I am not a fan of buffets to begin with but it was someone else's dime ... who loves Chinese buffets ... but this was the worst I've ever been to and I ate very little out of fear of getting sick honestly. Walking in the place looked uncared for. Outdated and lackluster and vacuums and what not strewn about. It was very off putting and not how I would personally present my restaurant, even if I could not afford an update. The food options were limited for a buffet, which would be great if it meant excellent quality as a result. But that was not the case. There were 0 Chinese donuts the whole time ... just an empty tin of sugar. The sauced chickens were so gooey it was off-putting. The rice was in steamers but the spoons to scoop them out were covered in dried rice and dried vegetable from the fired rice which was also gross. The sweet and sour sauce had a weird film. The chicken for it was like warm. Same with the egg roll. I barely ate as I was afraid of food poisoning and just grossed out. I'm giving an extra star for keeping our soda filled and being nice people but this buffet is struggling and I would decline any future invite here, even on someone else's dime. Also on the fact the person who wanted this food didn't complain about a single thing except the lack of donuts. To each their own I guess! read more

I see lots of mixed reviews about this place on here but I feel like this is a solid Chinese buffet/ take out restaurant. It wasn't too busy in there but it had just enough people that it wasn't dead (@5 PM). It's small with just a few bays of food. They had vegetable lo mein, white rice, vegetable fried rice, vegetable egg rolls, general Tso chicken, honey chicken... all the typical stuff. The service is good - they cleaned up our plates quickly and got our drinks right away. Typical and adequate for what you need at a buffet. The food tasted good to me and I enjoyed it. I think it's worth it for the reasonable price - you get what you pay for. read more

The people were nice. The broccoli and beef, and broccoli and chicken or tasty and fresh. The wings tasted like they had been frozen too long. The spring rolls and egg rolls were pretty much tasteless. They do not have fresh hot mustard, it's only in packets. They're hot tea is from a teabag. I won't go back there again. My husband had lunch here the other day, and wanted all of us to give it a try last night. It's a small restaurant with a small selection, but it's clean, service is good and the food is warm and fresh. They only had three chicken dishes. My husband does not care for their General Tso's, but he loves the crispy honey chicken. I love the creamy coconut chicken. The sauce is very similar to my beloved coconut shrimp I have yet to find in WNY. The crab rangoon comes in the form of little bite sized purses, and it's very creamy and even a little sweet. That, and the creamy coconut chicken is enough to make me happy to come back. My husband loves their green beans. They were very fresh and green. There's also mandarin oranges, peaches and salad. As for dessert, naturally there's jello, and also pudding. The cream puffs are very good. The chocolate coffee cake has good frosting, but it's normal chocolate cake instead of the more spongy cake I expect at a Chinese buffet. The fried dough is warm, light and fluffy. There's a handy soft serve machine for those of you who don't like dishing ice cream. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We'll be back. read more

We've been going to Hong Kong Buffet for about 10 years now; they've had changes in staff of course, but the food remains good. We especially like the won ton soup; it's the best in the area. Other restaurants' won tons are so thick they seem like big ol' dough-wads plopped in weak broth. HK Buffet's are much more delicate...like the filling is cradled in butterfly wings of...wait, that analogy kinda went off track. Anyway, their soup is great. The rest of the buffet is pretty darn good, too, otherwise we wouldn't keep going back; there are too many other options in this area to waste time. It would be nice if they replaced the weird breakfast food picture over the salad bar; it contains food no Westerner can readily identify as breakfast fare, and the color is fading fast, which doesn't help. And the huge waterfall-motion picture has lost some of its oomph, but it's part of the ambiance, and so it must stay. I'm going off-track again. Anyway, Hong Kong Buffet is a great place to eat if you're looking for a good, solid selection of yummy Asian food. We go there, and we're picky. Soooo picky. read more

I'm happy to report that the buffet has reopened! After a long shutdown period where they were doing "take out" only, the buffet reopened on September 1st and I made my first visit today and it was a great homecoming. The buffet tables were piled high with fresh dishes, the place had a fresh and clean look, the servers were extremely friendly and the food was delish! I enjoyed the pepper steak, black pepper chicken, salt & pepper shrimp, breaded shrimp, teriyaki ribs (which were fall off the bone perfect) and all were top-notch. Selections were refilled often and from the piled-high plates and frequent trips for refills of my fellow diners, all were in agreement that everything was good. The only minus was that they do not have ice cream for dessert, but in a way that was good, because I then decided that if there was no ice cream to enjoy it with, I would forego eating way too many squares of the layer cake than I need . . . so I only had four. The dessert section was otherwise well-stocked with all of the usual selections and again, everything looked fresh and was fully stocked. I'm a very happy camper knowing my "go-to" buffet place is back and as good, if not better, than ever. read more

