Pub vibes night at a Makgeolli bar. Always a soju fan but have to give a chance to another popular Korean pub drink. Buying by the bottle is great but this place brews real Makgeolli. Right by the water in Greenpoint Brooklyn so it's a bit further walk from the subway. Despite this, Hana is popular and can be challenging to get seats especially on a Friday night. Reservations are highly recommended. Only open for 3 days, so Saturdays and Sundays, best to enjoy the daytime peaceful speakeasy aesthetic vibes. Daytime vibes here is peaceful and volume level is for soft spoken customers. Night vibes is when I've tried is more relaxed, decent sound level pop music and more lax after a long work day. The bartenders were very great attending to mine and my Brooklyn loyal local on what to try. Based on our tastes, they recommended a good hard Makgeolli brew or with a cloudy dessert Makgeolli drink. Pub food portions are giant with variations of scallion pancakes, bulgogi bites and Mac and cheese fried tenders. Would get the Makgeolli flights after a non-busy work night. And make sure to give the time to savor each selection. Good pit stop and great for drivers to try out.

As the only makgeolli brewery in the US, this spot offers some amazing Korean rice wine. They have a variety of different makgeolli options, such as ones made with black rice or even cherry-infused ones. The staff is super friendly and nice and the ambiance here is perfect for a date night. They also have some food options to enjoy with your drink!

Absolutely loved this place. Makgeoli flight was super good. Great ambiance and service was good. Fair prices as well. More in an industrial area away from main green point.

Hana has been on my list for ages. Tucked away in an industrial quieter area of Greenpoint. The vibe is chill and cool. Opted for the Hana set which came with the pancake, the dubu kimchi with pork belly, and a carafe of makgeolli. This was such a good deal for $60. Both dishes were pretty good. The makgeolli was kinda sour but still refreshing. Also tried out a bunch of other makgeolli. I liked the filtered one which was akin to wine Overall a cute spot perfect for hanging out with friends or for a date. Fun since you can try out a bunch of makgeolli. Kinda wish they had more food options though.

I was so excited to try this place because it's been years since I've had good Makgeolli outside of South Korea. However, I was disappointed because as the waitress explained, they have a modern twist on the drinks and it's also on the drier side. Of the 6 we were able to try, none stood out for us and we couldn't finish it - mainly due to not liking the taste. As for the food - they came out fast and delicious. Highly recommend the fried mushrooms!

This is a neighborhood treasure! If you find yourself in Greenpoint, I wouldn't miss it. It's tucked away between some warehouses but worth the trip there! Alice, the founder, is the nicest. The ambiance there felt like one big family. Drinks: They specialize in makgeolli and the staff are very well-versed in it. Definitely get the flight to try and then pick the one you like most to get a carafe of. The ceramics they are served from are also beautiful and really enhances the tasting experience. Food: Amazing food for a bar/brewery, they give the Korean restaurants in the city a real run for their money. Even without the makgeolli, they could be a successful restaurant. Definitely get the bossam, it's delicious and the quantity is very generous. The pajeon is sooo crispy, which most restaurants fail to achieve, but they made it so effortlessly. Truly one of the best pajeon's ever in terms of texture! Their kimchi is a must as an accompaniment to the meal. Every restaurant has their own kimchi recipe and I think it really showcases how well they understand flavor profiles. It's a perfect match to pair with the makgeolli.

Came here a few months ago with a group of friends and we had a good time! We tried a few different types of makgeolli and some of the food. I wish they had a few more small bite options but great ambiance and service!

overall, the spot is very cute and has cozy vibes! the server was very kind and personable. she was flexible with our menu options which was super nice. the food was all pretty good, i really enjoyed it (maybe the chicken was my least favorite only bc personally i don't enjoy a sweeter taste on my food). the makgeolli was a little on the sour side for my taste but all still pretty good! i don't think i've tried makgeolli enough to know how traditional or modern it was, but we had a great time anyways and everything was all pretty good!

I don't think I've been to a makgeolli bar before, so this was a fun and unique experience! We enjoyed the flight tastings, and I loved the sweeter cocktail called Sujeonggwa. The pajeon (vegetable pancake) is darker and crispier than expected, but was good bar food paired with the drinks. There are only a few tables and a small bar area, so this spot is probably more manageable for smaller groups (though we did see one larger group of 6). Definitely make reservations if possible!

Really great ambiance that's conducive to hanging out with friends. Makgeolli tasted quite authentic, here's what we got: -Sesame Sour (5/5): my favorite drink by far. Super light and refreshing, deceiving strong -Banana Milk (4/5): reminiscent of banana milk, this drink has no dairy and it on the sweeter side. more of a dessert cocktail -Tasting flight (4/5): super fun to sample all the makgeollis; tasted very fresh, pretty strong -Anju Board (4/5): a bit on the small side, but really yummy accompaniments to the alcohol -Pajeon (4/5): by this point we were blasted, so the pa jeon hit. The pa jeon is super crisp and the chunks of scallion are very large. A bit oily but very flavorful, very good if you are feeling the alcohol Service was pretty good! We showed up late and they were able to accommodate us for nearly 2 hours. Would recommend to go in a group to try as many drinks as possible!

Fried mushrooms were bomb!!! The drinks weren't my favorite as they are pretty strong and the texture does get pretty thick, but it was fun to try! Space is extremely nice and waiters are attentive and helpful! Do recommend coming :)

Is this place considered Brooklyn even though I, who originally started from Brooklyn, have to take the train to Manhattan and then take the 7 train (typically a Queens train) to get here? We had to walk on the Pulaski Bridge too (which is a pretty sight at night). For my fellow directionally challenged friends, I highly recommend using Apple Maps so they give you a step-by-step walking guide to when you're supposed to get off the bridge Besides the walking adventure, this is a pretty quaint place in a very quiet neighborhood. It seems like there's nothing open at this time around here besides this neon lit industrial styled bar. I remembered reading a negative review about the pajeon but I actually found it to be good - it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also ordered the takju carafe and we had mixed opinions on it but we still liked it. I would definitely come back here to try their sikhye cocktail since I had missed my chance to do so this time.

Super cool spot with a unique vibe and delicious different makkgeoli to try. I didn't love the location cos it was a bit further out from the usual Greenpoint restaurants, but still super cool! - @nyconthetable

We learned where they were sourced and how the flavors were informed by the environment. We were also walked through the process of tasting the wine and some unique tips on analyzing the flavor profile. After the tasting and tour we had the option of purchasing a bottle of wine at a discount. I left with the Barbera - excited to try! Justin created a very easeful environment which encouraged community, open dialogue and laughter. No fluff here! It was definitely an educational experience. The easy going and kind nature of the staff definitely influenced the ambiance. I came with one friend and left with four new ones! And the space is breathtaking - lots of light and free flowing air. After the wine tour which definitely left us tipsy, we got a table and enjoyed more wine and a few plates. The food was mouth watering good. The pick three option was certainly a good portion to share but I ended up divulging in the entire thing. I definitely reset my flavor palette with this meal. I hope to return here someday but in the meantime I'll be promoting by word of mouth!
