We had an amazing morning snorkeling with the hono's (Hawaiian green turtles) at Turtle Canyon with Honolulu Snorkel Company. The crew made the experience exceptional. Captain Jeff was the quiet one, but he was constantly aware of everything happening around him. His calm presence made us feel safe throughout the trip. Skipper Ryley was the funny, whimsical personality of the group. She was an excellen communicator, delivering the safety briefing with humor while making it very clear when everyone needed to listen. Skipper Natalia was, without question, the hardest-working crew member. Her knowledge of the ocean was impressive. She handled all the manual work---preparing the equipment, guiding our group safely in the water, pointing out the turtles. Her energy, wonderful smile and dedication did not go unnoticed. The only downsides had nothing to do with the crew. Although the tour is 2-hours long, we were only in the water about 45 minutes. Also Turtle Canyon was extremely crowded with other tour boats, making the snorkeling area feel congested. The water was murkier than expected because of the heavy tourist traffic. Despite those two drawbacks, they were beyond Honolulu Snorkel Company's control. The crew was professional, friendly, safety-conscious, and made the experience memorable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to snorkel with Hawaii's beautiful honu's. read more

Took a little while to get the tour started as some of the other guests were late or failed to submit their waivers in advance via the webform sent in their confirmation email. The guides are young folks, but they do try! A few interesting facts were shared and some silly jokes. Music choices were interesting and may not be suitable for some guests (ie. children, or folks over 50). It was a beautiful day and we got to see whales. We were told that they hadn't seen any whales for a few weeks. I know some friends that had went on another companies tour the week before and saw whales in the distance, as well as dolphins. While this company may had not seen them--they were out there. So, you just never know what you might see! It was a bit of a rough ride, but we had a great time. We booked the 2 hour turtle snorkeling tour and were not disappointed! This was a fantastic way to get out in the Hawaiian waters and see some really great sea life! We got on the boat behind the Prince Waikiki. It's hot and sunny in line, so pack a hat and suncreen and cover up for sure! The boat provides all you need for your snorkeling adventure, including a snorkel, mask, and fins. Once aboard, you sail about 15 minutes to their secret snorkeling spot. It wasn't super secret, as a handful of other boats were around as well. The snorkeling here was great though - lots of fish with a good variety to see. Our snorkel guide in the water led a few of us further out to a small reef where we saw 7 giant sea turtles! They were absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone who is a strong swimmer and interested in marine life. Back on board they have a variety of drinks to enjoy. Crew is also available to take your pictures as a fun souvenir for your trip. read more

I know the website says you don't need to bring a swimsuit because you aren't getting in the water but that doesn't mean you won't get wet. DO NOT, AND I REPEAT DO NOT, BRING OR WEAR ANYTHING THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO GET SOAKED. The waters are choppy and the boat splashes. We were soaked when we were done. We did see 3-4 whales and a couple of turtles but each trip is unique and you might not see anything. The boat ride was great and would have been fun even if we didn't see anything. The Captain was friendly and his deckhand was too. The only complaint I have is that the Mai Tai they serve isn't very good but it comes with your ticket so I guess that's to be expected. read more

The 2-hour snorkel tour was amazing. We saw at least a dozen turtles up close, some just a few feet away. Avery, Ace, and Captain Phillip were all super welcoming and made the experience even better. Special thanks to Avery for noticing we weren't ready to be out of the water at the end and taking us to a really cool shallow reef to explore a little more. He also showed us hidden spots and took great photos of us. And shoutout to Ace for diving deep to capture the best turtle videos. Such a memorable day, we'll definitely be back. PS. We did the whale watching tour, and loved it! Captain Aiden was a great captain and kept us safe. Emily was our deckhand and did an awesome job making sure everyone felt comfortable and killed it as the whale song expert. Imran was our whale watching naturalist and never ran out of fun facts about whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and the local area. The whole crew made it an unforgettable adventure. Imran started the trip with some yummy coffee and fun whale facts. Together throughout the trip we saw dolphins, whales, and a turtle! We saw it all! This was hands-down one of the most entertaining and memorable parts of our Hawaii trip! The team at Honolulu Snorkel--especially Marcus and Holly, and our captain driving the boat--were so fun and helpful. It was my first time snorkeling and they made everything super smooth. We saw several turtles, colorful fish, and I rented a GoPro to capture it all. I got some awesome photos and video shots. Marcus even helped me get the footage transferred during the boat ride back (amazing customer service) and all around just a really fun group to spend your time in Hawaii with. What I really appreciated was how beginner-friendly the whole experience was--even if you're not a strong swimmer, they have options and make you feel totally safe. They also send super clear instructions beforehand, respond quickly to any questions, and there's lots of parking nearby. We were worried at first it might be hard to find but it's very easy and their team is super responsive to calling or email. Waste of money. Don't go after it rains! Complete waste of time and money. The water was brown and dirty due to recent rain, making it impossible to see anything. The company knew the conditions were bad but didn't say a word and took our money anyway. I tried contacting the manager to resolve this, but I was ignored. I want to leave an honest review for what to expect. If you are a 1st time snorkeler and don't have any expectations then this is the boat for you. If you have snorkeled and have a clue then this is not the boat for you. They were rookie crew at best. They ask you if you are experienced and say you can go first but then make you hang out with the inexperienced snorkelers and stay off the reef and hover on open water with nothing to see. You cannot take the vest off and dive down at all. They don't mention anything about reef safe sunblock, they don't help the inexperienced swimmers into the water or out of the water. They don't offer a fresh water rinse after the snorkel and don't have a fish identification chart on boat. They do have decent mask and snorkel but the fins are full foot basic fins. If you want to swim with 30 people kicking you in open water and can't see the actual reef then this is your boat. If you want to dive down and actually see the reef then take a different boat. If you have Go City pass then it's OK since you don't have to pay for it. If you pay for this then go somewhere else. read more
