Katie and Shelby did hair and airbrush makeup for a wedding I was in last month and they were AMAZING. They came to us at the hotel right on time and put everyone at ease. Not only did Katie make my short, difficult hair look awesome, she was quick! One bridesmaid had accidentally tanned a temporary tattoo into her arm, which Shelby was able to cover with airbrush, making it completely disappear. Both ladies were fun, easy to work with, and priced very well. Also of note, when additional family members wanted to have hair and makeup done the ladies accommodated as possible, but at a certain point they said, "No. Now it's time to do the bride's hair and makeup", keeping the bride and her mother from having to run that awkward interference. I booked with Wibby and it was honestly the best hair experience i've ever had. I went in there, not knowing exactly what I wanted with Also very damaged hair. I showed her a Pinterest board. She had a great conversation with me before hand and expressed to me that while we can still make my hair look good we need to focus on strength and health and we cut a good amount off and right after she cut it off I can immediately feel the difference after the wash and after the color and after the styling, it looks so good. I had my lip blushing procedure with Gala at Honeycomb Salon last week. This is my second lip blushing procedure (my first one was a year ago) and I flew all the way from New York to see Gala again. I am very particular about people who do any procedures on my face, especially my lips and eyes. Gala is very knowledgeable, professional and skilled in the blushing technique (lips, brows, eyes) and is trained by top tier international permanent make up artists. You can only get this type of service in Europe (or you can also see Gala). More on the lip blushing procedure: First, it took an hour / hour an a half to get the lip shape draw. Gala is a perfectionist and she always makes sure everything is perfect before we start. The actual procedure took about an hour (after the lip shape was drawn and we were both happy with it). Overall process was not very painful and has minimum down time. I went to a birthday party right after my procedure and everyone was complimenting me on my lips. I am one week post procedure and I am absolutely thrilled about my result. I highly recommend Gala to everyone, especially when it comes to permanent or semi permanent make up. It is SO important to make sure the person performing a procedure is not just 'good' but 'perfect'!, especially when it comes to your face!!! I've seen so many butchered permanent make up results on people in the past, it's critical to make sure you find a skilled person. I wish I lived in Louisville or had more time so I could do my brows and eyeliner. I did my eyeliner with Gala last year and I will come back for it again once my current eyeliner fades. Lastly, Gala is very knowledgeable esthetician, so while you get your procedure done you can get a free skin consultation with her and address any of your skin concerns. I always purchase Skin Medica which is a pro skincare line that generally is not sold at regular retailers. Highly recommend it. I would not recommend this salon. I do not plan to return. Unbelievable chunks cut out of my hair and left that way. One area is obviously jagged and uneven. They have a 48 hour satisfaction policy. I do not believe that gives a client enough time to really tell if there is an issue. It's actually very inconvenient to have an issue with your hair. I made an appointment online, or so I thought. It went through like every other time I made an appointment. The day of my appointment, I realized I didn't get any reminder call like normal, so I called the salon before showing up. Good thing I did, because apparently there was a hold on my account for a no show so my appointment didn't go through. I knew about the no show, I had something urgent come up; I saw the charge for the no show fee come through my account as well. Fast forward to now, no one let me know that I had a hold of that my appointment or that the appointment didn't go through, no one can explain why the charge doesn't show as going through on their end, and their response was just "well I can book you now if you want, but you still need to pay the no show fee". Oh my goodness, I think I've found my new hairdresser!! Amy at Honeycomb Salon took the time to listen and understand what I was asking for, and what I didn't want or didn't like, and she was able to relate to my "weak wave" struggles too! She was very personable and friendly, as were the others in the salon, and she paid close attention to make sure I walked out happy with my cut. Also, I just popped in there one day about 2 weeks ago on my way home from work one day, and said to the nice young lady at the desk "please help me find someone who is good at cutting layers!", and she pointed me to Amy and got me booked for my appointment. This is the first and last hair stylist i will ever visit again in my life. This experience traumatized me and i will hold onto it forever. I wish I had read these reviews on yelp before going there. was booked for a balayage with Chelsea. I showed a picture of what I wanted and I basically received the opposite service, highlights on my already light hair. One of the first things I said was that I needed my roots to be blended out. I should have been informed this is a reverse balayage and the necessary adjustments should have been made to satisfy me as the customer and get my hair as close to the image that I showed. I feel like she went in and did whatever she wanted, she gave me highlights and my hair looked nearly the same with some random lightning streaks going up into my very dark roots. She wasted three hours of time making my hair look nearly the same I was just out nearly $300. I called and complained THAT day and I was told I could come back in before I went out of town to fix it if an appointment availability came open. I booked an appointment for 11:30 on Friday, June 28th the day I needed to leave for her to redo what she did. That was the impression i was under. Because I had already paid nearly $300 for something that I 100% did not want. On the 28th she still did not fix my hair to what I wanted and showed her, and then proceeded to tell me that i owe her $300. At that point, I honestly honestly did not even know what to say because no part of me was expecting that. I thought I was there to get a service re-done to meet my expectations that were not met. I honestly felt like there was confrontation and a problem arising due to this serious miscommunication on the stylist and companies part. So I walked out of the salon firstly, to avoid a confrontation with a stylist who was comfortable enough to chase somebody into a parking lot, but also because I was lied to and I absolutely did not have a nearly $600 hair-do on my head, she CHARGED MY CARD $300! I never AUTHORIZED to the salon having my card on file let alone did I ever agree to repaying another $300 to her. This was a service that was absolutely a waste of my time and money. I should've been charged if ANYTHING at all, should have been for the hair product and that is it. But at this point after being chased out of a salon and harassed by a stylist I want my $300 back and honestly I want my $275 back from the initial visit because I am beyond unhappy with just the service alone, let alone the fraudulent behavior that I have dealt with as a result of choosing this stylist. But the salon refuses to satisfy a customer and as a small business they are not running it intelligently ! read more

