Venue is hyper-political, which is fine if that's your entertainment and identity, but it's exhausting and inescapable these days when you just wanna escape to fun for one freaking second. A bar that makes their own mead in the premise located on the east side of Williamsburg. They have a good collection of original cocktails and also special cocktails that use their meads in the mix. The paper dagger is a bourbon based drink that has an elevated sweetness from the mead and an appropriate level of sourness from the lemon. They also have their meads by the glass and also a tasting flight with three meads on half pours. Really fun to try and had the staff introduce and guide us to compare different meads they have. read more

I came here for a promotional event and fell in love with the rooftop of the space. The staff was extremely busy so finding a good spot at the bar to order can be quite a feat. Seemingly at the end of the world on Scott Av, likely on the only street in New York to end with a dead end and bridge over an abandoned railway line. We shared a bottle of the dandelion-infused mead - it took a few sips for me to get past the initial vinegar-like sourness, but by the end of the bottle the honey fragrance had won me over. For a snack we had the lovely sourdough loaf with the pungent garlic hummus, and I also had a bottle of the very sweet and unique matte soda to stay hydrated. read more

You are looking at $75 worth of hot pot food, since its $25 per person and we have 3 people. With sliced up vegetables such as potatoes, cabbages and radishes, this amount of food is less than what you can get for $25 at any other hot pot restaurant (99 favor taste has all you can eat for $28 just so you know), and the amount of food is not enough for 1 of us but we are 3 people here. Cheap af ingredients (yep no meat) and stingy quantity. We can't eat bread and it's not subbed by anything. And yes it's 2 eggs cuz "the chef" intended 1 egg to be shared by 2 people. We asked for one more but got declined. Our burner was running really low. But nobody came to check or attend to us. Service was cold. The soup base is made from mead waste. It's hard to drink and is not tasty at all. I admired their confidence to serve this at this price point. Heartless. After tax and tips, this $75 of food ended up being close to $100. No one else at the place (just opened), so was able to get a seat under the warm heat lamp. Menu has a lot of drink options, especially from the connected meadery. Decided instead on the Hot Cider Toddy ($12) to go along with a Mushroom Tostada ($7). Toddy isn't too bad, more strong than sweet, but did warm us up a bit from the cold. Tostada is fairly small - a crunchy tortilla topped with mushrooms, aioli, and seeds. Very earthy flavor overall that was okay to eat. Service here was quick as we were the only ones around. Not a huge place but they have tiny books you can sit around as a small group and then bar was beautiful. Thoughtful mixologists that were as knowledgeable as they were passionate about introducing us to mead. So what is mead? It is an alcohol fermented by honey. We were introduced to taste 3-4 different types of mead, one of which he described as perfumey. And voila, that explains the lavender! Unfortunately mead was not really my thing, so I ending up with a kombucha/vodka drink from one of their cocktail specials. The "cocktail" came out in a can, which is why I took off one star, wish you'd tell me, friendly mixologist. Honey's is a quirky little bar tucked away in a corner of Bushwick. Kudos for making me feel as if I was in the New York of my youth, walking past deserted, graffiti-covered buildings to find my random destination--it's been a while since I had experienced that. Bar itself is cool--found it to be a fun scene if a touch loud--then again, I'm probably a bit older than your target Bushwick crowd, so take that with a grain of salt. Charming and interesting decor, fit well into the industrial area it inhabits. Mixed drinks were fine--nothing special, but a drinkable G&T. The beer and scotch/bourbon selections were disappointingly slim. Popped in after a concert for a couple of drinks--only realizing now that mead is its selling point--so it's not just a clever name, eh? Wish I realized that earlier, but my bad. Fun place to hang and blast some favorite tunes and dance and get drunk with your friends. More for letting loose and throwing back a few (or apparently for mead fans) than for savoring tasty drinks or well-crafted traditional cocktails. Came here after a show with a couple of friends for a drink or two. There's not much seatings so we all had to stand... also, they really should put a sign for the door leading down to the kitchen because their staffs are constantly going in and out opening the door but it literally camouflages in with the counter. What if you put a drink on there and it spills because you don't notice the door? Hazard! I tried the Orion which doesn't taste like an IPA at all. Tastes more like seltzer water so it's great if you don't like IPAs and still want a light beer. Food smelled amazing even though we didn't order any. Would be down to come back and try this. *COVID note: Honey's has a great outdoor seating area that is ACTUALLY outdoors, not just a smaller version of indoor dining like some other places are doing. They have heat lamps that keep things nice and comfortable! The mead here is well worth trying; I've never had anything like it anywhere else! The black currant is like a rich, sort of sour wine. All of the mead flavors are a little sour so keep that in mind in case you prefer things more sweet. They also have beers and cocktails; the yola quarantina is strong and and fruity. I came by with a friend who was visiting from upstate. I honestly had no intention of going to a bar but my friend was in town and wanted to get a few drinks, so why not? Great decision! It can get packed pretty quick but the crowd is chill and the bartenders, especially Ociel (he deserves a raise the way he restocks is insane, but hey must mean business is good!), made an amazing whiskey sour. My partner and I went here today. Let me start by saying the tasting room and location were really neat, and our service was pretty great. It was really cute and definitely someplace I'd go to casually hang around with some people over some drinks and food. On those things alone, I think the place could be worth a stop. On the mead front, I did have some reservations. My partner and I have frequented a fair number of meaderies together, and we also homebrew our own. From a variety perspective, I think Honey's had some really unique kinds that were different from anything we've had before and could not get elsewhere. But that's where things get a bit finicky. We tried four drinks-- the Dagger, the Nought, their cider, and their aged sour mead. The flavors were generally good, but also a bit pricey. For the Dagger, you pay the same price as some of the other meads but get a hard liquor pour at a normal mead strength. It's good if you want to really savor it, but probably not something for the casual mead drinker since it did seem quite pricey for what you actually get. The cider and Nought seemed a bit more reasonable for what you pay for and tasted fine. With the aged sour though, I was actually a fair bit irritated. The flavor was okay, but I was given the very end of the bottle that was kicked up with a fair bit of sediment. As somehow who homebrews myself, I understand that this happens sometimes after bottling. But I was particularly annoyed given that the server saw the sediment after taking the mostly empty bottle out, proceeded to swirl it around so it wouldn't be as noticeable, and then dumped it in the glass that then ended up being slightly under filled since there wasn't that much left in the bottle. This is why I'd give 3 stars over 4, as I do think the meads were generally tasty and something that could be savored; but I wasn't a fan of what happened with the final glass. read more

