I was in the mood for Thai food and was sick, so ordering in was the only way to go. My regular Thai place doesn't do any kind of delivery service, so I found this spot on Door Dash and gave it a try. I got my usual chicken pad thai spice level 2. I did appreciate that the instructions for the restaurant on Door Dash had clearly marked spice levels with the 5 being something like "are you sure you really want to do this?" lol. I also got an order of mango sticky rice. Food arrived and unfortunately I was super disappointed. There was like NO spice at all. It was very very bland noodles for my pad thai *sad face*. But, the mango sticky rice was good - this was the first time I've had an order with green rice, so I was a little put off at first, but the flavor was lovely. So, between the two dishes, average overall. I'll likely stick to my regular spot.
While having car serviced at a nearby dealership found this gem tucked away in a quiet spot and walked over to give it a try. Very welcoming staff, quick service and the food was delicious. Decided to use hot vs Thai hot and was perfect for my taste with room for those that enjoy the real heat as well! Good selection of food and drink on the menu and will be back in the future when in the area!

Absolutely fantastic service. The staff are so sweet and professional and recommend great Menu items and are super helpful! The food is absolutely amazing with fresh and delightful menu items.
Fried rice is good, but the chicken (and vendor they buy their chicken from) they use is awful. The chicken is like crunchy rubber (that is the best way to describe it)! It was awful and like chewing on a tire (again--best way to describe it and only descriptive way I can put how the texture was). I ate the rice, but threw the chicken away. Disappointed by the quality.
I visit Thai Tara at least once a month. Whenever I think about Thai food this is the place that immediately comes to mind. I have been coming here for years and the quality and service is always excellent and friendly. Considering it's a small restaurant, I look forward to having a calm, intimate meal whether that be with myself or friends/family. As a creature of habit, I order the Thai Tara Lo Mein with added bell peppers and a medium spice level. This is my favorite dish because it satisfies my veggie and protein needs with much flavor and textures in every bite. I appreciate this dish, because out of all of the Thai restaurants I've been to I simply can't find a dish that checks off all the palate boxes like TT does. Their special sauce is *chef's kiss*. I plan to try their Williamsburg location VERY soon which serves sushi and has a more elaborate menu according to one of the waitresses at Newport News. I can't wait! If you're looking for a flavorful and reasonably priced meal accompanied by friendly staff, check them out!
Came here yesterday for the first time. It's located at the bottom of an apartment complex, in the corner, but this means lots of good parking! Cute little restaurant and a large menu. We got the pineapple curry with chicken, which had good flavor but was pretty watery. It came with a side of rice, but not enough to eat with the entire portion of curry. We also go the drunken noodles, which were good- lots of veggies ! Was pretty empty when we came in. Service was decent but took a little while for drink refills and servers changed mid-dining. Overall, would come back again if I'm the area, but wouldn't go out of my way.
While looking on Yelp before the Christmas break, I came across this spot which is in driving distance from the car dealership where I purchased my vehicle in 2013. It's actually next to Angie's Cafe where we stopped by for breakfast weeks back. On the way to pick up car from an appointment, we stopped here to see if the reviews are legit. Verdict? We immediately got seated once walking inside. It's a small space which was occupied with many folks inside. The staff was all masked up and every table had hand sanitizer available. Safety first in my book. Now, onto the food. I ordered Chicken Thai Tara Lo Mein (dinner size) which is egg noodles with onions, carrots, bean sprouts, cabbage and scallions in house special sauce at mild spice level. Pretty good flavor. Everything was cooked very well. Only issue I had was there were a lot of carrots in my dish. A whole lot. I did eat some but not all. Next time, I'll request a few or none, which is no biggie. Nonetheless, the dish was very good. And my girlfriend said her fried rice dish was good. So there you have it folks. Looks like we found a new spot in our area to check out and bring friends to as well.
This was a great find. Came here because it was an hour long wait at this other spot. So glad I did! The food was great! Staff was really nice and attentive. It's a small intimate place. Decor is ok...I think in time they can improve the look. Seems they get a lot of carry out orders, maybe DoorDash or something because people kept coming in to pick up orders. I will say that I was surprised by how good the food was. This place is a hidden gem. I will definitely come back to try other entrees. That pad Thai was amazing. My son said whoever made it needs a raise.
The menu offers a variety of food with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. (I am carnivorous, but my friend isn't lol). I ordered the Tom Kha Soup and requested no mushrooms. They accidentally left them. They were very accommodating and replaced the soup with shrimp spring rolls. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy those either. The Thai Tea was delicious, it was my first time trying it, and it was flavorful and well balanced - milky and sweet, but not too sweet. I like their Shumai. My vegan friend said she enjoyed her food as well.
Had dinner at this Thai spot while visiting the area. Nice decor with ample seating for a small establishment. Hot jasmine tea hit the spot on a cold evening. The Indian Pancake with green curry was excellent. The drunken noodle dish was the best I've had! Staff provided friendly service. I look forward to my next visit to the area so I can have the drunken noodles again! read more

