It was my first time eating at this restaurant. I ordered the spicy garlic stir fry with grilled chicken. The base of this dish is egg-white noodles. The noodles were under cooked and the chicken didn't taste like it was marinated in the sauce. The vegetables were very crisp and crunchy which was great. I dined in and my order was brought straight to my table, which I appreciated. There was another young lady that cleaned the tables as soon as the guests were finished. Made for a clean and germ free experience. The restaurant decorations were basic. There was ample seating. I would revisit though. I think for me to go to any restaurant the food has to taste good. I've been wanting to try honeygrow and we were able to get it delivered this week (thank you for still being open!!). Their most popular items seem to be salads and stir fry dishes. We got the spicy garlic and sesame garlic with no substitutions or additions. For about $13-14 per dish, I thought it was ok! It reminded me of Mongolian BBQ places, where you choose your protein/veggies and they cook it up with noodles and sauces of your choice. I definitely liked the flavors of the sesame garlic one better than the spicy garlic. I wasn't a fan of all the parsley and bell peppers in the spicy one. And we were able to make about 3 meals out what we ordered. There's quite a bit of noodz in each stir fry. Overall, it's simple and tasty but nothing too special. So I've ordered from here a couple of times & was pleasantly blown away. I love to eat healthy but I hate compromising on taste. With that being said, I'm always a bit reluctant eating at "healthy spots" I was completely blown away by this dish. I always get this dish & it's been consistently amazing. It has a bunch of flavor and lots of veggies which always taste fresh. The crab is FRESH! Honestly, I went to the store to see how they make it so that I can make my own as it's seasonal. Ordering was easy and quick, they had laptops/computers for u to do that. I had the spicy garlic noodles without chicken. Presentation was good and the food smelt really good. However the noodles were under cooked. Super stiff and chewy. Also, there was a very nasty metallic taste to the whole thing. I tasted the pineapple and it was fine, so was the broccoli. However, when i took a bite of an onion, OMG. i almost threw up. I searched up what could possibly make onion taste that way. And this is what i found: Sounds like you may have too much time between cutting them and cooking them. You build your own stir fry bowl on one of their kiosk machines and then wait for your order to be called. Just like all of the other "build your own" food spots, you choose your base carb, protein, vegetables, and sauces. You can completely customize your stir fry. I walked in around 3pm on a Sunday and it was practically empty. I walked around looking for some sort of how to order. I approached the human behind the counter and was directed to order from the computer screen behind me. Is this the world we live in? The menu is on the wall but also on the fancy screen you're tapping. Choose your meal- noodles, salad, or grain bowl? All ingredients are listed on the pre-made selections. I got the Walnut St. Noodle Salad. It comes with arugula, cold buckwheat noodles, Parmesan crisps, raw broccoli, and raw mushrooms. I added chicken for $3.25. The entire thing was dressed with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. Was actually pretty tasty despite the few ingredients and it tasted fresh. Watch the humans behind the counter magically make your order. Grab a water cup and hydrate while you wait. It seemed clean here. The food was fresh. The location is right downtown close to Perelandra (smart move on their part). Download the app on your phone to become even more addicted to technology and detach yourself from all human interaction, you'll save $5 on your first online order. Have been a couple of times. Went last week and everything was great! Designed my own bowl, literally zero complaints. It was at a down time though. Maybe five people in there. Went again tonight and everything was the opposite. It was quite busy but that's the food industry, it gets busy. Designed my own dish again...literally got three of the ingredients I asked for and that includes the rice! 1 of the three vegetables. NONE of the toppings and I'd ordered a third topping which costs money. The little I got was pretty unappetizing. Everything was just mushy and incredibly oily. Isn't this place supposed to be sorta healthy? The customer service is good, I like hearing people laugh and seem like they at least like the people they work with. But it got messy. One person was just not paying attention and knocked over a ton of food that was to be used for peoples dishes. Things went all over the floor, ya gotta laugh though right? Which obviously people did. It's just a mistake! What you don't do is try and fold the food back into the container and leave food on the ground. That is not good. I've passed by this place many times and I finally went in for lunch yesterday. Space seemed very clean and spacious. I came during high lunch time so there was a line of people waiting to pick up their food. Surprisingly, people did not wait for too long. They have a system where you order directly from one of the 4-5 machines lined up. So your main interaction with the staff is really when you have to pick up your food. They also utilize their own app where you pick up your food when it's available. Very popular option here of course during lunch. The philosophy behind their food seems that every ingredient is from a clean and trusted source. Main categories to pick from include a noodle for stir fry , a salad or a yogurt. They have set menu but also a customizable one which I found most appealing. I decided to make my own stir fry with whole wheat noodles, natural chicken, broccoli, mushrooms, red onion and ginger garlic scallion sauce. For $11.89, it came out in a generous portion. The ingredients tasted really fresh and tasty. Even my broccoli was super crunchy. The chicken needed a touch more seasoning in my opinion. I would go for the raised beef next time. But overall, I had a delicious dish for lunch. I would come back to try out more dishes. read more

