This place in Acworth was once our absolute favorite! We used to come here every week to enjoy their delicious sweet and sour chicken, beef with broccoli, and stir-fried rice. Third time we ordered and they got it wrong. Ordered shrimp spring rolls they gave us vegetable spring rolls. Ordered fried rice with a Mongolian beef combo and got white rice. I have no idea how this place stays in business. It just shows the lack of quality "real" Chinese restaurants in the Acworth area. Also most clientele don't know authenic Chinese food, otherwise they would not come here. They serve very bland food. Use very little spices which is required. It's mostly poorly prepared Cantonese style which most unsophisicated Americans consume. Save you money and go to better places in Kennesaw. read more

There are some excellent dishes and there are some not-so-authentic dishes in this restaurant. I would not recommend fried rice, soup noodles or beef ho fun but I highly recommend the twice cooked pork (spicy), eggplants with any meat (spicy) and string beans with any meat. The string beans are always cooked perfectly. My husband likes to order the chicken with mixed vegetables. The asparagus in the mixed vegetables is tender most of the time; occasionally it's not so tender. Service here is always good, not to mention how reasonably-priced the lunch menu is. I really like this place. It's in a strip mall off Cobb Parkway. Pretty easy to get into and out of. I've never had a problem parking here. If you go early (for dinner) you can usually park right in front of the restaurant. There are a few restaurants that share the same lot so sometimes it does get busy. I'd give the food 4 stars. For me, the quality of the meats & veggies is wonderful but I find the sauces to be a bit mild, even the Kung Pao. They earn the 5th star from customer service. Friendly, on top of things and going the extra mile. My drink is never empty. They answer any questions I may have about a dish. After dinner, in addition to fortune cookies, I usually get a very tasty orange slice and a small, light piece of cake. Their dinner portions are large so I appreciate the small (free) dessert! read more

This place is great, we ordered delivery and it was delicious. It's hard to find good Chinese food, this is my favorite place I've find here so far. We ordered the beef lo mein and the fresh mushroom beef, both combos. We got the egg rolls, crab Rangoon, egg drop soup, wonton soup and fried rice. The only thing I didn't love was the fried rice, it just wasn't super flavorful. The quality of the food was fine. But the problem came from accuracy issues. I called in and my husband was to pick it up to avoid the issues we frequently have had with delivery services. I placed orders for 2 Dinner combos. The 1st was a General Tso's Shrimp dinner with white steamed rice, the chicken wing, hot/sour soup and egg roll combo. The 2nd was chicken and Chinese eggplant with garlic sauce with steamed white rice, crab rangoon, wonton soup and egg roll combo. We received the correct entrees but we both received the wonton soup, crab rangoons and egg rolls. My husband asked for the hot/sour soup and although there was an extra wonton soup, he didn't like it. The same with me giving him a crab rangoon instead of his chicken wing. I did give him both eggrolls. I called this order in on the phone and was very disappointed that my husband did not receive his entire dinner combo. read more

There is good Chinese food in Acworth! Hallelujah! While not the best ever nor is it perfectly adherent to the Cantonese style I grew up with "up north", Hong Kong Star is really good. It's nice for dine in and I had a great experience with their delivery (pre-Covid). I really like the Lo Mein, Chicken with black bean sauce, and egg drop soup. They use a fair amount of actual Asian vegetables (Japanese eggplant, Bok Choy, etc) and everything is flavorful without being greasy. The portions are more than fair and the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. read more

Our son moved to NW Atlanta, and on every visit we try another Chinese restaurant to see if we can get a dependable option for take-out. Last night is was Hong Kong Star, and I think our search is over. Great menu, reasonable prices, and a nice ambiance to boot, should we someday hopefully return to in-restaurant dining! I believe this is the BEST Chinese food I've ever had. We ordered Combos - Mongolian Beef, Mongolian Chicken and 2 General Tso. I wish I took pictures- the pieces of Gen. Tso Chicken were HUGE and made of Chicken breast. Not the crap meat you get from other restaurants. Combos came with Crab Rangoon, egg roll and soup. We added a qt of vegetable lo mein. Uh-Mazing!!!