The restaurant itself has a nice, calm atmosphere quiet enough to have a good conversation but still welcoming. Our server was friendly and sweet. We started with the dynamite shrimp, which was decent but not my favorite. It didn't have much flavor, and the sauce it came with didn't really complement the dish. The spring rolls were tasty and crispy, though my friend and I initially thought they had some protein inside turns out they were veggie rolls, which was okay, just not what we expected. For the main course, I ordered my favorite the Panang Curry. It's always delicious here, creamy and full of flavor, and they nailed the spice level just right for me. The only downside was that there seemed to be more vegetables than meat and I would've liked a bit more pork in the curry. Overall, this place remains one of my favorite Thai restaurants for its authentic flavors, relaxing vibe, and consistently good service. Just a few small tweaks on the portions and it'd be perfect. read more

Food is good! chicken app was tender and the sauces were a perfect match! mango sticky rice was legit! i also ordered soup and it was flavorful (a little spicy but i'll get a non spicy next time). Very homey feel and service was 10/10. read more

I wanted to take my daughter to my secret spot, Thai Tara!!! We love Thai food and the beautiful ambiance they create when you walk in. The service was excellent; we felt welcome and got everything we requested. Thai Ice Tea is my fave!! It's located in a shopping center next to Navy Federal Credit Union. If you have a large party, I recommend you call to ahead for seating. Enjoy! read more

This beautiful place has style, great food and better service. Highly recommend for many reasons! The biggest reason is their Thai Tara Lo Mein. They give you the option for spicy and not spicy. IF YOU DONT KNOW THAI SPICY, don't try spicy. Number one rule! My wife loved the fried crab Rangoon and the beef jerky! I added carrots and cucumbers to my lo mein and they have options to add much more. This place is dine in friendly with a small dining area that feels safe and like a friends home. Dine in or take out you won't be disappointed with their polite and fast service. EVERY SINGLE BITE was absolutely delicious! Again, warning, please, if you do not know Thai spice, try your food not spicy first. This is a warning because Thai spice can get very intense. read more

Excellent Thai place not too far from Ft. Eustis. Their Dishes here are simply delicious and worth coming back for. I had their lunch portioned Pad See Ew which tasted amazing and was perfectly executed. Thank you, Thai Tara for satisfying our Thai food cravings! Service was on point as well as their dining area's cleanliness! Restroom was super CLEAN as well. We'll be sure to tell our friends in the area to try you out!! Next time I'll try your curry dishes for sure. read more

Shrimp extremely squishy like it was barely fried lacks flavor rice very watery and oily and spring rolls are decent but sauce overly sweet and barely spicy extremely disappointed overall would not recommend placed order on 12/23/21 at 7:06 pm They kindly refunded me and the cook told me she hadn't heard any complaints about it all day read more

My mom had never had Thai food before so I took her here. I had the pad Thai with beef and it was delicious. She had the pad see ew with chicken and she loved it. We also had spring rolls and a side of fried rice. The fried rice was delicious as were the spring rolls. The service was great and fast and the ambience is very nice and inviting. We will definitely be back. read more