Just discovered this place recently. I like that you can order from a kiosk (eliminate human errors for orders.) You can customize either a stir fry or a salad or you can order the presets from the menu. After you order and pay through the kiosk a receipt will come out with an order number. I was confused at first because I waited a long time and realized they don't call out the numbers. Instead, there is a flipping number board (like the Harry Potter train board) in the back by the utensils and sauces that will indicate which order numbers are ready. I ordered a custom stir fry. Food was a bit salty but you can customize to get the sauce on the side, which I will probably do next time. It's a great lunch option and they also have a honey bar. I also like that it's near all the workout places (NYSC, yogaworks, soul cycle, etc.) It's a good healthy/quick post workout meal option. read more

I love this place for its vegan options. I will say though that more sauce is needed to accompany the amount of noodles or salad that comes with the dish. I love that I can create my own salad or stir fry and there are a lot of add ins available. I will say that the amount of add ins is on the cheap side. I mostly get tons of salad or noodles but the stuff you choose is on the light side. I always order through Grubhub or directly from the honeygrow app. I should be able to add extra sauce if I want but it's not an option and that is a minus for me. Plus maybe add more vegan protein to the menu, like soy curls or impossible meat. *****UPDATE***** I have ordered several times since this originally posted. As of today, I have had orders that were missing components and I was charged for these add ons. I understand if add ons are not available at times but in that case I want to be refunded. People should take pride in their work ethic, unfortunately not everyone thinks alike and the business suffers due to sloppy employees who don't want to be bothered. Yet another fast casual chain, this one has a number of other locations on the East Coast, this one in Brooklyn being the first NYC store. This one has a long counter when you walk in with workers prepping ingredients and bowls, but it's not in fact Chipotle style where you build your bowl with somebody by steps. Instead, it's one of these places where you can have zero interaction if you choose, by placing your order on one of the self-serve kiosks and then picking up your bowl when your number shows up on the board. The Pastrami Egg Noodle Bowl ($11.45) was surprisingly good for a fast-paced quick service chain. They also have salads and the "honey bar", which has yogurt and fruits you can choose from for dessert. I would definitely return for a salad if I'm trying to not be disgusting or more likely one of the noodle options. read more

Update: I went back to this place twice recently after not going for a while and as its popularity has increased, the quality has gone down unfortunately. So disappointing. Both times the "blackened shrimp" was undercooked, there wasn't enough sauce and it was bland and dry. Really disappointed and I doubt I'll go back :( I love this place so much. Was happy when HG arrived in Brooklyn Heights, since the neighborhood has recently had a surplus of health minded eateries. First two visits consisted of complimentary meals provided to the community therefore was able to go two days in a row and try two different meals with a comp drink. The self-serve kiosks for ordering is great because you get to create the meal your way without interacting with a person. It's amazing how it is a totally self-service experience, except for when you obtain your meal, someone will hand it to you. While you wait there is a old style flap number board that updates every few seconds to display the completed orders. Overall space is neat, clean and open and the condiment section is always fully stocked with all you need to complete your experience. My all time favorite dish is coconut curry vegetable fried noodles, it's so good. If you are in the area and are hungry, definitely give them a try. read more

