Looks like a well-painted dive bar in an industrial area. BUT, the food is A M A Z I N G!!! The sandwiches are huge, well-flavored and just darn good. I had a Cubano that was as good as any I've ever had. Husband had the pulled pork with a slaw that stood on its own but highlighted the sandwich (very messy - don't wear white!) This is a super fun bar for line dancing. Great vibes and really nice people. Friday nights they have lessons every few hours that are very helpful. Dj plays great songs. They also have pool tables and games. Food is not bad here. Would recommend coming if you want to learn line dancing or have been doing it for a while. read more

Yeehaw! How did I never know that Salem had line dancing? I went just for line dancing and had quite the time. It's been 12 years since I've line danced and I do not know what I'm doing. Horrible bar service. The food was horrible. Potatoes were cold. Corn was burnt. Chicken fried steak tasted like it was nuked in a microwave. Sat at the bar and takes forever to get a beer when it's not even remotely busy. read more

We got their Saturday about 6:30 me and friends . Friends order a chicken wrap split and I order a patty melt. Friends got their meal and finished. 20 minutes after they finished my friend went to look for waitress and my meal. 8 minutes later she came and drop food off and ran away. I'm a waiter for over 40 years and very easy going as they were understaffed. I took one bite of patty melt and it was ok but the fries were like cold. I took the plate to bar and ask them to take off my food and another bartender/ waitress said ok and I'll take my check. 20 minutes later I finished by second beer and went to bar and seen my waitress. I as for my check and ask to make sure my food was taking off as my plate still sit were I brought it back. She came back with an attitude and ask why? I said my friends were done eating for over 20 minutes before we ask you wher my food was at and when I got it the fries were Luke warm. She then proceeded with attitude and gave me my adjusted check. What an attitude. She would have got a 5.00 tip on a 8 dollar bill because as a lifetime waiter shit happens and I'll still tip great because shit happens. But give me an attitude and treat me like shit. You will not only get stiffed and you will get a bad review. I'll give it another try because I have no ideal why. read more

Honky Tonk has all new servers and bartenders since my initial review. What a difference they have made. This new group is friendly and attentive. If you don't get immediate attention, it's probably because there is a sizable crowd. But they definitely earn extra points for service now. But my interaction with management is what really prompted me to do this update. I'm a huge fan of Big Buck Hunter. So when I played the game there and it performed less than admirably, I wrote to management to try to get the guns adjusted. The manager was very accommodating to my request and has had the maintenance company out on a few occasions to fix the game for me. I really appreciate it when organizations take the time to deliver stellar customer service. This was one of those instances. Plus, Honky Tonk is one of the few venues in the Salem area that offers good, consistent live music and the only one, as far as I know which offers live country music on a regular basis. Throw in the weekly line-dancing lessons, pool tournaments, and special events, and this place sets itself apart from other bars. And the outside patio is a nice place to hang out when the weather is nice (and especially good with live music). read more

Everything was fine until the bartenders 3 goons stood up, and threatened my existence. I was fine with being cut off because that's the reputation of this bar. However when thing's got nasty she was purposefully allowing 3 men to become violently responsible for trying to get 2 gay men out of the bar. I won't say they are outwardly homophobic, but it was close to it. I had only had 2 beers at that point, and certainly not visibly drunk. I wear partials, and have a slur. I stood at the bar, money in hand and it would take 15 min to get a drink and it wasn't very busy. The staff didn't make eye contact and weren't welcoming. Good ol'tasty hamburger and fries. The hamburger was seasoned to perfection, and so were the fries. All the veggies were fresh and crisp. I also ordered the hot wings, and they were pretty good. They were crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The flavoring was Franks, and I would have liked to see it with a little more authentic sauce. Good, though. Service was fast and friendly. I feel so bad for the staff! The manager/owner is crazy mean! I don't want anyone to get in trouble, but every dang staff member I spoke with has had a bad experience with her. She even came to our table and demanded to know the person who complained about the slow service. It was super awkward and I just can't go back. I love that this business supports veterans and conservative values, but that woman is horrible! I'm sad that I can't support the business anymore, but I wouldn't be true to my values if I kept going there with that women being so unprofessional and hostile. If I could give a 0 star I would. Terrible service, our group of 4 stood at the bar waiting for a drink for a very long time, bartender made eye contact several times but would serve others that would just walk up first. My husband decided to walk to the other side (the front) to get served, thinking maybe they don't serve that side. When he went over there he stood for a long time and waited his turn, then got skipped again when a few people leaned over and hollered for another round. My husband hit the bar a few times and said "Hey I've been waiting and I was next" he was not rude just trying to get the bartenders attention over the loud music. The bartender did not like it and refused to serve him. Another bartender came over and took our orders. She came back and said that she could get the entire groups drinks but my husbands, that they have decided not to serve him. Frustrated he said ok, and my husband who was not served paid for all of our drinks. when my husband asked for quarters to play pool the male bartender threw the dollar bill at my husbands face, and told him to leave. After talking with the manager and pointing out the fact that my husband never did anything wrong she told him "I know, the bartender does not like you, and wants you out so you have to leave". I went and talked to the male bartender and tried to close out our tab, the bartender would not give me my husbands card unless I showed him my boobs. We threatened to call the cops and the manager tried to take my husbands phone, and the manager said "that would cause problems for the cadets who are here" (they were clearly underage), we end up being shoved out of the bar without the card and noticed the charges on the card in the morning. We had a 30 dollar tab at max and were charged $299.99. When calling the bar the next day after seeing the charges we got told "don't be a dick and leave you card, it was so nice of you to buy rounds for the patrons that where left when you left" If I could give a negative number I would, but I can only give a single star. read more

Best service I've had since moving to Salem. Holly, our server, was great, and even went above and beyond to help point out great places in the area to check out. As someone who moved to the area right before all the closures, it is SO nice to have someone steer me in the right direction on how to enjoy myself being here. Hands down, I will be back. Good times to kick up your heels and hang out with friends. Great spirits, environment is just as it sounds... definitely on the country side. They have karaoke along with line dancing throughout the week. Bartenders are on point. Ask for Amelia.. in my opinion.. she's the best! They also have a full menu, but I have yet to eat here. My first visit with my friend was pretty good. The drinks were stiff, service was prompt, and because it was a weeknight, there was line dancing and karaoke. My second visit with the same friend was terrible. Considering the state we go ourselves in the first time, I immediately downloaded the Uber app upon our arrival. No need, it turned out, because the BEYOND crappy waitress served me and my friend mostly soda and cranberry. Five drinks and all I got was a near diabetic coma. She was also entirely incapable of managing the "crowd" of patrons and continuously walked past us without even looking up. Finally, my bill was far higher than expected. I don't know what she was charging me for Sprite, but I do know she charged me full price for onion rings I ordered during happy hour. This was reflected in her tip. read more

Though the food and music are great, they decided to become political by placing derogatory posters against government officials on their walls which then made me decide to spend my money someplace else where I don't have to be aware of how someone votes. For a small town this country BAR is BIG time! The service is amazing and ALWAYS with a smile, when they are busy for lunch even the cook serves so your food doesn't get cold. I ordered the special Grilled Turkey and Swiss with fries. BEST grilled sandwich EVER. NO JOKE. The fries are seasoned and yummy too. They also serve hush puppies like a bread with your meal with a hot chili sauce and that is amazing too. Great bands on the weekends and line dancing lessons too!