King Kong! I cant say enough about Hong Kong Buffet. Not only do they have alot of food, but chopsticks! It would be nice if they had some more American food like spagetti and tacos and than it would be more like a real buffet. It would be nice to if the people working their spoke more American. Is it fancy? No. Is the buffet selection expansive? No. Is the food good? Yes. Is it affordable? Yes. Does anything else matter? That's relative. Unfortunately, there really aren't a lot of Chinese food options in the Lockport area. This location is close to us and we had a hankering for Chinese food, so we gave it a try. Like I said above, it's not fancy, but it was surprisingly good given some of the poor reviews. I've been to buffets that seemed to have endless selections, islands upon islands of heaping piles of foods. The selection here is more quaint, but you will still find the obligatory wonton soup, sweet & sour chicken, lo mein, general tso's, chicken skewers, green beans, and those heavenly sugared doughnuts. Of course there is much more, but does anyone actually eat the other stuff? My son was watching the empty pizza tray like a hawk, but unfortunately it was never restocked before we left. He was quite disappointed. The rest of the food was well-stocked, warm, and tasted great! The honey chicken was delicious. I went back for seconds on that one, and I rarely pick up the same thing twice. I will note that I typically eat a plant-based diet, but I happily cheat once in awhile. Even so, there are plenty of plant-based (vegan) options to choose from here. The soft serve machine is the last stop in the buffet line for me. It was the perfect ending for this meal, aside from the complimentary fortune cookie, of course. Our plates were cleared quickly after each round and our drinks were refilled attentively. All said and done, we were expecting the bill to to total $10+ more than it actually was. It was a pleasant surprise that we fed two adults and a child at a buffet for under $30. I have to add this part of our experience: A lady seated by us with her (husband/boyfriend?) and small children walked around the entire buffet several times awkwardly chit chatting with strangers, telling them that she hates Chinese food and was only there to feed her family, then she was charged full price for eating "three pieces of broccoli". She made a big scene over it. If you sit down at a buffet restaurant and are seen eating the food, expect to be charged, yes, even over "three pieces of broccoli". I thought it was hilarious. But her foul language and attitude got unpleasant very fast. Just do your thing, get your food, enjoy it and leave happy! :) read more

It use to be better, now it's under new ownership and it's how you'd imagine a Chinese buffet in Western NY. All that it has going for it is that the service is good and they're quick to get the plates off of your table. Take out is a hit or miss depending on what you get, they aren't the best at circulating for buffet food and it ends up being old and warm at best, and you'll probably have to wait awhile for certain dishes. It's not bad enough to keep us from coming back, we love Chinese food and it's the best Chinese restaurant in Lockport unfortunately so we come pretty often. read more

This place is one of the only decent Chinese buffets still around. Sometimes you just get in the mood for Chinese. Looks like they may be going through a remodel the restaurant had new carpet, chairs and tables. They have a lot of offerings to choose from and the food is hot and always stocked. You can pick and choose what you want and can have anything or everything. The staff is great about clearing your dishes and making sure you have enough to drink. This is a very tasty buffet! And it's comveniently located. I often stop by Big Lots before going to the buffet. Yes - before! You'll be too full to go afterwards! The service is friendly. My drink is always promptly refilled. And they serve Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist too. Most places just serve Pepsi or Coke. My usually drink here is a Diet Pepsi, by the way. It's an all you can eat buffet, so you can take as many plates as you want. And the plates are clean. They don't even have any water-stains. I don't know what happened to this place. My family and I are here at about 630pm,and the food was awful. Everything was dried out or old. My youngest likes the pizza, normally, but it was dried out badly. The Rangoon and potstickers were hard. The lo-mein was dark and starting to get crispy. Don't even get me started on the "coconut chicken". I'm guessing, what could only be sugar, was clumped up in the bottom of the hard chicken. Needless to say, we're not returning there. I will not go back. Typically, I enjoy the vast variety of flavors offered at buffets. But this buffet was mediocre at best and pricey for what's offered. Every single dish offered was lukewarm, nothing was hot - pork, shrimp, crab, beef, chicken, nothing. This buffet was also much smaller than expected - only 2 serving stations plus a very small one for second-rate, room-temperature cucumber salad and a few tasteless desserts. I expected diverse flavors for each dish, but the flavors all melded together. None of the dishes had distinct zesty seasonings at all. Entrees intended to be served chilled were lukewarm; dishes intended to be served hot were tepid. And each time I went back to a station, one of the staff members literally followed me and stood close by, less than 2 feet away, as I chose what to try next -- extremely uncomfortable. My beverage was never refilled. Additional napkins were non-existent. Silverware was spotty. I do not recommend this restaurant at all and I will certainly not be going back. read more

