Hong Kong Express is the best case scenario for American Chinese food. Quick, cheap, and most importantly... GOOD. Really good. We had General Tso's chicken, broccoli beef, shrimp fried rice, and vegetable lo mein. Each item was 10/10 except the rice which I'd give 7/10. The vegetable lo mein surprised me with the generous amount and variety of veggies. The rice was kind of boring. I will give credit that the shrimp was good quality and not overcooked. Update: added salt and extra veggies while heating the left-over in a pan. It's now improved in flavor but still a bit greasy. The portions are very hefty for the price and the meat is tender and vegetables fresh and actually have a nice variety for a few dishes. however, the food is very oily and not salted/flavored enough for me. It's fine for my husband but I like my food to be a bit more salted. I also find myself only eating a bit of the dish before needing a break from the grease. We ordered a whole bunch of things yesterday and still have a lot of leftover. 1. Chicken with eggplant. Comes in brown sauce with only the two ingredients. Some pcs of eggplant (top part of the eggplant) tends to be still a bit undercooked but for most part, the eggplants are soft and melt in your mouth. I wish there was a bit more salt or soy sauce. 2. Chicken in black bean sauce. This came with very large pcs of not fully cooked onions and carrots, and baby corn and some bell peppers. You can see pcs of the black bean in the sauce. Again need more salt. 3. Hunan beef combo -comes with pork fried rice and egg roll. I liked the variety of vegetable in this dish - bell pepper, string beans, baby corn, and broccoli. 4. Beef with mushroom combo - love the fresh mushrooms and there is a lot. I just wish it was more seasoned. I really wanted to like this place but the grease and the lack of seasoning is a bit disappointing. Two good things: pretty fast considering how busy they were. Placed order in BM app at 5:40, food ready for pick up by 6:10. And the price was great. $42 for all 4 dishes which I suspect will provide 3 to 4 meals for two adults. read more

Been going here for years and I only get chinese food from here. Usual order is either the fried half chicken, chicken or shrimp with broccoli with lobster sauce (white sauce), or shrimp lo mein and everything has been delicious! The food is not overly oily and the portions are good. Their lunch menu is a great deal as well. Idk how they be cooking the fried chicken here but it gets me eveytime. Service is quick and and the lady who works there is awesome. Not much of a dine in place with 2-3 small tables so it's more of a place to order out from. read more

Both chicken was tender and juicy, the veggies were fresh, but the chicken and mushrooms was otherwise bland. Chicken skewers were very generous and tender but also quite bland. Egg roll was really good. Dumplings wrappers were too thick but the meat was flavorful. Lobster fried rice was very good. Here's the thing that kinda makes me crazy - there were at least 4 levels of spicy to choose from on the hot n sour soup. I picked the second spiciest, spicy. Friday nights just got a whole lot better. My wife and I ordered orange chicken and beef lo mein. Let me tell you it is worth exercising all week in anticipation of all the tasty calories going to be consumed. If they were to ever move to the next town over, I would still make the trip for the orange chicken alone. We ordered take-out on a Friday night during the dinner rush, and we only had to wait twenty-five minutes for pick-up and the food was, as always, hot, and delicious. The lady working behind the counter was so friendly and personable despite being bombarded with calls for orders and checking out customers that we felt obligated to give her a big tip! No to the real review the pork fried rice needs more flavor my wife beef with broccoli sauce taste like they made it with just oil my boneless spareribs taste like sweet and sour sauce. But my bf liked it and it was cheap, so I guess it is not the worst Chinese food in the world. We ordered chicken lo mien, combination fried rice and chicken wings. like I said, my friend liked it all. To me, the chicken had way too much breading and not enough meat. I have had day old Chinese takeout that was more enjoyable than theirs. The noodles for the chicken lo mien were way overdone, and the amount of chicken was very minimal. The rice was the most disappointing part. It was almost like yellow rice with soy sauce doused on top. I have definitely experienced better. This was the first time I ordered from Hong Kong Express and was very impressed with the quality and freshness. I had the Singapore noodles and it was a very nice sized portion jammed into the plastic container. Plenty of shrimp, roast pork, green onion, and rice noodles along with the right mix of curry powder and red chili flakes. And the dish was not loaded with oil. The egg roll was also very crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. It was fried in fresh oil as it did not have a foul flavor from old fryer oil. I will be coming here in the future. read more

Even though it's in proximity to our house, I never heard of Hong Kong Express until GrubHub introduced us to the restaurant. Since it was a snowy night, we decided to give HK Express a try via GrubHub online and take advantage of the restaurant's nominal delivery charge. Plus, we were further swayed by HK Express's reasonable prices and the five-star Yelp review online. Please realize we are not fans of Chinese food, so when I say we were beyond taste-bud happy with our selections, I mean it. Even though the House Special Wonton Soup is the most expensive soup on the menu ($5) don't miss it; chock full of fresh ingredients in a sweetly subtle broth that is just too good to pass up. I logged in just to review this place, because I think it is unfair that the 2 star review gives this place an undeserved 3.5. I live right near this restaurant. Despite the fact that there are numerous Chinese options nearby, this place has earned my business. They have done so for three reasons: 1- Speed. They are lightning fast in preparing your order even during peak times. 2- Service. Everytime I walk in to pick up my food I am greeted by very friendly people. 3. Quality. I have always said that it is hard to mess up Chinese food (many disagre with me). My point is that the cuisine is not so complicated where even those giving a good effort could put out an unsatisfactory product. Bad Chinese food is a result of a lack of pride in what you do, and care for adhering to basic principles of quality. This place has yet to serve me a bad meal. read more

I didn't hold this place to extra scrutiny, one night after new years 2018. Actually tonight as I write this review, I realized after two or three bites of my general to chicken that it wasn't breast meat at all really. I prefer this. The lo mein was okay nothing great, and the Veggie rice was a bit off along with the taste of the egg roll. I got the feeling that the food was a bit old.