Honey's is a truly special place, particularly if you have any interest in natural fermentation (is that a weird thing to say?). I'm not a fan of "conventional" meads but both the St. Crimson and Nought are more on the dry/tart side and were very enjoyable. FYI: Memento Mori, the dandelion-infused mead, is the sweetest, most "honey-forward" drink of theirs if that's more your thing. Super-friendly and helpful staff, managing COVID risk well despite how busy it gets (truly outdoor seating with well spaced-apart tables, and there's even a separate entrance to the interior for customers looking to use the bathroom). We were looking to try the popcorn but the popcorn machine was broken that day unfortunately. They offered the bread and hummus instead and it was delicious - garlicky, creamy, and the perfect accompaniment to the rustic bread. I've gone to Honey's once in the past for an Elite event and loved it then. This time it was a cold and dreary Memorial Day Weekend when we dragged ourselves into Honey's. We were the only ones there for about an hour or so where we were interacting with staff on and off. We tried a few wines and made our way to the next spot. Excellent mead bar that's a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Avant Gardener (I see you, you party animals). We got there around midnight on a Saturday, and the place was packed. Took about ~20 mins for us to get the bartender's attention to order, but when the bottle of mead came out, BOY was the wait worth it. We ordered a bottle of the "Nought" - a raw wild mead that tasted like a funky orange wine. If you're into natural wines that are on the fermented/funky side, then this is your bread and butter. The space was pretty cool, with the exception of a remarkably poor counter design across from the bar. Part of a counter was attached to a door that swung open ever so often, resulting in a rousing "Opaaa!" as the glasses on the counter fell on the floor and shattered. Not sure who okay'ed that design choice, but I hope they fix it soon as it can probably get a bit dangerous as the nights get rowdier. I'd definitely go back to try their food and the other meads, and hopefully not step on glass next time (lol). read more

Shabby chic I stopped here on the way to dinner and I was very impressed. The layout of the bar is so simple yet so elegant. This place seems perfect for a first date or meeting some friends for a few drinks. The place is on the small side but there were only a handful of people during my visit (a Wednesday night). My martini was perfectly concocted with the correct number of olives. All in all, I would revisit this bar if I am in the neighborhood. read more

New spot opened in bushwick. And it's really, really good. Very trendy and unpretentious, this place is great for groups (not the loud obnoxious ones) and especially for dates. Great cocktails, and very original with their mead selection - wine of the gods! Bartender was very chill and made a strong drink. While a bit more of a classier feel, they balanced it out nicely with the best popcorn ever. Also, cinderblock seating is a nice touch. Highly recommend. You'll enjoy it. read more

