Personal peeve when restaurants serve eating-in customers like takeout people. This happened here at Hong Kong yesterday. They have 6 tables and we asked if we could eat at one of them. They said that was fine. We ordered at the counter, paid and sat at a table for service. It arrived about ten minutes later in takeout containers and two disposable plates with thin plastic utensils. Our order of Mongolian Beef, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, General's Chicken and Hot & Sour Soup were all in a takeout bag for us to remove, open, distribute and consume. It turned out we got General's Shrimp, but we let that go. While the food itself was decent (aside from the error with the General's dish being wrong), being treated like walkways rather than in house customers was unpleasant and somewhat disrespectful. If they really don't want to cater to people eating there, just remove the tables and chairs and be what you are. Pretending to accept people wanting to eat while the food is at its best off the wok, only to lack any of the needed supplies like flatware and proper serving dishes to accommodate it, is just a very bad look. Which is also to say, the store had zero ambiance, and management operated under false pretenses. Just can't get past two Stars, regardless of the reasonable decency of the grub. If takeout is what you came for, the review could be higher. read more

We found our go to Chinese food for where we live! It's always a thing we need to find whenever we move to a new base. We have tried three Chinese places since moving to Poquoson. Hong Kong was by far the best. I did hesitate after seeing posts on the infamous typical neighborhood FB pages were 90% of it is complaining and 10% of it is actual useful information and praise. I then of course read Yelp reviews. I have to say, listen to those positive reviews! We have ordered through DoorDash twice from them and tonight we ordered and picked up. We called in and placed our order with no issues. We were told our order would be ready in 10 minutes. We left the house ASAP. I went into Food Lion next door to handle some scratch off lottery ticket addiction. It took maybe 5 min to do that. We then walked over to Hong Kong to pick up our order. When we pulled up to the parking lot there were people walking in and out of Hong Kong with their orders. When we picked up ours as we were walking out someone was coming in to pick up. Customer service was great. Seriously no issues! It was quick and to the point. Giving all things covid it's safer to just get in and get out. The food is really good! We love the sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, shrimp and snow peas, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli and egg rolls! The egg rolls are the kind I remember from my childhood. They are crispy and delicious! Our food has ALWAYS been piping hot! Whether is was DoorDash or pick up, always hot! The lo main was ok. Not bad, it's just ok. For all things Covid, Hong Kong is not playing around. All their dining tables are placed to one corner to allow room for social distancing. They have a whole window and barricade set up for their safety. I LOVED what they did. You pick your own sauces, and place your payment receipt into a large glass jar. There is also hand sanitizer available for customers to use since you do use a shared pen, and pick out sauces from a box. There is not indoor dining, but there is DoorDash and pick up. read more

These negative reviews are so wrong. Hong Kong in Poquoson makes the best Chinese food you will ever have. Those complaining about bad service need to get over themselves, the family at this business works very hard and this restaurant is incredibly busy all days of the week. I've been eating here for 20 years. Although their manners are not overly polite, they are never rude. Hong Kong Poquoson has very good portion sizes for the price of their food and the food is made fresh every order. Sometimes I'll order from them multiple times a week it's just that good of Chinese food. read more

Highly disappointed with the staff as well as their product/standing behind their product/producing correct item. I have eaten here for years and honestly it's ok. Have had way better but for something close by it's ok. We ordered online tonight. There is an item called a shrimp roll on there for $1.80 each. The picture shows a single piece of shrimp basically straightened out and wrapped in a spring roll wrapper. (Like firecracker shrimp if you are familiar with that). We love them so I ordered 4. Upon picking up our order I checked to make sure everything was in there. Instead of the 4 shrimp rolls there was 4 egg rolls in a bag. I went back in and was told I was wrong that it's a shrimp roll. Now maybe that's their version of an egg roll with shrimp and they call it a shrimp roll. Point being it is NOT what is pictured on their website. Not even close. Guy was very condescending and rude about it. Last time we are eating there. read more

This was my FIRST AND LAST time ordering from here!! If I could give them 0 stars I would. Don't bother looking up the menu online and using that to order from. They will tell you that they don't have a menu online.....but not before taking your "order" and making only half of it. Then when you call to ask them about it they want to blame the person who answered the phone who hardly speaks English!! Doesn't see that there is a problem and hangs up on customers! the crab rangoon had no filling in it, the onions and bell pepper are WAYYY to big in the pepper steak fried rice , the sweet and sour sauce was awful & the shrimp wasnt good .. the customer service was good though . I will never eat there again read more

Best place in Poquoson ( just Poquoson not anywhere else). This is my go to place when I'm home. Usually order the Chicken Teriyaki sticks and Shrimp fried rice or vegetable fried rice with sometimes spring rolls or Shrimp roll. Every now and then I'll order the Shrimp Lo Mein or Shrimp and broccoli. It's a family owned business. Warning the mom speaks a little bit of English and it's hard to understand her. But her sons can speak and talk very well. They are pretty friendly and I've never really had a problem with them. The price is reasonable even tho my spots in Hampton are a little cheaper. All in all a pretty decent place for the money and food. read more

Beware of food borne illness! We used to love this place until I witnessed an atrocity one night when we went to pick up our take out order. We got there early before our order was ready so, i stood by the counter and watched the busy kitchen workers. To my surprise, i watched as the lady who was running the fryer station pick up the tongs she was using to bag fried food, reach into the refrigerator and grab RAW chicken with the tongs! She tossed the raw chicken skewers into the fryer and then tossed the tongs back on top of the fried food bowl next to the fryers. Then, she used the tainted tongs AGAIN to grab cooked, fried food and put them in someone's take out bag. I watched in disgust as she then bagged our crab rangoons with the same raw chicken tongs. I pulled the guy running the register to the side and explained what I saw. He lied and said the chicken was already cooked. Really? Chicken in the refrigerator with marinade on it and a pink color? Looked raw to me. For some reason i decided to believe the guy since we were regulars. We ate our food. And guess what, the next day we are sick with terrible diarrhea!!