The food is great if you go early, the latest I suggest is 7, no later. I understand that you don't want to make more food the later it gets to be wasted but, besides that little issue with the freshness it's great. I understand people say the staff isn't friendly but hey, they're there to make food and make sure the joint is clean, your job is to eat not worry about what they're doing. Yuck! Never eating there again!!! Grossest food I ever had! First off we had a family of 8 including 3 children and we asked for 2 tables pushed together so that we could all eat together- NO! They couldn't do that, must of been to much work. We ate at 2 separate tables- not even side by side to each other. The food was not good at all- they had 3 dishes that were broccoli and chicken- 3! The egg drop soup was bottom of the barrel and the worst I ever had. The sushi was not even edible, I think it has been out for a week and it was a dark brown color. Went there for the buffet for dinner. The service was polite, and the food was good. The cook from the back came out and checked on the dishes, making sure everything looked good and that there was nothing running low. Had a good variety, satisfied my need to try a little of everything. A meal for two including drinks rang up to $21. I've been going to Hong Kong Buffet for years, since I was a kid. It's always been pretty good standard fare Chinese with decent variety. It was my family's go-to place. But lately something has changed. All of the staff is different and all of the food is suddenly lacking in quality and flavor. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was an off day. But in a few trips since then it has only gotten worse. What used to be my staple choices are now inedible and bland. Even the lo mein tastes of nothing and has a weird texture. This place was just a waste of time and money, We were only there for maybe 10 mins and cost us 23.00. We couldnt eat anything cuz everything was cold the manager was rude when we complained saying that well we close in an hr so things need to cool down. I haven't been here in years, and when I thought they couldn't get any worse, I stand corrected. If you want early onset diabetes this is the place to go. They drown most of the foods with high fructose corn syrup, or some other sugar syrup. They obviously do this, because us fat, unhealthy Americans love sugar, and are addicted to it. Plus it covers up the horrible taste of their foods. Is there really any difference between General Zhao's, Coconut, Sweet & Sour, Pepper Chicken? It's hard to tell since they are so drowned in sugar it's hard to actually taste the food. Everything else is way over cooked, stale, dry, and tasteless. Anything else they cover in cheese like the crappy imitation crab, and mussels, because they can't rely on its own taste and spices. Usually a red flag. The only thing that was half way decent was the Sweet & Sour soup. The pop was good. LOL Even the flatware was cheap. It's certainly NOT silverware like one reviewer said. What restaurant uses real silverware? I don't expect that, but better than just one step up from plastic flatware. I was afraid of breaking it. This has to be the unhealthiest food in Lockport. Plus you can easily look around at the clientele, and they are all low brow, and obese. Obviously even somewhat health conscious people won't eat here. At one time there was some value to this place, because it is the cheapest place in town, but is it really worth it for a little over $11 a plate for tasteless meat with sugar syrup poured on top? In my opinion, NO WAY! Pay a couple extra bucks, and go to Country Buffet. Who are the people actually giving this place 5 or 4 stars. Actually the people I just described. Why do all these Chinese Buffets close down? Because they get worse, and worse, so bad that even the low brow people stop going. Food quality goes down, and price goes up. We use to have three Chinese Buffets in this little city at the same time. Where are they now? One reviewer said it's the best Chinese buffet still around? Still around? There are none! After trying a little of everything that I picked out I was disgusted, and left most of it for the garbage. The hot and sour soup looked good so I went to try it out, first spoonful I spit it back into the bowl. It tasted like dirty mushrooms, I made it to the bathroom and threw up everything! After telling the hostess, some guy came out to defend their food and offered me the number to the health department and took $5.00 off the bill after I asked him to take one of the 3 meals off the bill.