I'm torn because on one hand this place is dope. Live music, funky drinks, and decent food options all made for a half of a good experience. On the other hand, the lack of servers, clean tables, and just the general vibe of it being super busy with only one person working made for just an OK experience. I came to Honey's with a friend on a Thursday evening. The indoor bar area is modest, with some booth and bar seating to accommodate people. When we arrived we struggled to get the attention of the sole bartender. Once we did we placed our order and witnessed as she forgot one of our drinks and proceeded to take the next order. We waited several minutes before reminding her for which she apologized and speedily made it then and there. There was no seating inside so we opted for a table they had in front of their bar. It was a covered seating but there were tables and chairs strewn everywhere with no organization. Some were stacked, other spots only had chairs, it wasn't ideal. The drinks were great but this spot could have been even been better with more consideration of the space from the staff. read more

We had the hot pot and a couple glasses of mead. First off, the mead comes in small cocktail glasses and costs $13-$14. I've been to meaderies that cost half that for more than twice the amount given. But the worst part was the hot pot. It cost $25 a person (we were 3 people) and the portion was ridiculously small. And all the items given were cheap vegetables. The starch was a sliced potato and the protein was 2 eggs for the 3 of us. We asked for another egg and were denied. I've never tried mead before and I was a little hesitant (I thought it would be syrupy sweet and cloying) but it blew my mind. SO GOOD. I believe they have 4 or 5 that they brew (is that the correct term?) at Honey's and the bartender was a sweetheart and let me try a sip of each before letting me choose. Delicious. So good that I didn't even try their happy hour specials (5pm-8pm, $3 off cocktails).  The space is gorgeous as well, very bright and open with cute little tables. This would make an amazing date spot or a pre-Elsewhere drinkfest and there's a Vietnamese restaurant next door. It's a little bit out of the way but I think that adds to the charm.  I believe they serve small bites or snacks but I didn't try any; I'd be down to try some of their bites next time I come, it seemed so well curated! If not for the persistence of some new friends last weekend, I may have never found Honey's because of its unassuming exterior and industrial neighborhood surroundings. That being said, this place is super cool and I'll definitely be back. When we first arrived, I was a bit skeptical because this bar is surrounded by warehouses and there aren't any other businesses in the immediate vicinity. But upon stepping inside, it felt like we entered this exclusive party. The bar had a really stylish decor, and specializes in wine and meads. While we drank at the bar, there was a window into the tasting room where they make the wine, and there was literally a dance party going on inside. All of the drinks were reasonably priced - I think my glass of mead was only $6 or $7. The bartenders were really friendly and knowledgeable, and it felt like I entered one of the best kept secrets in Brooklyn. read more

Spent Friday evening at Honey's. A cool bar serving up mead, which is quite unique, but I just wasn't crazy about the options or the prices. Quality: Honey's is a cocktail bar and meadery found in Brooklyn. I was excited about trying some different meads and made my way through the menu. Pink Is Punk "PIP" a raspberry mead was my highlight. Sour and fruity, but not overly sweet, it is a good introduction to meads. Dagger, a cherry mead, and St. Crimson, a black currant mead, were both okay as well. I was not a fan of Floralia, a dry botanical mead, which was loaded with lavender and juniper. And I couldn't drink more than a sip of Memento Mori, a dandelion mead. Both of these floral meads were like drinking an air freshener. Quantity: The pours of mead are a little less than a glass of wine. Value: $10-16 for a Glass of Mead. Ambiance: Honey's is located in Bushwick. It is a few blocks away from the concentration of bars near Jefferson Street. When you enter the downstairs space has a very industrial chic look. Lots of concrete and dim lighting. The bar is on the left wall, and some tables wrap around the far wall. Behind the bar is a window into the operation behind it. You can take an even closer look by climbing the stairs to the roof, which brings you through the barrel room. The roof is a nice space to relax and look out over the city. A garden sits next to the deck and on this evening they had a DJ set up. However, the reggaeton and hip-hop music selection did not seem right for the crowd. Crowd: Popular spot on Friday night. The summer breeze made the rooftop a desirable place to be. Service: Friendly bartenders, but a little slow composing drinks. Parking: Street parking is relatively easy to find around the bar. read more

My friend and I came by on a sunday night.. AND.. they were showing the GOT season opener!!!! We got to see the 10pm viewing and it was just us two and their huge projector. The team behind Honey's disrespects their clients. After announcing an event that promotes Russian propagandist ideology, their team then proceeded to ignore Ukrainians who expressed frustration with several aspects of the event. Many hours of discussion later, Honey's bowed to the pressure only to issue an apology that discounts any good-will they had with the Ukrainian community. They shadily edited the description of the event without acknowledging it was problematic in the first place, then flip-flopped to make the event sound educational while never exhibiting desire to listen and support the Ukrainian people in their struggle for recognition.
