their donuts on sight, fresh every single day. We came for the apple fritters (after reading the good reviews here), but also ordered a few sour cream donuts. Honestly, we were a but dissapointed in the fritters. They were dry, lacking in glaze or flavor, and tasted old and stale. If I were to go back, I would definitely skip the apple fritter. We were pleasantly surprised though, by the sour cream donuts. Blown-away really. They were so, so good! Some of the best I've ever had. I think there are better bakeries in the area (namely Busy Bee in Downers Grove, or Walt's Food Stores in the Southern burbs), so I don't know that we'd be back anytime soon. But it was certainly a worthwhile visit. read more

Ok- today i went to this place for the 2nd time. The last time was about a year ago and i only bought donuts. I actually bought a dozen. But, i digress. Anyway i stopped in a scooped up a custard donut with chocolate frosting/icing. I also grabbed an 8oz carton of milk to slam with my donut. I went to my car and ate two bites of the donut. I could tell the custard was about to happen. Licking my lips in anticipation i opened my tiny carton of milk and took a slug out of it. It tasted strange... Not like milk at all... I check the date...it says Aug 12 2016. Ok...today is Aug 7, 2016. I pull apart the carton a little more to reveal a yellowish/ white chunky box of bullshit! Since i haven't left the parking lot yet, i walk in and i was once again greeted with the same dark curly haired girl with really cool blue glasses. I told her, "Your milk is bad. Like, REALLY bad. She responds with, "Do you want another?" -------NOPE----- bottom line...Donuts are ok- the cream filled selection is sub-par and HONEY has NOTHING to do with anything!!!!!! I thought maybe they had like honey in their dough or something. I dont know. I dont make breakfast pastries. Dont drink the milk and you can get the same quality donut at DD. So my husband and I did just that. 20 minutes later...NO, warm fresh doughnuts were anywhere to be found. Super sad face. What a disappointment! And to top if off, the service needs alot of help.
