I've been here a few times now and the food is consistently good. During my most recent visit, I was with a group of people who were new to the KBBQ experience. Honey Pig seemed like a good pick because they are supposed to cook the meat for you here. However, our waitress was not keeping an eye on our table and our meat would have burned if I didn't take care of it myself. In addition, while the grill was being changed, the container holding the drained oil fell into the flame. Thankfully, it didn't spill but the workers really need more training because this can pose serious danger. With an automatic gratuity added, I'd hope for better service. My first time eating Korean Barbecue and while everyone else seemed to think it was great, it wasn't my cup of tea. This is nothing like Barbecue at all. Apparently in Korea, anything cooked at the table is referred to as barbecue. This was thin heavily marbled beef stir fried on a very hot raised disc. There were a couple of pieces of vegetables but scant few for 4 people. The marbling had more to do with producing a lot of fatty grease and not so much flavor in my opinion and some if it was very chewy. The sides include a ginger flavored green salad to share, steamed white rice, and a couple other Korean dishes kimchi and a tofu soup with a few mushrooms. I defer to the others at the table to rate this 4 stars based on their opinions. If you enjoy Korean Barbecue, then according them this is a very good place. Such a cute spot to eat! I had heard a lot of good things about Honey Pig so I was very excited to eat here. Sadly, they don't take reservations. But while it was pretty busy inside, they're able to fit in a lot of tables so it wasn't a long wait at all. We originally just ordered the Premium Combo which was so delicious and is pretty accurate in its description of feeding 6 people. The meat is really flavorful and tender, and it comes with a nice variety of options. I wasn't the biggest fan of how the waiter put almost all of the meat on the grill for us but that's just a personal preference for slowly getting through the meats one at a time. We also ended up ordering the LA Beef Rib since I came with a party of 7 and this was probably my favorite. I definitely recommend trying!! All of the side dishes were delicious and they will refill it for you three times before charging extra. I heard the lunch special is a really good deal, but for dinner, it's a bit pricey. There is nothing watered down to meet Western culture's idea of Korean food here. The location in Maryland is an all you can eat and worth the price. Although Austin's location is not all you can eat, the portion size for the pork combo fed three people and we were stuffed. First time and it was delicious! We got the premium combo which had the biggest group portion including galbi, bulgogi, shrimp, salad, side dishes, rice, and other meat. My favorite is definitely the galbi. Marinated really well and so soft. There are cute drawings in the restroom. They don't take reservations but luckily we got a table. Being a fan of Honey Pig in the ATL, I wanted to love this spot but missed the 5-star review. Overall, great location, and I can understand the draw for Austin, but my comparisons are the LA spots that I live next to, so the bar is relatively high for what I love. Not sure if the freshness of the bean sprouts were off, but I remember Honey Pig in ATL tasting very differently. It reminded us of all-you-can-eat places, where you know the taste will be slightly off, but you focus on the quantity. The service was slow, given that it was about 60% capacity on a Wed early afternoon. Our soups came out late, so we didn't finish them, but after eating a bit of it, it was average complementary soups that accompanied the combo. They did their best, so I want to give them another shot after they work out their kinks. For Austin, it's a needed addition to the KBBQ selection you can get around town. Put all those together and add a little hype from friends and social media and you get one place to satisfy the meat cravings KBBQ style. Coming here on a whim while I was near the Lakeline area I went ahead and tried. Atmosphere: Modern KBBQ style, meaning you'll see those round tables complete with grill in the center. One thing that stood out is that they had vents over the grills to get rid of any smoke so you don't have an overwhelming smell of BBQ. Food: This place may not be buffet style but it more than makes up for it in quality of meat and what you get. One platter of meat is more than enough to satisfy one if you're moderately hungry plus there are also larger platters if you feel so venturous. After being here twice I'd say my stand out favorite are the LA Beef ribs then followed by the pork belly. Savory Delights! I'd also recommend the cheese corn, nothing like a good melty savory cheese appetizer to go along with it all. Service: Something that stood out for me here is that the servers offer to cook the BBQ for you unlike other KBBQ places. For a soft opening the service and food was great!!! We have been waiting a long time to try this place out. I've been anxiously waiting for them to open. Honey Pig BBQ is not an AYCE KBBQ so you can order a la carte or we went with a combo where we could try different meats and get some seafood too. I love spicy cold noodles so I did try it out. They definitely came through with the red chili pepper so I would most definitely get that again. Yum! They server was amazing. This is my favorite kbbq spot in Austin. For a new restaurant that just opened, their service is honestly really good. Yes, you have to wait a long time during busy hours, but they're pretty efficient at getting people in and out too. I like this location over the one in Houston. We ordered the beef combo, which was more than enough people for three people. Their side dishes are actually super good (love, love, love their potato corn salad), and I highly recommend ordering their corn cheese. It's the best I've ever had. First impression review... 