I love Honeycomb. Honeycomb is actually in a quaint teal house in St Matthews. You walk in the door and greeted with a really fresh, luxurious, cozy ambiance. Think Victorian chairs, modern textured wallpaper, fresh flowers, and barn yard wood. Most days you are also greeted by Wilson, their French Bulldog mascot! He loves a good back scratch. It is all so inviting! I judge a hair cut by how quickly after I start pinning back my bangs. Some places it would just take a few days or a week for me to start pinning them back. With Katie I can get 2-3 months out of my style!! Winner winner! Katie has now been doing my hair for almost a year. She is willing to work off of my Pinterest photos and help me find a way to make the hairstyles I see work for my hair. She also remembers details that we chatted about months later, which makes me feel very valued. I leave the salon feeling like I own the day! read more

My stylist was super sweet! I brought my baby and they were all so kind to her and I and patient. It is super well decorated and welcoming. Their products made my hair feel great and smelled great. The issue I had was that my service was supposed to be around $185. When I booked my appointment online, it said it would be $185. I even specifically called in and asked, because I have long hair, if a full highlight would be $185. I was told yeah, it would be right around that price. Maybe a little more if she had to mix up another bowl or whatever. So I showed her a picture of what I wanted! I'm pretty sure it was hair she had done, they're all super talented! So she went to work, and did a really great job with lightening my hair. I went from like a darker blonde to a lighter blonde. I was super happy with how it turned out. UNTIL IT CAME TIME TO PAY it ended up being $365, before tip. That is almost double what I was told it would be. I am still in shock. That was such a big price difference. I was ready and willing to pay more then some other places for a good job, because I wanted my hair to look good. But I wish they were way more transparent about the price. I came in saying I wanted full highlights, and she charged me for something else, I can't remember the name of it, but essentially charged me to make it super blonde super quick. Phew. After paying for highlights several times and my goal was lighter a toner was put on I left with DARK hair . Shelby is my girl! I love love love Shelby! (they are all awesome, but I have only seen Shelby personally.) My hair always looks and feels amazing. The prices are reasonable. The salon is close to my house and I always am so pleased with the result. I have had extensions, highlights, full color, and cuts. Never have I left upset! This is one of the few salons I have felt able to communicate what I want and the stylist has communicated the realisticness of that goal. I love it here! I made an appointment with this company a good week ahead and confirmed my appointment with them via text 2 days before the appointment. They waited till 1 hour before the appointment and called me and canceled due to a 'scheduling error'. I was told they would reschedule me for a full week later. This is not professional at all, I heard they were one of the best in the city, but I doubt it with this crappy attitude to customers. If I canceled less than 24 hours before my appointment I would have been charged a cancellation fee, they sure didn't offer me any 'gift' for the problems they caused me canceling 1 hour before my appointment. read more

I made an appointment with Amy at Honeycomb last Thursday and asked for a dark, ashy blonde... I left with blue hair. What wasn't blue was white blonde, not even mentioning the large sections of my natural hair color (brunette) that were completely missed in the back. When we realized the blue was not coming out after an attempt at foiling again, she offered me to come back the next day after she called the dye company because she didn't know what else to do to fix it. I feel it is worth noting that not a single other stylist in the salon offered to help her when they saw she had a visibly upset client in her chair with blue hair. After leaving Honeycomb, I stopped at two separate salons to see what could be done that day since I couldn't go to work the next day with blue hair and both were completely shocked at what they saw. The second salon attempted to pull more blue out and also took the pictures for me. Today, Tuesday, I went back to that salon and spent SEVEN hours in the stylist's chair to have the damage fixed and my hair is still white blonde with a few pieces of blue where it did not come out. To say my hair is ruined is a complete understatement. Will never, EVER be back to Honeycomb. Pictures are attached. read more

This place is fabulous! I just had my hair cut, colored, and styled by Shelby and I must say she did an amazing job. I wanted very subtle highlights due to the fact that I've never really dyed my hair before. She also cut and styled it just the way I wanted. I left feeling beautiful! Another stylist, Sarah, has been cutting by husbands hair since we moved here about a year ago. He is VERY picky about who cuts his hair and has been happy he found someone he thinks does a great job every time. All the girls are very friendly and make you feel like a friend more than a client. The salon is beautifully designed and they even have a shop dog, Mr. Wilson, to help greet clients. I highly recommend! read more

I found Honeycomb after moving back to Louisville earlier this year. It took lots of internet searching, several not-great experiences but IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! I love this place, it's cozy but professional, and Katie has given me the best haircut (and color) of my life! I've been twice now, and I'm getting more compliments than ever. I've changed my style up a lot--my hair is mostly straight and fine--but the majority of my 37 years, it's been a dark blond-ish bob. That's still what it is, but it's SO much better. It lays better, I can go longer without washing it, I don't even have to blowdry it for it to look good (that's a first for me). Katie also recommended a root spray product and picked the color for me so it's the perfect match and gets me through longer between appointments without my grays roots make me self-conscious. Katie has an opinion, which I love and need:), but she's willing to work with what you feel like, too. She also seems to be a quick read of people, I felt like she 'gets' me and like I've know her forever.