Good ingredients, terrible execution. This stirfry inspired meal was definitely more visually appealing than not, unfortunately the taste fell VERY short. The ingredients seemed hamfisted together and lacked any "whole" identity. It felt like I was eating a bland salad, picking apart pieces that lacked any relationship to its neighbor. Because it was just thrown on there, my stir fry was heavy on black pepper. It would be a different story if it was the spice because I like spicy... but too much black pepper... no, thanks! Came here not expecting much, but was absolutely blown away. The bowls taste so good!! The egg noodles pair perfectly with the lox and are seasoned to perfection. I tend to be very picky with how my noodles are cooked, and was pleasantly surprised here. It's layered with toppings that provide a nice crunch and great texture. Looks as good as it tastes! On top of the taste, the service here was great. The lines move fairly quickly and wait times were kept at a minimum. I cannot stress enough how much I would LOVE for this place to be located near my office! I was staying in downtown Brooklyn for a conference and needed to grab a quick lunch this past week. I found this place on Yelp and so my boss and I took a stroll to it. They have computer systems that you can walk right up to and pick either one of their per-determined items such as Red Curry Thai or Garlic Chicken or you can build your own. I did my own version of the Red Curry Thai Noodles and a lemonade. I got back to my hotel room and finished the whole thing of noodles surprising even myself. The flavors were so mouthwatering in every bite. If this place was located by my office on the west coast, I would definitely be going at least a couple times a week since they also have salad options. read more

Do you like interacting with humans when you order food? Cool, me neither; I'd much rather customize my order on a nifty touch screen before slowly retreating to my windowless office. At Honeygrow, they definitely have the fast-casual method down; you order through the computer, pay, and then wait while they make your food. I was in and out in 10 minutes when I stopped by, although I came during early evening. I went for a make-your-own stir fry, with egg noodles, sesame garlic, roast chicken, and a few assorted vegetables. If you get a stir fry to go they package it in a Chinese takeout-esque container, which is good in theory but really hard to eat out of in practice. All my vegetables were stuck under the noodles (which had clumped together) and I ended up having to dump it in a bowl rather than eat out of the container itself. But as far as stir frys go, it was pretty delicious. They definitely had a light hand with the toppings and protein (I had maybe 3 pieces of broccoli) and heavy on the noodles, but the flavors were there. They also provide tamari and hoisin sauce at their condiment station, which is great if you need that extra oomph of umami. The portion sizes are a tad on the small side compared to price, but if you're not starving it's still more than enough food. In any case, I'd still come back. It's a really cool concept and while I might skip the stir fry option, their salads look pretty great too. read more

I'm all for fast casual, but wasn't really impressed by Honeygrow. The ordering process was easy enough (there are touch screen machines so you never have to deal with cashiers). Then you go to the back and watch their flipboard for your number. My order took forever to show up (about 10 minutes) and the crowd grew about 12 deep, and when my number as on the board, everyone at the counter was too busy either making orders or on the phone taking delivery orders. Would've been good if they actually labeled the trays so I didn't have to wait for someone to tell me which tray was mine. Anyway, I went with the NY Pastrami stir fry, which was pretty disappointing. The egg noodles were good, but the veggies were kind of lame. Just a crap ton of green beans, and some bell peppers. It was largely brothless too, even though it's listed as having broth. And I thought the sauerkraut would be interesting, but it was unevenly distributed and gave random bites of sour. The pastrami was okay. As sodium filled as you'd expect, and just a few thin slices. More of a gimmick than a well-thought out dish. And for a hair over $12, I expected better. read more