4 of us went on a Sunday for lunch after their first week of opening. I heard good things and knew to be there right when they open to avoid a long wait. Let's get straight to the food because we got us a table right away. We chose the premium combo (there is currently no ayce option). Quality of the meats were great and well seasoned. I personally didn't need to dip the cooked meat in the sauces because of the seasoning/marinade. I ate it with the sides and lettuce. I tend to like food less salty. Meats were tender, pork and beef. Surprisingly, the squid was delicious, I didn't have much expectation for the squid since I haven't had a good experience elsewhere. Loved their steamed eggs, so fluffy! We ordered an extra one for only $5!! I mean way worth it! Service was phenomenal and we met Mickey! The face of the restaurant! My party of 7 arrived at 5:30, where we put our name down and was told the wait would be about an hour. OK, cool, fine, that was expected. We came back at 6:30, and was told that we should come back at 7:30. If we knew the wait was 2 hours, then we would have gone elsewhere, but we had already sunk so much time into waiting, we decided to stick it out. After we finally got seated and ordered our food, it seemed as if the order was forgotten. We had to ask our server where our food was after a 30 minute wait to finally get our meat. Yay! I'm so glad the Asian food scene continues to expand in Austin and that Honey Pig is conveniently located right next to HMART. I've had my eyes on this restaurant for a while and I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they finally opened this month. Tables are spaced out nicely and have retractable vents directly over the area the food is being cooked at. I was satisfied with most of the sides, but I was left wondering what happened to the seasoning on the meat. Since we had a large group we ended up getting the pork and beef combos, along with corn cheese and japchae. For the price, quality, and taste, I think it was worth it. My favorite sauce is the gochujang (red) and the sesame salt and pepper sauce together. Good with any meat or pancake. The beef bulgogi and pork bulgogi were tasty. Since they recently opened, they're still going through some growing pains. I appreciate the servers cooking the food. Honey Pig was a good experience, but not for me. The meats lacked natural flavor. For example, you buy pork belly at H-Mart and go home to cook it.. Well you wouldn't immediately if at all put salt and pepper on it because that pork belly's fat in oil has flavor. I would be back only out of convenience or if I ever find myself craving Korean BBQ while in Austin. I do believe that San Antonio has one of the best Korean BBQ spots thus far in Texas (I still have to explore Dallas so my statement may change, but for now KG's all the way). I enjoyed the Korean BBQ sides a lot. I also enjoyed the freshness of the prime ribeye - good quality. What I didn't understand was that the staff cooked your meats at your table, for you and your party. That was definitely a first given that we did not order a combo, but did order three different meats (all non-marinated). One thing I found to be super cute were their pictures that displayed pigs in ramen, wearing masks, and being around friends and family. I am so glad that this place opened. I've only heard good things, and I came at the very start of their business very recently, and their quality has been consistent -- VERY GOOD. I grew up in Korea, so I was surprised to see how authentic everything was. The servers cook your meat for you + check up on you very often, the banchan + soup are perfectly seasoned, and there are vegetables on the grill! The meat is high quality and melts in your mouth. If you are unsure of what to get, there are different sets so that you can try a variety of meats. One of the cons of going to a barbeque place is the stench that remains in your clothes. It's winter so I'm wearing thick layers, but you can put those clothes inside the seat! (the top lifts up so that there is a small compartment to put all belongings). The chairs are kind of uncomfortable though. If I ever crave Korean bbq, I will pick this place over any other place in Austin! And I've tried all of them! read more

Grand opening was 4th of July week. The restaurant was clean and already filling tables. Love the hooded vents, great ventilation. We had the lunch special with 2 pork and 2 beef dishes. An order of japchae and seafood tofu soup and fried mandoo. The mandoo was tasty and good flavor. The kitchen and staff are very fast. The tofu soup was good but have had better, and same for the banchan's. My least favorite was the japchae, I think there was too much sesame oil and less flavors of sauce from marinated meat. The grilled meats were tasty, and tender if you ask for the grill to be turned off in a timely manner. Finally came here for lunch on a Sunday. Since we got there at 12pm on a Sunday, there was no wait so we're seated right away. There were many meat options on the menu from sets to el carte. We opted to get the LA kalbi and prime rib since there was only two of us. The banchons I feel weren't as good as other kbbq place I've been to but the kimchi was quite delicious. They also cook the meat for you as opposed to you cooking it yourself. Today's update. 09/23/2023 Saturday 2:57 pm. Chadol (thin sliced beef brisket) was good. Service was a little stumbled, since we didn't have the usual lady server instead, we had a new male one served our table. He was a bit everywhere, but did fulfilled our requests (except the extra garlic). Dapae samgyul (thin sliced pork belly) Was an issue today. As soon as we had first one in the mouth, me and my mother immediately spit it out. Then we called the manager and let her try the other pieces on the grill. The pork meat was definitely had the smell of going off. Since we have to do grocery shopping afterwards, we don't wish to get food poison. So we ask for replace the dish to another chadol. Be aware, try to first meat when it is done cooked without any sauce or seasoning to check the meat quality is fine. If you taste or smell something off, immediately call the server or manager. Came here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday. It does get busy, so I would recommend getting there a bit earlier to put your name down. I'm not sure if they take reservations since I have never tried. Hmart is right next door which is an Asian grocery store that has a food court and some stores if you're looking to kill time. We usually order a la carte to get a mix of both pork and beef. I usually get the LA beef kalbi and the pork kalbi for 2 people with another entree like a soup. It's a gas grill you're sitting around and they bring out the raw meat to cook. The waiters do walk around and help you cook the meat and cut it into smaller pieces so don't worry about knowing when to flip, etc. they also bring out banchan (side dishes) to eat with the food which is very common in Korean cuisine. Usually some marinated cucumbers, fish cakes, kimchi, macaroni salad. Etc. and some dipping sauces for the meat. I recommend asking for ssamjang (soybean dipping paste) which is so good! When you order I think 2 or more meats, it comes with a small tofu stew and steamed eggs. The service here can be hit or miss but most Korean bbq places imo are like that given how busy they are. This is my go to place for Korean bbq up north, but I wish they had charcoal grills for more of an authentic flavor. Highly recommend coming for someone's birthday though since they turn off the lights, give your party glow sticks, birthday person a hat, and then the whole staff and even restaurant start singing happy birthday lol.
