I have given this place 3 times. The food is absolutely garbage. Anyone saying this is good has numb taste buds. There are no good Chinese food places in Bluffton or Hilton Head. I can't say enough about the incredible experience my family and I had at Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant on Christmas Eve. As a Jewish family looking for a traditional Christmas meal, we were warmly welcomed and treated like royalty. The ambiance was cozy and festive, making it feel like the perfect spot for a holiday dinner. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely outstanding. We ordered a variety of dishes--everything from boneless pork ribs and sweet and sour pork to egg rolls and wonton soup. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The standout for us was the seseame chicken--it was the perfect balance of crispy and tender with just the right amount of sauce. The restaurant was bustling with fellow diners, many of whom we could tell were also enjoying their own holiday meals. It was such a heartwarming, community-driven atmosphere, and the food was the star of the show. Food feedback: on the positive side, I got the chicken and broccoli and added cashews, my husband got Hunan chicken. Those two dishes were very good and the portions quite large. Could easy feed four people. On the bad side,the spring roll was greasy and the dumplings were huge and not very good. We each ate one and tossed the rest But what probably bothered me the most was as I'm leaving I asked if they had the crunchy noodles. He looked at the receipt and said "you didn't order anything that gets those". Seriously? I had it at a friends house. I only asked where he bought it, after I tried a plate. It's a combination of using bad ingredients, wrong ingredients and staff who don't know how to cook unauthentic or authentic Chinese. It's a taste of chemicals, grease and undetermined ingredients. We ordered take out the other night for the first time. The guy who answered the phone & took my order was a little grumpy and curt when I asked questions about how they prepare a certain dish. But I know there can be lots of variations of how things are prepared depending on where people originated from. So I always ask. He answered my questions but didn't seem too happy about it. So, anyway, I placed our order...Kung Pao Chicken for hubs and Chicken with mixed veggies for me. We both got white rice and egg rolls. Overall the food was a-ok but nothing outstanding. Definitely your stereotypical shopping center Chinese take out place. So, I tasted hubs Kung Pao and it was decent but just not prepared the way I like it. I would not order it here. My chicken w/mixed veggies was tasty and had plenty of chicken along with broccoli, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, snow peas (plus one other veggie which I can't remember) cooked in a brown sauce. The egg rolls have no meat in them, which is fine. I do wish they would have put some duck sauce in the bag though because that is what I like on my egg rolls instead of mustard. The portion size is huge and prices very reasonable. I would eat here again if circumstances warranted. However, this is not my favorite Chinese takeout in the area. read more

I was in the area and even with the low rating figured I'd give it a try here because there isn't much for Asian food in the area. I ordered the L18 the boneless spare rib and fried rice to go with a wonton soup. When I opens the L18 up it doesn't look bad little light on the spare ribs but it is off the lunch menu. The boneless ribs didn't taste bad but wasn't all that great. The fried rice had little to no flavor. The wonton soup was ok but the somehow the wontons seemed under cooked. Damn I really wanted this place to be good but it wasn't even close. Guess I'll try another place in the area. read more

Once a year I get a yen for Chinese food. The one in okatie (by Food Lion) is lousy, so today I tried HONG KONG on Buckwalter, next to Publix. Pork lo mein was pretty good, but a little bit on the dry side. Pork fried rice tasted like it was made last week, dry and gritty , almost like it had sawdust in it. Pork with Chinese vegetables sucked. Who knew the only vegetables they could find were rock hard carrots and cabbage strips ( I think). Chinese take out is the first thing northerners miss most from anywhere but here. The takeout boxes are the same, but was goes is from Hungarian or Patagonia. My wok expertise blows this place away. This is as close to NY Chinese food that I have had in the South. The menu is very good Asian fare with ease of ordering. the vegetables are quite fresh (not overcooked); portions are large and delicious. Gotta love the lunch specials that they have here! You get a plate of food, egg roll, and a soda for $6.50. They also have other specials available served with fried rice for $5.25! The food is always good, employees are friendly, and the restaurant is always clean. My favorite has to be general tsos chicken with pork fried rice. Love. read more

This place cares more about money than anything. It's crazy to be they will make you pay for everything. They tried to get me to pay 5$ extra just to Separate my noodles from my chicken. They will try to charge you for everything it is $.35 for a cup. I've noticed the menu selections of the Chinese places we have tried in the South are all the same. They cater to the folks from around the area. Most of the menu had Americanized Chinese food, especially chicken wings and nothing really authentic like chow fun =( We will probably come here again since its close to our house, but nothing special. I have been looking for a good (not great but good- great would be asking a lot) Chinese food place for months now. I am from Jersey with lots of great food so when someone told me HK was good I figured I would try because it is close to my neighborhood. Well the chicken and broccoli (a basic staple in Chinese food) was dry, no sauce/gravy at all, the Egg Drop/Wonton soup had no flavor at all and for the 3rd strike the crispy noodles were stale. This is the second time that we have gone to Hong Kong Bluffton and had really bad food I wish you could have a photo area in here that I could show you that the sesame seed chicken 50% of it had NO chicken what so ever it was just a ball of dough that was fried .. one of the pieces did have chicken in it the chicken was a really weird black color the last time I went I had extremely burnt egg fuyoung I thought well OK maybe it was a bad day but this is the second time after that very sorry that it is gotten this awful because we really did like their food. What Happened? I have been ordering from this restaurant for a number of years and have never been disappointed until today. Ordered vegetable LoMein. No vegtables. What Happened? Ordered boneless spareribs and they were burnt. So hard you could not eat it. What Happened? If you have a new cook, I suggest you let him go or you will surely lose you business. read more

I have eaten here at least once a week. I work at Publix in the same building. I really enjoy them. They are very nice and friendly. I have tried most of their menu. It's never been a disappointment.
